@kerranghighvoltage - I remember the 70s as a teen then. Inspite of the economic downturn, people generally seemed to be better mannered, flying on an airliner was often a big gala event for some people often dressing up for it. Political correctness was non-existent. Kids in many schools recited the pledge and sang the star spangled banner. Litter, air pollution, & urban decay was worsening in the major cities. Still, imho, better than today.
Hey, does anyone remember the mid-70s version of this commercial where people were walking around with HUGE 4 or 5 foot long Wrigley Spearmint Gum packs? (obviously props, of course) I thought that was one of their coolest commercials. It was around 1974-75 when it aired.
can somebody find the "let's pick a pack" commercial for Juicy Fruit that aired either during or after the Kentucky Derby on May 4, 1974? (I remember watching the KD with my mom that Saturday, and being really sick that day, and crying over not being able to attend a wedding I had looked forward to going to.)
Man, I'd love to see the one where a workman (Plumber? City street worker?) comes up from some stairs onto a city sidewalk. He has the giant pack of gum under his arm, stops at the top, and sorta bends back and sticks his fat stomach out. As a little kid, I'd crack up my older brother by imitating him.
1971? Gum to refresh? Since everybody smoked then, it was probably to cover up that gross, tobacco breath! And, he was totally trying to get her out into the woods for a little romp in the hay!
@DontForgetToJog LOL Next time I go out forget buying a girl a drink, I'll bring out some packets of gum

@MattTheSaiyan
these were the typical bikes for 14 year olds boys, but no girl ever wanted one, only in commercials
