  • A splendid and moving motion picture. Thank you for posting.

  • Absolutely beautiful movie and amazing actors!!!

  • beautifull , thank you

  • love this movie. betty came through :)

  • I am glad I don't live in the 50s.

  • Truly one of the most touching movies I have seen to date, this movie approaches conservatism with such clarity. It dispels with the image of America being devoid of what we here in India call 'moral values'. Thank you for having uploaded it. Its bound to create a lasting impression, and I assure you Ms. katherine Ann Watson has broken through a lot many walls other than those depicted in the film.

  • love this movie, it's one of my all time faves :) julia is such a great actress and i love the message to follow your own path without regard to what others may think or say

  • we saw the first 5 minutes of this movie for orientation. they meant to show us how we should study the subject before we take classes... which is somewhat ironic after seeing the whole thing.

lovely movie, thank you for uploading it :)

  • this is 1 of the best movies i watched since i was young:D..^_^...luv it so much still:D

  • One of the best movies, I asked my students to watch this movie, they do like it. God! Julia Roberts is awesome.

  • thanks so much for posting this! my A.P. U.S. History teacher mentioned this movie while we were in the chapter about women during the 50's and I wanted to see it ever since, so I was really happy to see that someone had put it on YouTube (and that the picture quality is great)! this movie really helped me understand what women in the 50's had to go through (just like how the movie Iron-Jawed Angels helped me understand what women had to go through just to get the right to vote). thanks again!

  • @TechieNinja18 You are very welcome!

  • While I'm very into nostalgia, and I wish some things would make a comeback, I'm glad that some things have changed and have progressed. I love the music, films, styles of earlier eras etc but I don't know if I would have wanted to live back then, just have a time machine and go back and visit, LOL. Great movie, by the way.

  • And so she goes to Live, Eat, and Pray

  • THANK YOU FOR A NICE MOVIE

  • i hoped she will stay with Bill, they were sweet together

  • <3

  • brought tears to my eyes, and i'm only 12. :')

  • I don't know. If I was in Katherine's place, after receiving all those paint-by-numbers canvases, I might have changed my mind and stayed. She DID make a difference and even with the extra restrictions placed upon her by the school, she could still have worked in her own bit of magic in between the lines of the standard syllabus. This has become one of my favorite films, even though I KNOW it's full of anachronisms and flaws, I still enjoy the nostalgic sense of a "simpler time."

  • Thank you. A lot. This is a wonderful movie, just like the color purple and green fried tomatoes. Goddess bless you.

  • I love this movie. :)

  • What an awe-strucking movie. It didn't fail to make me cry :'(

  • I had tears in my eyes at the end! thank you so much for uploadig!

  • Great, beautiful, wonderful movie. Thank you for posting.

  • what a great movie..AWESOME i really really love it :)

  • @TheKimmyJade19 yeah, in saying that though I still think it's important to get an education and if you do choose to be a housewife make sure it's a sustainable choice where you're not bludging off the government. On top of that you need ways to keep your mind occupied- talking babies and cleaning products may be novel for a while but you don't want your brain to turn to goop =D

  • Being from Pakistan, I can completely relate to the women in this movie. In my culture, being married and being a wife is still considered the number one important thing in life but we can still go after our career if we want=] women sure have come far!

  • This was a wonderful movie. I cried so many times. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful.

  • Can anyone tell me where the interview at 1:35 is from? I've never seen it before and haven't been able to find it anywhere.

  • Was this based on a true story????????????????

  • This movie is wonderful and God is Julia Roberts beautiful.

  • this movie was wondeful thanks for uploaded..

  • cried at the end :,) what a beautiful movie. I think i've found what i'm going to write my next review on :) thank you for posting it up

  • I feel like this movie has changed me in so many ways. Thank you so much DragonflyNoir10 for uploading.

