  • I love Jason Scheff! He's the whole package!

  • Chicago is just AWSOME!!!

  • This is rare. They never sing this live.

  • yup!! very funny

  • I'm not a fan of the newer Chicago's ballad stuff, but this is a really, really good song.

  • @dereksmalls1985 Jason is an awsome musician and a beautiful person :))

  • The tempo is way to slow in this version.

  • FANTASTIC SONG AND BAND!!!

  • What the HELL is this?

  • @RobertMen12345 It's Porn. What the fuck does it look like idiot?

  • I happen to know that alot of this material that Jason does lead vocals on was on demos and waiting for Chicago and Peter Cetera to record...As you can hear, they were obviously chosen with Peter in mind...This one,"If She Would Have Been Faithful", and a number of others were ALL intended to be done with Peter,but,...thats how it goes...Jason is ok,but he will always be sort of a "generic" front man for the band...It just doesnt sound the way it should without Mr Cetera..

  • they need to turn the bass up for this song

and Jason needs to nail it.

the slides and the 1/8th notes on the root

during the chorus extremely important for the feel

of this song. the bass needed to louder in the mix

  • ohhh por dios amo esta canción!!!

  • @Yanire1 Hey!!! yo tambièn amo èsa canciòn, me recuerda momentos maravillosos!!!

  • can anybody furnish me a copy of the lyrics of this song? Thank you...

  • C'mon, Robert, Lee, Jim, and Walt. It's time to bury the hatchet and let Peter back in the group. He's founderin;you're founderin' Welcome him back in with open arms. God bless! Hit #5 in Billboard.

  • Do you want me to transcribe it?

  • Why didn't they ever do a video of this song? One of my favorites and I too, didn't realize that it wasn't Peter Cetera singing it.

  • One of my fave Chicago songs!

  • oOH, DOUBLE SWEET!

  • Thanks for posting this and all of your other videos, Jamie. We appreciate all your videos and time that goes into posting them. You have posted some real gems here. Thank You, thank you, thank you!

  • i love the song. it sounded like cetera's voice. jason is an underrated singer

  • This is a very nice song. I really like it. Good horn section.Nice words and arrangement.......But any real fan of Cetera's would know INSTANTLY this is not Peter. Jason always sounds like he's straining his voice. Peter's voice is far superior.

  • Not one of the best 'live' recordings in Chicago's repetoire in my humble opinion

  • @SuperGreatmusic:

Agreed...singer's voice sounds a bit thin and weak. I kept waiting for it to crack on the higher notes.

  • 1978? pfff, u don't know Chicago

  • Chicago is an great example why music made between 1978- 1992 was so... magical. Chicago made so many good songs. The music industry makes less good music these days. It's not as enjoyable to listen to radio now as compared to back then.

  • Gee, i always thought i was listening to Peter Cetera =S

  • lol...me too for a while but then I realized it was not him!

  • You don't remember right. Danny was long gone by the time "Night and Day" came around.

  • my Chicago's top number 1 favorite song =D

  • love this!

  • the live version is much better!!!

  • Wow one of their best songs.

  • Hands down one of their best. Performed very well. Jake I agree I have seen them many times and they just dont put this on their playlist in concert much.

  • I always thought Pete Cetera sang this, but damn does it sound so alike truly amazing.

  • Nothing like Ceteras voice.

  • Not sure if you meant this, but just to let you know, Jason is the only person who has sang this song. Cetera never did, he had already left the band. Bobby Caldwell also sings a good (better) live version of this. Bobby is the co writer of this song.

  • No I know,I was meaning all these idiots who keep harping on at "Oh jason copies ceteras voice" crap.

  • This is the best live video of this song I have ever heared. It's funny they don't play this one live very often, it was a top 10 hit in 1990.

  • This song was/is rarely sung live, good find.

  • one of my fave song...n oh his voice.....spechless :P

  • This is Jason Scheff singing right?

  • Yes its Jason

  • Huge chicago fan,saw them in the 80's live.

Bobby Caldwell could have sang vocals for them. Ran across the video, strong vocals on his verson. check it out!

  • his vocals not as good as peter, but who cares? this song is so beautiful. i wonder if peter would ever sing it...

  • Peter cetera never sang this song, Jason Scheff is the original singer of this song.

