GREG MAY of Orlando, FL says: "In 1968 Victoria Winters was sentenced to hang for witchcraft on ABC-TV's DARK SHADOWS. At the same time, Julie Jamison was sentenced to hang for murder on CBS-TV's THE EDGE OF NIGHT. Both shows aired at 3:30 PM EST."
If only SyFy or ANY channel would play this again at night. All the memories of those episodes that began with the gentle: "My name is Victoria Winters."
I remember this storyline of 1795. I remember how the plot zipped along after one of the characters jumped from Widow's Hill and (in his bereavement)Barnabas allowed his wrath to explode. What a well-developed plot.
Ladies and Gentlemen - I just finished the intro for my first horror mystery film "Genesis and Catastrophe". It's on my channel. If you like it please leave a comment and if you dislike it please don't be rude, I very much appreciate your support!
I am also looking for other filmmakers to collaborate.
Please rate, comment and pass it on to your friends.
wow,,, now i cant wait 4 the movie!!! i remember, running home from school every day 2 sit in front of the t,v, with my 3 sisters to drool over Barnabas!!!! dark shadows!!!!
You know, looking back on it, what DIDN'T this 1795 storyline not cover in the realm of supernatural horror plus good old fashioned drama? Voodoo witchcraft, witch hanging, witch trial, endless vampire curse, time travel, spurned love, the walking dead, ghosts, duels, exorcism, suicide, walling someone in a la Cask of Amontillado, list goes on...fabulous.
While the 'cousin from england' story arc was great, my favorite part of the series was the 1795 flashback. The intro of Angelique, the bitch-er-witch that riuned everything, Barnabas at his best as both human and vampire, and the 'Rev' trask going satisfyingly overboard. Ben was great, too... and Sarah Collins rocks!
My favorite scene from this period was when Barnabus says to Ben, "The witch has taken your voice so you are unable to tell me her name. But you can still write Ben. Write her inititial in the dust on this barrow, Ben." Ben draws a "V". "Barnabus says "V for Victoria" with a puzzled tone. Ben turns the barrow around and draws a line through it. Barnabus says "A for Angelique".
Tim Burton's doing the new Dark Shadow movie, eh? Well---there's goes the prospect of a half-way decent feature. Burton's style used to be fun and imaginative, (Edward Scissorhands was different), but his latest movies don't entertain me at all. (I even predicted the scary moments before they happened in Headless Horseman---come on, don't telegraph "too much, too soon".)
I'm sure the DS movie will be entertaining to today's crowd, but it won't have the magic of the original series.
@Smalltowngal29 I'm scared to death that Burton will ruin it. Especially sense Depp is going to be Barnabas and I don't think he'll make a good Barnabas at all. Alot of Burton's remakes haven't been all that great.
@Bargoth60 I am todays crowd and I don't think I will like it at all. Burton is loseing his touch. I have to agree with you, alot of his recent work just haven't been to great.
Your "Dark Shadows 1795 Trailer" *ROCKS!*!!! It is so well done. . .thanks for doing it. Amazing, and really well imagined & edited. I saved it. That show was on TV years before I was born, but I got to see it later, in the late 1970s when I was a kid, and it was. . .pretty scary, disturbing. I always especially liked the 1795 sequence. Thanks a lot!!!
WOW (I know, I use that alot, but I am so frequently BLOWN AWAY by how talented you and others that do these DS videos are!)!! I only just came across this today and have already replayed it six or seven times! Your choice of music is so dead on; if you don't do this for a living, then you should. Chatroomchi's comment is so true. Thanks for sharing this with all of us Dark Shadows die-hards....truly magnificent!
@mozzillla : FYI: That was Bathia Mapes, a good witch who did battle with the spirit of Angelique in order to free Barnabas from the vampire curse. However Bathia Mapes lost the fight. Angelique's spirit burned her to death with supernatural fire!
Just from watching this trailer I ordered the 5th collection of dvds! The 1795 episodes are like the only ones that I haven't seen and I'm so excited to get it!!!
This was absolutely fantastic. I love the fast pace of the clips. A very tragic time period made even more riveting with your excellent choice of musical arrangement. X-Ray Dog is a wonderful soundtrack for DS. An instant favorite!
I loved it! Beautiful job, and I love the music too. But yes, please please please do a Quentin's ghost trailer! That was one of my favorite storylines as well.
That is AWESOME! It literally made me forget that there were many "awkward" moments on DS. I bet if that trailer were shown to advertise a mini-series or movie, at least half of the nation would want to see it. Great fun! Thank you!
Fantastic Dark Shadows trailer!! 1795 was the most dramatic and tragic storyline in the whole show, and you captured it all in only 1 minute and 51 seconds! You are truly talented at making DS videos!!
Wow that was excellent! the music, the scenes, everything was fantastic. WTG I agree, you surely deserve 5 if not more for that piece, ty for sharing. keep them coming. Great Show that was.
i don't believe what i just saw.......go to the head of the class and take these 5 stars with you.....btw...great action snippets including that one at :52 poor ben stokes trying to get a stranglehold on the witch to no avail.....CLASSIC STUFF---1795! or was it 1796?
Oh my! This was absolutely beautiful. Excellent in fact. I re-visited the 1795 storyline in the spring and early summer.. show by show and it was riveting. You have done an excellent job as you usually do. Your Love Song to a Vampire is my absolute favorite. I watch it at least once a week. Please keep up your work.
I've watched this many times since I found it a couple of years ago and it never fails to give me goosebumps!
