When I was in my 20s, one of my favorite things to do was include myself in debate on the opposite side of my real position, just to see how far I, with my understanding on whatever the particular topic was, could carry the other point of view. It's a great exercise if you debate regularly.

I once had a dream in which Sam Harris and I knew eachother "in the biblical way." While it was pleasant enough -- sort of like Chinese food, sex (even in a dream) is good even when it's not great -- I do remember thinking in the dream that he seemed a bit boring, but purdy to look at and smart. In any case, you description of the dream was a pleasure to watch, though I realize the dream was deeply unpleasant and strange.

I often get dreams where I am sitting and talking to some person that I admire but have never met, and it's very odd because even though I never met them I'm still embarassed about my stupid behavior in the dream when I wake up.
