arm looks ok to me, i just think its how they shaded it the closer it got to the elbow it started to look flat,... in which one can easily look at their own arm for a reference... the skin on the arm near the joint never becomes flat, but out of many 3D games/images ive seen most ppl tend to make it that way... anyways I think the shading in tha crevice messes the arm up a bit.. the dark shadow shouldnt spread to the outter parts of the arm.

What your friend does is far less impressive than

it appears to be. But I totally understand why you

are impressed. To sum it up:

It's a V3 (laser scanned professional grade commercial

model), with a free (but quite good) Kozaburo (Kyoko?)

wig both set to default textures. IIRC the pose is a pose

shipped with the V3 series of Victoria but I might be wrong

on this one. From the viewport his Poser version is at least 5. I'd guess 6 and it's far from maxing out it's

capabilities.

there is plenty of good tutorials on poly modeling, no need to hack a Poser model, just draw or get some good reference pictures for front and side. It's easier done than said.

If you use Maya it's really easy to get the arms to bend correctly, just use a series of lattice cages and attach them to the skeleton, you can then adjust the lattice influence on the polygons a lot better than with the skeleton alone.

Yes, that's what really puzzles me. I don't understand how it is that her face the most difficult part of a body to draw close to hands and feet is so convincingly done, yet her arm and region about her chest appears so anatomically wrong. Was it a real person's face that was digitally scanned and meshed into the software or similar?

If not, why do such a bad job of her arms?

Use more than one light (shadows are black only in western 3D renderings), and study some anatomy. BTW, adjusting light to make fore- "go with" back-ground is only q trick to solve composition.

Although your edge looping needs some work...I try to keep every poly as perfect quads, as it not only increases the phisical quality of your work, but also makes life easier when it comes to sculpting. But I guess that's subject to personal prefrenses and objectives.
