Sucks Nissan changed the interior of the Versa Sedan. Picture the Exterior of the current 2012 Versa with re-shaped back lights + interior of the 2010 Versa. With today's economy, people want the best bang for the buck. A vehicle like the Versa Sedan which offers good head and leg room. 4 DR., CVT-Transmission and 100HP enough to get you around.

Some corrections to this review. 2012 Versa comes as Base, SV, and SL trims. Base comes with manual windows and a cheaper gauge cluster (no tach and lit with traditional bulbs), and a 2-spkr stereo. SV adds power windows, upgraded gauges with tach and LED illumination, chrome front grill and exterior door handles, and 4-spkr stereo. Step up to the SL and you get cloth on interior door panels, chrome interior door handles, and alloy wheels. GPS is optional.
@ladyyuna2000 I'm considering both as well for my next car. Simply put, the Accent has a more powerful engine AND gets better fuel economy. It also has a much better warranty. Interior finish is a notch better in the Accent. The Accent has a 6-speed auto, while the Versa has a gearless CVT transmission. On paper, the Accent is the clear winner, but I have a feeling I might still prefer the Versa for some strange reason.
@palebeachbum the accent is nice but the versa is a much better value for the money. The accent sacrifices interior quality and passenger space for a more powerful engine and supposedly better fuel economy. Nissan is coming out with a more powerful engine as an upgrade, not sure if its a new 1.8L or a more powerful and/or direct injected 1.6L.
@palebeachbum I'd take the Versa. Sure, the new Hyundais look nice and all, but they dont have proven reliability like Nissan does. Wait 5 to 10 years to confirm that this new phase of Hyundai is true, or it's just mommentary with great looks but then the cars arent buil that well. Nissan instead has a past of building reliable cars, that will last long, and this cars offers a great package overall. Best interior room in the segment
There are some mistakes on this review. There are actually 3 trim levels not just 2 as was mentioned. They are the S, the SV, and the SL. The SV reviewed is not the lowest trim level either that's the S. The SL doesn't come with leather. Its upgraded cloth.
This car looks nice in person. It's not an overly busy design and the price point is great. You can get the top of the line SL model for 17K and change and that includes a navigation package. Not bad for a car that gets 30 city and 38 hwy
Nissan should have done better than this. The new small cars that are out or soon to come out are so much better looking than this on the exterior and interior. I guess rental car companies need some car to buy and it will be the new Versa!
@jschmitz23 a lot of new cars particularly ford and hyundai are WAY TOO OVERHYPED. IMO this is a bit better than the accent or even the elantra for that matter. I won't say it's better or worse than the fiesta or focus only because ford has a bit of an edge in terms of technology. I will say this is much better than the chevy cruze, toyota corolla, honda civic, and vw jetta.
@2004NissanSentra It isnt bad looking, but that's about it. I really dislike Toyota products in general because of their lack of quality, and old school technologies. How can they still use a 4 speed in 2012?
@datpimpinboy the 2012 yaris is much better than the old version in terms of quality and they will be getting a new engine and CVT either in 2013 or 2014. The new corolla coming in 2013 will also have a CVT.
these car companies are fucked, they are so greedy that they refuse to build electric cars and continue to build shitty gas cars with enternal combustion engins, its such an old method, oil is going to run out, we need electric cars, they keep making the gas cars to make money and dont want to compete with electric car manuafactureres
@witchcraftlord well am from a third world country and we dont have the technology for electrical cars yet so i guess places like here is were they get there money from
@fred12662000 Its not your fault where you are from, I didnt chose to be born in the most multi cultural city, where thoasands of people come to work and live and even be homeless because they know they can make money pan handeling and dont have to pay rent, its true , that last point, was in one of the newspapers, i dont live in Toronto, but they need build more houses to get homeless on the street, soon the world may learn stop relying on oil, and go enviro- friendly
One thing that made no sense in the previous Versa sedan was why there was no inside trunk release. Glad to see they finally installed one. I can't imagine that it would be expensive to install one. I feel like this car is a step backwards in some regards. Folding rear seats are only on the SL. You have to pay extra to even get map lights in the SV. The base S model only offer cruise as an option with the CVT and by that time you've reached SV price territory. Finally, where is the armrest?
@Dunoj This is a budget new car, those features aren't going to matter to a price conscious buyer. The new Versa is currently the best selling subcompact.
@igeekone: Funny, I would of thought that the Fit would be the best selling subcompact. That or the Yaris. I would so take this over a Yaris every day of the week and the Fit would be my number one choice. Also it depends on the buyer. People want the most features they can get in a car and there are those who won't care and there are those who will.
People love to criticize, but you gotta realize this is probably one of the cheapest cars you can buy out there, and for the money you get a decent looking car, with a decent interior (the chrome rims around the instrument cluster as well as the gauges look very nice), with a very roomy back seat and pretty good fuel economy. IMO if they had done something better with the headlights it would look pretty sweet.
Well you get what you pay for with this car. The interior is very cheap. At least it has a lot of room. But you could probably get a much nicer 1 owner used car for this price.
@2004NissanSentra Ok I guess so. I haven't seen the interior in person yet so I really can't say how cheap it is. It is one of the most affordable cars you can buy new so I can't criticize it too much.
@datboiwes333 if it gets the 2.0L engine next year then it will go up against the focus & elantra, ive heard rumors that they're doing away with the sentra
@kiasucksPERIOD I guess so, lol, nissans trucks aren't bad though, especially the titan which is pretty sweet, their sedans are good though, the altima and the maxima are good although the versa and sentra aren't that great, I liked the old sentras much more than the new ones. As for their suvs, they aren't too good except for the 2013 armada which is going to be awesome and the quest is amazing. And infintii makes great cars.
@Carnut91 Isn't that obvious? for any new car there are better cars you can find used. But if you want a new, inexpensive, and reliable car, I think this is the right car.
not too shabby. I think its better than the old car but it has gone downhill in terms of quality of the interior. The previous generation Versa had an interior that looked more upscale but the new rearseat room makes it more functional.
@yellofury i care to disagree, i find the interior in this one much much better than the old one, the door panels are actually padded whereas the old ones were all hard rough plastic. the old interior was way outdated like it was something from an early 90s general motors product in terms of looks & quality
Leather is not available in the Versa.