  • listen to Lurifax38 sing it. He does a killer Peter Cetera impersonation and sounds like Cetera himself singing it.

  • my fave Chicago song..

  • Easily their best single post-Cetera imo. Good to see Dave Coulier took a break from Full House to sing with Chicago.

  • @CharlesNigro very funny!

  • Fuck off, what kind of dumb question is that?

  • Nope, Jason Scheff sang this one on Chicago 19 which I believe he wrote this song.

  • Listen to Bobby Caldwell sing this song. He closely duplicates Peter Cetera's parts and makes the song sounds just like Peter Cetera himself singing the song!

  • He has a good vocal but he is nowhere near Peter or Jason.

  • it was not cetera who sang this one, right?

  • True, Jason isn't as good live as Cetera, but this is their best post-Cetera tune that is so classic Chicago. Jason Scheff has a couple of great songs on XXX and sings his ass off (check out "Long Lost Friend")! He's also a better bassist than Cetera, whose ballad blandness probably kept Chicago out of the Rock & Roll hall of fame. You may miss Cetera. I don't.

  • Nothing personal to Jason, but he was not a good replacement for Peter. Even his songs are poor when done live.

  • Love this Song, it`s very funny. XD

  • One of my favorite moments in any of the 12 Chicago concerts I've been to over the years was when Jason sang this song solo playing the piano with Jimmy playing muted trombone fills in the background. This song was the best of Chicago 19.

  • At a concert in Camden, NJ back in 99, it was Jason and Lee, but was still awesome.

  • I really love this song & i really love Chicago. But i think Jason messed d song @ 1:29. Maybe because it's a live performance??? Well, what could've been d turnout if Cetera sung this song???

  • Lovely! It's so interesting to me to watch Scheffy in his EVEN younger years. What golden gems. Thanks Jamie.

  • I've been to 3 Chicago Concerts and have yet to hear this song Live, thanks for posting. I would love to hear "You come To My Senses" too, they never do that live either.

  • I mailed Jason while he was online on myspase, and you got it he mailed me back twice and was so nice....

  • Whatever the reason Seraphine left, idc personally lol. I met Tris Imboden backstage at a Chicago concert along with Jason Scheff. Very down to earth and nice people.

This is a great song too lol

  • Wow! Thanks for posting this Chicago kid,I always love this song I have the UK version of their greatest hits CD and yeah it was called THE HEART OF CHICAGO. I didnt know they had the remixed version on that CD. Thanks for the trivias as well.. You're the man!!!

  • yes Danny was pure talent...alot of varity in him drumming.

  • this looked to be right after the original drummer was fired,I wish they had kept the original drummer.

  • I'm glad they didnt. Though i respect the guy and his talent, but he was trying to control the direction of the band, not through feedback, but by becoming a business type person and at that time, they were at a high moment. Maybe Danny's vision would of taken them in a better direction, but the band wasnt ready.

  • Tris is a passionless, less than adequate studio drummer.

  • But at least he isnt trying to turn the band into a business like Danny was. Know who i kind of miss? Dawayne Bailey. About 5 years ago i use to speak to him through emails, he actually liked my poetry. i believe he does have a myspace account, but he brought a certain flare to the band, just a damn shame Robert Lamm never really thought he fit in the band.

  • I'll just never forget the times I saw Danny with the band. I don't care about band politics. He is a great drummer. He has his version of what happened, but I've never really heard the band's explanation. Danny claims all of the other guys were so heavy into drugs and whatever that he had no choice but to handle a lot of the business issues. When the others started sobering up, they didn't like the fact that he was controlling a lot of the business aspects. Who knows?

  • Aye i can agree there, who truely knows. theres always 3 sides to every story. theres on persons side, theres the other persons side, then theres the entirely truth. Danny Is a great drummer

  • dawayne was too rock for them, i guess. probably 'cause he was an axl rose wannabe. hahahahaha.

  • I don't know about *that*.... Danny and Tris are both really good.

  • You say that pretty authoritatively. There are *many* stories that go around about Seraphine's departure. What "direction" did he want to take them that they objected to?

  • Jimmy seems to be alluding to them feeling a little worn out. It kind of shows. Tempo's a little sluggish, Jason's not spot-on. But fun to see the full-band version of this, with the horn-break and everything.
