Not much of a buckler fighter either, but those seem to be very passive defenses for a buckler. Most often when I've seen a buckler employed effectively the fighter almost seemed to punch the opponent's weapon out of the way, meeting the weapon before the mid-swing point where it switches from force of arm to inertia carrying the weapon. Of course that strategy only really works when your very close in.
Very nice, you guys are both quick. My only comment here is shorten up your stance...get those feet closer together(shoulder width max) ..you will be faster on your feet. I'm not much of a buckler fighter..but I do know one rule that applies to all fighting...the best block is not being there. So by being able to move those feet quick, can get you out of danger without having to put yourself out of position by making a block. Also helps you dart in and out on your opponent if you need to.
which fighter are you? as for sword and buckler get rid of the basket on the sword get some full gaunts and put a cross guard on it. look up the i33 manual. it will help
@massies Great suggestions, thanks. I'll try dropping the basket when I find really light gauntlets with good protection and dexterity. I’m the fighter with brown/yellow hosen. Btw I’ve sent you a pm.
@Dimitri0809 Hi! It's called SCA Heavy Combat and is a sort of combat sport with some similarities with medieval martial sports for knights. We strive at hitting hard enough to be "fight stopping in a real fight with real swords and wearing hybrid armour". One could maybe claim that what we’re doing is a mix of blossfechten and harnischfechten.
