Neil deGrasse Tyson: I like to think I know how the universe functions but I really don't. I am just regurgitating what I was taught in school to thwart ideas. I am just a man with theories without proof, I can say the moon is made of cheese but really is there tangible evidence to prove it is not? No just what we we were told, by people we do not not passed down the chain. Do the footwork yourself and depend and trust nobody.
@chooky1956 I don't believe he can. He is running for successor to Carl Sagan, and doesn't understand that it was Sagan's humility that made him so loved.
Neil's personality is why he's landing all these mainstream t.v. shows. He's quirky, smart and dumbs it down without making you feel like he's dumbing it down. That's why he's on Good Morning America. He's wants the average shmoe on the street who watches....Good Morning America. Tone it down?? do you watch t.v.?? do you understand what it takes to get your average tv viewers attention?!? Personality and Delivery like his.
@Ryousuke91t Sagan invisible to the mainstream? Tyson has not one book as successful, no TV show as successful. A few appearances on Good Morning America will not do it for him. He actually must accomplish something noteworthy. "A Demon Haunted World: science as a candle in the dark" was a best seller. The "Cosmos" series - award winning; Sagan wrote the novel Contact, the basis for a 1997 film of the same name. What exactly has Tyson done in the public eye that comes close?
@DoctorOfDisbelief oh he is in definite top form here. and yes sometimes he needs to tone it down sometimes. but this is who he is. Sagan wasnt toning it down...thats just who he was. the man is just a lil eccentric and we should just accept it. must we compare them
@jlopez9090 As he regularly makes the comparison himself, for our benefit, I don't see how we can avoid it. I refuse to post videos in which he compares himself to Sagan. It is the worst sort of personal marketing.
Certainly one of the worlds most valuable intellectual speakers, but he was a bit of an asshole when I saw him and tried to get my book signed. Guess he was tired of so many people asking, but still.
The person who pressed dislike thinks he's made of something special.