  • thanks for uploading this video. I've tried to catch up on the last words of elizabeth. "I've heard her call a quitter for living, an aimless wanderer but not all who wander are aimless. Especially not those who seek truth beyond tradition, beyond definition, beyond an ancient." did I hear it right? LOL

  • @ruelf21 she says "a quitter for LEAVING" and "beyond an image"

  • @somethingswicked

    thanks!

  • @ruelf21 "beyond tradition, beyond definition, beyond the image"

  • the mother is such a bitch..

  • I love how throughout the whole movie, katherine and betty have this antagonistic relationship but in the end, it's betty who's incredibly grateful.

  • Thanks for posting this movie. I tried to find it in Red Box and on Video On Demand through Amazon, but I was not able to find it. This was a great movie to watch for a character study I am doing for my counseling class. Great examples of Feminist Theory in action!

  • what a nice movie... mt ethic teacher showed this for the role of the womens but the true meaning of the movie is the beauty..:)

  • The ending always makes me cry :(

Its amazing how much impact one person can make in so many people's lives.

  • Thank you so much for uploading. I can truly say I'm better for having watched this. And doesn't Julia Roberts have a beautiful voice?

  • I admit it I cried at the end.! What a beautiful film.

  • @RichKnight2010 Sexism is something deeply ingrained in our culture of humanity as a whole, we cannot change it it without attacking everything around us. It would be wonderful if no one got looked down on, but it'll take a long time to change, so don't be so down and look at other cases of supression because it envelopes our world. :)

  • Thanks for uploading! I always find this movie ot be insiprational and very deep and intoxicating. I think that everyone should have a kind of class like Ms. Watson's where you learn something about yourself in the process, opening up to something new and delicious. Thank you very much!

  • Thank you for the movie. Being an Indian girl from modern India I can completly relate to the women in America then. And how people like Ms. Watson are till date are looked down for choosing the life they chose and not the society chose for them. American women have come a long way since bringing hope to women from countries like mine. Proud to be a woman.

  • i really love the ending. The movie ends with a smile as promised my the title.

  • my favorite movie!

  • if you don't cry every time you see that last scene... you have no soul.

  • I think that it's interesting how the videos of the 1950s shown at the end mirror what Roberts said to her students- how will they judge us? A girdle, A soap ad, In truth advertising and home ec edco videos are very much part of what the modern image of the 1950s american dream in pop culture. Advertising is after all what a culture projects is the ultimate luxury that's going to make your life better. I really liked this, someday we might be someone else's 1950s.

  • I love this movie. I could watch it over and over it. Thank you for uploading!

  • I tear up EVERY time I see the last scene of the girls on their bikes. Such an excellent movie. Thanks for the upload !!

  • Shit...I cried anyway lol THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE UPLOAD!!

  • this movie was sooooo gooooood!

  • i looovvee this movie. :) thanks for uploading

  • Thanks so much for uploading this movie- I loved it!!! Great quality by the way:)

  • @dragonflynoir10 once again thank u for all the videos u upload i enjoy watching them;)and this is one of my favorite movies along with iron jawed angels and a few others ;)!! this last part always make me cry + julia roberts amazing actress :love her and all her movies:) thnx a lot! but i still think that poeple shouldnt think that all women should have carrers ,there are stay at home moms and that may i say is the greatest job ever, crazy world never fair, how about settling in the midlle ;) :d

  • you know, usually when the couple does not get back together i usually feel sad, but that didn't happen this time. It just felt right, cause I feel she did what was right for her. And all of these actresses were AWESOME!!!!!

  • I love this movie so much! That ending is FANTASTIC! When all the girls are around the car to show that they want to follow her, remember her and they want her to remember them. I just LOVE it!

  • I love this movie so much! That ending is FANTASTIC! When all the girls are around the car to show that they want to follow her, remember her and they want her to remember them. I just LOVE it!

  • So richknight2010 you want women to stay the same? Be housewives? No woman wants that.

  • @RichKnight2010 haha everyone feels targeted and nobody wins.

