really nice arm action. the only thing i saw was his arm was a little too high when his front foot landed. delay the arm comming thru just a little more and you will get a little more speed. good luck with baseball. you look like you work hard. hi 80's is good.
@benssalter45 It was upper 80's, and he's up to low 90's now...He was drafted by the Red Sox two months ago...He's deciding between signing or going to FAU.
You still have to know how to hit and field if they need you to hit and theres 3 men on and they need one outfield your gonna hit to infield dirt. And you don't run very fast at all i'm 14 and can run faster and throw almost as fast I throw 76 and you don't have a good move picking. Don't listen to me Ive only been on all-star teams since I was 7 and been on travel since I was 8 and starting Varsity pitching as a freshman but you know don't take my advice. When you swing step and swing your hips
@Rawr12312 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah...... kid ur 14 im 19 playin college ball an am one of the better players on the team, never made an allstar team an played travel for a summer cause i wanted to try it it dont mean crap what ur doin now.. this kid is good his arm slot is different so he prob gets good 2 seam an hides his ball well.. u have a lot to learn... an as far as starting varsity its not that hard.. if ur decent u can make most varsity teams.. try makin it in D1 Cali ball
overall pretty good, you can easily gain a few more mph if you get your arm circle to full potential, when you break your hands throw your thumbs down and make a circle, your sorta just swinging your arm back, look at time lincecum. and on picks your arm circle is too big, you must throw like a catcher because its faster, bring your hand to your ear and throw, overall pretty good, i wish you the best of luck in college and beyond.
the only thing i see is ur lead landing foot should be pointed at 1 oclock not at like 10 oclock like what u have because then that forces your hips to open up and you lose your momentum
I agree. The lead foot not only points to 10 o'clock, but the step seems to be a little to the right and it appears he is throwing across his body. As well, and you can only see it if you pasue the video at the right moment, the pitching elbow is above the shoulder at foot plant and he doesn't get his arm in the vertical position at foot plant. Inverted W here. This does not bode well for long-term health of his shoulder or elbow.
really looks like a solid pitcher. He looks decent at the plate but could have a more aggressive approach. In all looks like a terrific ballplayer who for sure will attract more and more MLB scouts because he is only going to get better!!!
how fast does he throw it dsnt look that fast it looks like 80-84....and it looks like he rushes y does he use the slide step is he mostly a reliever?
Paul's a pitcher, not a fielder or hitter, we put it on the video to show athleticism, not necessarily to showcase that part of his game. Paul was made honorable mention All-State 5A as a pitcher, and got a college scholarship and will be pitching.
Your gonna need quiker feet if you want to play infiled, also as a 6'2 player you've got to show off your hitting alot more and build alot more muscle if you want to play the field. Hey at least your taller than 6 ft, so they may spend some time on you because of that.
if you pause it at the right time around 1:37 he has that elbow above his shoulder while his fingers are pointed down which can put a lot of strain on that elbow and shoulder to get it whipped around into the correct throwing position which can be very dangerous
dude, minervaperson, you sound like you dont even know what your talking about, and you probly dont. im sorry, but you sound like an idiot. how the hell would not using your legs and using just your arm benefit you in the way you pitch, hit, or anything in baseball, along with possibly throwing out your arm. lol, i cant believe you called using your legs antiquated, considering thats what any major league player or coach would emphasize.
your speed, it was really evident during your outfield, infield, and while you were rounding your bases, speed helps majorly. One last thing, your hitting looked very good, very good stance, but i suggest widening out your stride and stance, allowing you to use your hips and legs more to aid you in your hitting. very good video though, and keep up the good work!
hey, as a fellow 08' pitcher thats being recruited, i thought i would just give you some tips and feedback. a couple things i saw during the video, you have very good mechanics as a pitcher, but i think you should use your legs a little more, it really helps. picks are pretty good, i really cant help you since im a LHP, but just make your picks look a little more fluid, it looks like your doing it in steps. I think one big thing that you need to work on that i saw during the video was...
Here we go...another fellow HS player, that is either clueless or jealous, or both.Paul just struck out 11 batters at a recent Perfect Game Showcase, with no runs allowed, you're right, he must have done that throwing 82. Congrats on being a varsity catcher, does this also make u an MLB scout who can judge velo just by sight,(rolling eyes). Put the Haterade down for one second, please. What's your name and what school do you "play" for? Man up, please!
Dont guess I'll give out my name, but I play for Shades Valley High School in Alabama. 4th in the state last year 6A. And yeah, I can judge velocity by sight with a margin of error around 2-3 mph at the most....
He sits in the mid 80's right now, and touches upper 80's...he's a hard worker and dedicated to getting better and moving up to the next level. As he continues to fill out and refine his mechanics there's no reason he shouldn't get into the 90's soon...
Strike that. Go to college first his GPA isn't great. Hehe. Lol "Strike that". It's funny cause its baseball.

Stay on the mound your fielding is a little loose and sloppy.Good pitching size and pretty decent mechanics off the hill.Lot of potential.

not very good outfielder. Don't move all that well. Definitely good arm and mechanics on the mound. Swing looked fluid but not that powerful

mechanics are O.K. you need to keep your front knee bent through your whole motion.
your pick to second is much to slow. and when your batting you need to bring your hands up a little and get a better load.
sorry to tell you but enjoy your senior year, it will be the end of competetive baseball for you.
