  • Comment removed

  • @MrSharkey11 Where and Why do drugs come in to play? further i'm sorry to say but I have no idea what your talking about.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrSharkey11 He does NOT look like the devil too me. All I saw was a dude dancing.

  • @MrSharkey11 actually my original comment was asking your same questions too a different person. I wanted for him to explain why he looked like the Devil and not just like a dancing dude. Though I liked your response concerning religion, but it wouldn't be so strong since I have also been brought up to fear the devil and all that... but did not see this dude as the devil.

But then again, I have to wonder how you could know what the Devil looks like to make this comparison

  • @JimmyPage97 , I apologize for taking your comment out of context. Also, I can't say what the devil(if it exsists) looks like. I only know that evil does exsist, and manifests itself as a definite force on many levels of exsistence, and within the consciousness of that creature known as man! Peace to you!

  • @MrSharkey11 I wonder. Could peace exist with out the existence of hatred?

  • @JimmyPage97, In the world of duality things often go by their opposites. How would we know one without the other? Good&bad, wet&dry, darkness&light ,high&low, long&short, etc. etc.,and so on. Beyond this the sages & wise men say there exists a higher reality of which all these other things are realitive in comparison to the oneness of the whole. Does this make any sense to you?

  • @MrSharkey11 makes perfect sense. But I don't know if your answer is equally as clear.

"I wonder. Could peace exist with out the existence of hatred?"

    Your Answer : No

    Am I wrong?

  • @JimmyPage97,YES, that is to say that peace can most certainly exist without the existence of hatred! Hatred in itself is a state of mind just as peace is.

  • @MrSharkey11 I think otherwise. Yin comes with yang.

  • @JimmyPage97 , The reality of yin,and the reality of yang are both separate realities in themselves. They are different in that they provide a contrast, and refference point in our perception. What I ment is that peace can certainly exist with the exclusion of hate, and visa versa. Idon't deny that they both exist side by side.

  • @MrSharkey11 "The reality of yin, and the reality of yang are both seperate realities in themselves."

Again I think the truth is otherwise. Yin and Yang exist only because its opposite exists.

  • @JimmyPage97 I would have to deny that Yin and Yang theory. middle is the average of the 2 yin and yang, This isn't the average because it was made that way, but because it's comparatively average. In reality it could be 20%Yin and 80% yang, but we take the 30% Yang and give it to yin to make it even.

Another counter-argument is that (Assuming you know chemistry) a proton (+) is MANY times larger than an electron (-). who's to say it's all around neutral instead of comparatively neutral.

  • @chinaboyd First it is not my theory, neither am I very educated on it. But none the less...I do not think the Yin-Yang is a 50/50 thing. Its theory based around Balance.

  • @JimmyPage97 I would disagree. I believe yin and yang are only assumptions of what is the opposite based on comparative reasoning. you could, in a completely neutral world, have 20% yin and 80% yang, but in our minds, be habituated to 30% yang, so then yin and yang are comparatively neutral, but in that reality isn't.

A good example is subatomic particles. a proton's (+) mass is about 1833 times an electron's (-) mass. but they're opposite. So are they exact or comparative opposites?

  • @chinaboyd for your example. Its not the size or shape that is the concern here, it is that both positive and negative exist in harmony to each other.

  • @JimmyPage97 I'm terrible at explaining things. But kinda...Political parties (In america) are divided by left and right, liberal and conservative, which could also be interpreted as yin and yang. In reality, one is super-right while another is slightly less right in political terms. but we are used to compare them by their average in america which would be about mid-right, which is biased on one side (The right, which is comparatively neutral, not absolute). That's what I was trying to say.

  • @chinaboyd I understand what you said, but I don't understand how that helps your argument.

  • @JimmyPage97 the difference between yin and yang can be decreased and shifted one way, so Yin and yang aren't milestones for peace or violence.

  • @chinaboyd i never said it was a milestone. Its like a "law" or something, made symbolically to exemplify balance

  • @chinaboyd there are no numbers being used. It's not like we can say somebody is only 45% evil. I mean one side of a yin-yang is like 90% black and only 10% white (and vise-versa on the other half). If you could use numbers we wouldn't need to use symbolism.

  • @JimmyPage97 The numbers I use are absolutes of what I'm trying to demonstrate as opposed to the comparative 50 / 50 that Yin and Yang represent.

    Let's make a hypothetical society called "1"

1 believes your only colors are black, grey and anything inbeteen, so by default, then there is no color lighter than that lightest gray (Which we know to be false because there is white). 1 is unaware of whites existence and is habituated to dark grey being what we think of as grey. Do you understand?