  • GREAT MOVIE,I LOVE IT

  • Maggie Gyllenhall is a star in this.

  • yeah, I was surprised. That was a wonderful movie. Now I'll have to buy it....and the soundtrack.

  • .. my new fav movie =D

  • great movie :)

  • Notice that all of the cleaning, food, and cooking commercials and shows have only women in them.

  • thank u very much for this movie...

  • Do Joan ever become a lawyer?

  • WW2 decimated so many men, that to get a man a woman had to be a mother at home. The late 60's saw women throwing away false eyelashes. One day people will laugh at us,we can have a career, family or both, yet we have false eyelashes, teethwhitner, false breasts and dirty, cynical minds (generalization). It will change and then change again. That's why you should question today's standards and decide to join,or change.

  • Wow the end really got to me, how much Katherine meant to the girls especially Betty who was so confused but probably Katherine's teaching meant more to her than anybody. I think it's important you form that union in school, maybe it's because my high school was very [very] small and had a limited amount of students but you form a bond between your classmates and teachers that you almost feel like family.

  • @fire34fly I don't really get how American schools are filled with so much students, do you really get encouraged by your teachers on a personal level or is that frowned upon to get too close with your students?

  • I loved this film. Thank you for uploading it!

  • one of my fav films thanks for uploading it.

  • i loved this movie!

  • Thanks for this great movie!

    Blessings!

  • i always wanted to see this movie and now i did, thanks!

  • Thanks for uploading! One of my favourite films - intelligent and interesting with amazing acting but still light and easy watching.

  • Well thank God our society is not like that anymore..females in the work force competing with men who are equal I do love the sense of family unity the 50 produced now a days the family is sepreated by all these different techonology everyone is off doing their own thing. Most Families don't even eat together anymore only on speacial occassions :(

  • Is that such a bad thing? Maybe we're just more honest? More individualistic? I don't see much proof that families were genuinely closer than they are now. Families, like humans, have the same problems and faults no matter what era they're in.

  • O no LOL-its a great thing that women are equal now with men, I dont think the 50s are better then today's generation I just think that they had a way of hiding if there were any problems in the home. Now a days its common for people to get divorce & children to bridge gaps with parents etc. But you got to admitt the 50's appered to be more "wholesome" & family orientated on the outside regardless that was the true nature of the home.

  • i am very greatful that you uploaded this movie..this is just what i needed...u saved my life!!thank you

  • 0:44

    Priceless. Reaction. EVER.

This movie's awesome. Thanks for sharing. ^^

  • the movie was so touching and very inspiring:)

  • Thanks for uploading this! I've always loved it.

  • This movie always leaves me a little melancholy. I think it's almost reversed these days that if you don't have a career and choose to be a housewife instead you're somewhat looked down upon?

  • @hobobetty I agree. I in a way like how it was back then. Things seemed so simple.

  • @hobobetty I think you have point but there is also the issue of how even career women are supposed to do the work of a housewife practically. Childcare, cooking and cleaning still fall for the most part on the woman in most heterosexual relationships. Lawyers and doctors are still expected to have dinner on the table.

  • @hobobetty No, I dont think it's that. It's more, if you believe that's all there is in the world for you to do, weather you'd want to or not. If being a housewife truly makes you happy, and fufills you, then there isn't a thing wrong with it. BUT, if you have other dreams and goals beond that, you should make sure you go for them. :)

  • It's like Joan said, "You're the one who said I could do anything I wanted. This is what I want." If a woman can stay at home and raise her kids, more power to her. My mother is one and she is one of the strongest, most intelligent women I know. And I am grateful for the example she sets for me. How hypocritical it is that we tell women that we can do anything we want and then limit ourselves to "real" careers?

  • wow. inspiring movie.

    thanks for putting it up.

  • your very kind to put this film up

    thank you

  • love it!

  • thank you so much for uploading , i love this movie :D

  • i liked this movie thanks
