"That's what love can do." Great video, and I love Cindy scolding the "friends" who asked about DCJ being home. Also, great message about not wanting pity and sympathy, but respect for who he is a person. Glad the film survived.
Even nowadays people now far too less about such diseases. When I was a child I was scared of retarded people, because I didn´t new anything about it. After I read a book with a boy with down syndrome as one of the leading charakters (you will find it odd, but the book was "duddits" by stephen king) I started to understand and respect retarded people. Great video and sorry for bad english ^^"
I have a new baby with downs and he 2 has 4 older sisters that loive and adore him... I hope My son is taken good care of. Just as you are doing for your brother
It was very nice to "meet" you both! It is refreshing to see families like yourselves from the 'old' days not put a child with DS into a home. I have a five year old son named Braedyn with DS, and I could never ever fanthom the idea of instituitions.
Through my overly sensitive tears I thank you for sharing your story. How wonderful I feel for you and your brother for you having brought him home with you.
Your family is so wonderful for breaking the mold and bringing your brother home back in the time when most children with DS were institutionalized, and you are such a great sister to care for him now.
I work with special needs children, and they are a true blessing and gift from God! :) I love you my little Nathan!