  • @chinaboyd I would have to wonder how this hypothetical society number 1 has came to a belief that "your only colors are black, grey and anything in between."

Further (if I remember from elementary right) first grade art class can teach someone that the color black is actually a color which DOES NOT reflect light, but instead absorbs all our visible colors. An existence of ALL the colors of the light spectrum in one. In a world of grey, I do not believe one could experience the color Black.

  • @JimmyPage97 How doesn't matter. We can't fully see white, since what we do see is filtered by many factors, like the air, as well as black. Yes, I'm aware of black absorbing light, it was an implication that I didn't think was relevant to the argument.

  • @chinaboyd Well I don't want to say this is true, but like I said. A world with no green, blue, and so on would also be a world with no black. But I totally agree about the relevance, it was more a side thought.

"How" is of complete importance in my opinion. Your statement " 1 believes YOUR only colors are black, grey..." I am in question to exactly what the reasoning is behind this belief.

  • @JimmyPage97 They have never observed white in it's full extent, so they therefore assume that the lightest color they can see is equivalent to the concept of white.

  • @chinaboyd So " 1 " can understand the concept of "white" but has never experience the color in any way? And still they will believe the concept in its entirety?

But none the less, I am faster and faster wondering exactly how this relates to Yin and Yang, or a concept of balance.

  • @JimmyPage97 It relates to yin and yang because I'm saying balance is only through our perception.

  • @chinaboyd as aposed to what?

  • @chinaboyd maybe were just on two different pages here.

  • @JimmyPage97 It seems so. I should really work on explaining things >:/

  • @chinaboyd well you seemed to have an argument based on how much or how equal(like with the proton/electron thing). But I don't think that really matters. The proton and electron exist together, as polar opposites (with regards to their +/- charge), in complete harmony with each other. The electron and proton need each other. They each equally take part in the stabilization and balance of the element.

And it isn't until there is an imbalance that we find an unstable element...or an ion

  • @JimmyPage97 Which comes when you add a compound to water or any other polar liquid. But aside from the argument, we can all agree that Led Zeppelin and Grateful Dead are pretty freaking awesome when it comes to writing songs!

  • @chinaboyd oh for sure.

  • @JimmyPage97 I would disagree. I believe yin and yang are only assumptions of what is the opposite based on comparative reasoning. you could, in a world, have 20% yin and 80% yang, but in our minds, be habituated to 30% yang, so then yin and yang are comparatively neutral, but in that uncomparative reality isn't neutral.

A good example is subatomic particles. a proton's (+) mass is about 1833 times an electron's (-) mass. but they're opposite. So are they exact or comparative opposites?

  • @mcdstuff mind would be blown :0

  • @mcdstuff with a fork

  • Absolutely fabulous version by the Grateful Dead! after 40 years, I still love their music! Now going to a concert at Hampton Coliseum for Furthur ... 2011 happy new year!

  • This. Is the Grateful Dead. It. Is what they were all about. Beautiful.

  • @ftsmoo I. Agree with this. Statement. Unnecessary punctuation is. Awesome.

  • @zoznack , to each his own. but thanks for the negative comment instead of just serching youtube for something YOU like!! You're the best....the best :)

  • @slipyourhips You're welcome!

  • idont want it to end....

  • This is THE best Dark Star ever IMHO. Easy to "zone out" to. :)

  • Wish i could have been at that festival, Sunshine Daydream

  • after delib not hearing this for 10 years it is still magical yet now i can pick out the many bum shambolic notes yet the essence is still one groovy spherical manyness x.

  • Classic GD!

  • when I first started getting into the Dead, I didnt like the long jams like Dark Star and The Other One, but now they are my favorite part of thier shows. At first I liked the country tinged songs like Loser , Tenn. Jed, Browneyed Women, and I still like those songs, but getting lost in these long jams are wonderful. The great thing about the Dead is all the different phases and changes in sound they had through the years. You can always discover new favorites

  • @grifftrain true

  • discord...

  • @Eidelmania miles davis ' call it anything' lol

  • Does anyone have any update on this movie and if it will ever be released? I keep trying to google search info on it but I come up with nothing

  • @TheJoeGrosso Added David Limieux's response (2005) when asked about its status to the video description. That's the most recent bit I've heard about it

  • @johnny576375 Thanks, yea I've read that too but was hoping there was a more recent update... i mean that was 5 years ago... (sigh) I would love to see it in its entirety.

  • Is this the 1959 startocaster given to David Hildago,

or is this a 1956 strat?

