You dont actually need to to constantly tap F8. Tap it once when the windows loading screan comes up and when you see the ' _ ' it means it is entering safe mod. However I dont see why you would even want to enter safe mod onless you have a really bad virus and you know how to track it down. Or a programme is fucking up and you need to uninstall it off you computer.

The best way to get rid of the virus is to keep taking F8 as soon as u turn on your pc .....safe mode i do not use....but i would go down to reboot ...and follow the stepz...yes u will lose every thing when u click reboot...but hey at least u want have a virus and you will have your protection software back that u had got when u first got your pc :)
