  • Stern's a bit of a jerk in this, he wants people to fight.

  • fa fah flunky ...

  • Just watch the "Lost Episodes" of Ren and Stimpy to get an idea of where John K. wanted to take the show. I don't blame Nick for firing him. That being said I love John K.'s cartoons. He's probably the best cartoonist alive today and I think if he was a little more open to outside input, he'd be getting the recognition he deserves.

  • Wouldn't it be great if Billy and John did another interview as Ren and Stimpy? I feel for John I really do.

  • They didn't think Ren & Stimpy was high-end? Small comment but I think it obviously used much more detail then the other cartoons and also more fluid.

  • funny, you got one of the most brilliant voice actors + one of the most unique brilliant artist/creator (in my opinion)--so, even though it sounds like it didn't go that well, it's still a pretty cool story

  • I like how Howard rips on Gary for screwing it up, but then goes on to get literally every single description wrong when he is asking the questions.

  • It's all a matter of morality. You can't say "a job's a job" because that's pretty heartless. I'm sure if anyone had something similar happen to them, they would be pissed. Just because it's Billy West doesn't make him invulnerable to fault.

  • I feel like they're all attacking Billy. He did nothing wrong. John K. expected Billy to leave with him, but why should he have!? A job is a job. John's just embarassed that his show got cancelled.

  • @crashone1 : Actually, Billy told John K that he was going to stick with him... listen to the whole interview...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 I did listen to the whole interview. I'm almost positive that Billy never said he would stick with John. It was just a job. Billy was excited for the opportunity to work on such a creative cartoon. When John K. got fired, Billy felt "well, it's a job, why should I give that up?" I agree with Billy. But it's not really fair to both parties. Howard Stern is prodding away at both of them, trying to stir up an arguement. Anyway, that's my opinion. Haha.

  • @crashone1 : They go into detail about West agreeing to stick with Spumco (his employer at the time, who gave him a chance to make some real money, a chance he never got at any other time, including with Stern) and West never once raises his voice in protest as he tries to squirm out of why he said he invented the voice of Ren, which was another lie. Judging by his reactions during the rest of this, he would have certainly spoke up had he not agreed... he doesn't say he did it, but he does...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 ... try to give excuses why he didn't, implying he said he would. You're entitled to whatever opinion you have, but turning your back on pertinent info regarding the situation only devalues said opinion... the bottom line is this: They were sitting on a gold mine with R&S, and John K was never able to recapture his momentum, R&S turned to homogenized shit and West became a voice-over hack. Everyone loses.

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 I kind of understand. Haha. I see you're point about Billy lying about inventing Ren's voice, but what Billy says is pretty true. "Billy goes on the air to talk about Billy." He can't be talking about how amazing John K. is all the time. I do see you're points though.

  • @crashone1 : Well, there's a difference between talking about yourself and lying... when asked where he got Ren's voice he should be truthful. He can talk about himself all he wants to, but implying he came up with that voice is dishonest... it's like if he was asked about Stimpy's voice and not mentioning Larry Fine...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 True. Billy maybe shouldn't have been so dishonest, you it's still not completely fair that everybody seems to be putting him in this corner and expecting him to be cool about it. John's just a frustrated talent.

  • @crashone1 : Sure he is... he worked in animation for a while and knew how rare an opportunity to work on something seminal like R&S... as far as putting West in a corner, well that's Stern for ya...

  • @DeepSouthWrestling1 Haha yeah, I s'pose so. I guess I'd be pretty pissed too since the odds of working on a cartoon on TV is one-in-a-billion.

  • @crashone1 : Compound that with how rare it is to actually be working on a GOOD cartoon!! 99% of them are doo-doo! John K had to slog through a lot of shitty cartoons to get to R&S...

  • Sttimpyyyy!!!! You EEEDIOT!

  • West is a fucking god. Kricfalusi is a fucking asshole.

  • @saretardedfilms : Possibly, but John K did wayyyy more for West than West ever did for John K...

  • Hate John K. He's the most egotistical, condescending brat I've ever heard.

  • What a bunch of ratfucks trying to sabatoge Billy! Why should Billy quit and be broke just because this guy was an "artist".

  • The Ren & Stimpy that John K. would have wanted would've sucked. Ideally for him, it would have been Ren and Stimpy pissing, shitting and vomiting every 5 seconds (did anyone watch the Spike tv version?) Ironically, it was nickelodeon's censoring that made the show better, they both had to meet half way between "too over the top" and "too tame". You can't rely on gross out humor all the time to be funny, sometimes it takes a little more effort than that.

  • @jeslee213 : Um, John K CREATED Ren & Stimpy... he knew better than anyone how the characters should act & be. Ren & Stimpy sucked so bad without John K, it got cancelled. The first season was definitely the best, and that's the season John K was unencumbered because no one expected it to be a hit...

  • Do Larry Fine...

"Hey Moe, I pee'd on my shoe."

    West is fucking awesome

  • Jackie's laughs during the awkward silences are priceless.

  • Greatest scumbag ever ! Just like Jacky. John. Kc. And u.

  • Billy West is the greatest person ever.

  • "no, do it as larry"

"hey moe i peed on my shoe"

  • Billy West is a cool motherfucker.

  • @reg5381 jackie fuckin sucked cock.fred is great fuck robin

  • Comment removed

  • @CQ1981331 Any Stern fan that thinks Jackie sucked cock isn't a real Stern fan. The Jackie and Billy West era were the Golden Era of Stern. Just look at the past ten years. Awful.

  • airport hangars full of koreans...

what do u do, shove rice under the door...and they keep drawing.

  • He really sounds like his Fry character - I didn't realize that was his "normal" voice

  • they say his fry voice is closest to his original voice

  • billy west + jackie era...greatest

  • Yes indeedy

  • Billy was 100x more talented and brought more to the show than Hackie.

  • @FranchiseLove agreed.

  • why's the sound so clear?

  • Howard belching in between stuff is always great

    booey

Hearing Billy doing the Stimpy voice is classic, I had no idea it was supposed to be Larry, but it sounds just like a cartoon Larry would!

  • The Larry/Stimpy voice is awesome

  • I agree thanks a lot c puss.

  • BEST YEARS EVER HANDS DOWN!

  • This argument is so friggin fascinating.

  • Howard RULES, you don't.

  • It's more of the latter, but he's funny so he gets away with it.