  • @TheJoeGrosso

you gotta know someone with it, and make a copy. it's not something for sale. put out a craigslist ad and make a new friend #)

  • @TheJoeGrosso

Yesterday evening I was wondering in a music store and I found this dvd or ,at least, what the cover says it should be Sunshine Daydream.

I couldn't believe... because I live in a small village in the north of Italy and nowadays it's so difficult to find such rare movies.

Obviously I picked it up immediately ;)

I'll take a look at the cover and let you know the details if you want to. I was in a hurry and I simply put it in my car...

  • @footale Oh that's awesome. I hope it is the full movie. I actually found it online after a LOT of searching and downloaded it. If the movie doesn't work out for you send me a message and I can direct you to where I downloaded it.

  • @TheJoeGrosso oh yeah, it's the full movie (8 tracks: - Intro / Playing in the Band - Promised Land - China Cat Sunflower - I Know You Rider - Jack Straw - Dark Star - El Paso - Greatest Story Ever Told ), ;) it must be a German bootleg release, the quality is not the typical restored, it's more like the original video (looks similar to a super 8 vid) and it's simply fantastic! It's from "Show Time" Thanks for sharing some info!

  • @TheJoeGrosso .. well i finally found whole movie using torrent search, truly awsome movie... found mine on Demonoid

  • jerry rocked that hairy head like no other human ever alive

  • R.I.P. Jerry Garcia

  • Thanx! :):):)

  • This is intense...wonderful...

  • This is beyond beautiful. It's next level time suspension. I love the lens flare with the two people moving in opposite directions, the balloon twirling, the intensity of Jerry's expression (4:08-4:28), the little boy running across the stage and Bob Weir's reaction, his beauty. Really, thanks so much for posting.

  • I think this is one of GD's best jams it could just go on and on

  • I'm dropping acid for the first time today, can't think of a better tune to play in the background

  • @sugarbush420 So how was your trip????

  • @jwindyboy Oh I really hope I did not come off unappreciative. I really am. I do enjoy them, for sure. I was just a little disappointed, you know. They keep on truckin, and that always makes me smile :)

  • Oh i thought this was AT Sunshine Daydream (West Virginia)...in that case, nevermind my last post :)

  • Primal Dead for sure.

  • i cant believe my band has played there this year...and were goin back in sep.! should definitely tease some Dark Star

  • Man I miss going to Dead shows and miss Garcia..This is where I wish I could time travel too

  • Just over a year before i came into the World.

    Pure Beauty.

    Bless.xx

  • i could have sworn i saw a naked litttle person run across the stage .. not a kid , a m**get. was that just me?

  • Sun setting, Dark star..:amazing footage and music. Yearning for a nice time gone.

  • This is MAGICAL

  • dude whenever i hear this song , i think of churros man

like the things at disney world and cinebon!

  • Beautiful! Thankyou for this.

  • it's too bad furthur can't do this :( i mean they're beautiful but it's not the dead of course. has anyone else seen furthur too?

  • @WharfRat44 Saw the two Radio City shows and it was a blast. Talking to people who were there they all agreed it was the best band since Jerry died. The second night scarlet>fire was pretty good.

  • @johnny576375 Yeah, it's definitely the best band since he past, I agree with you there. I saw all good and the vibes show. awesome. dso blew me away too, as always :D

  • @johnny576375 Saw the two philly furthur shows. Great time. The morning dew on the second night was sooooo goooood.

  • @johnny576375 I concur. I have seen TOO, The Dead, Ratdog and most incarnations of Phil and Friends (circa 2002-2004 my favorite) and I just think this group of musicians play the sound I long to hear.

Also @WharfRat44 to be fair GD couldn't/wouldn't do "this" once the 80's hit. The sound had morphed quite a bit by then. They really are a great study though. One question I do have, how are the younguns of today gettting exposed to GD music?

  • @johnny576375 I saw them at the Vibes this year.. I wanted to go to the Radio City shows so bad but just lost my job and couldn't afford it. It's crazy to think that Further tickets for Radio city were around $400 + but I can pay $150 for 4 days of the vibes which includes Further and like 60 other bands...

Either way I would have spent it and gone if I could have afforded it... sigh... I'll just have to go see Dark Star Orchestra in Dec and pretend it's the same, haha

  • @WharfRat44 I saw them the first night at the Nokia in NY, Bobby kind of had an off night but it was a pretty solid show when it comes down to it....

  • @1NickDelle1 oh sweet!! I heard nokia was awesome though!!! I saw all good and the vibes shows. pretty awesome stuff. stay lovely. byee! :D

  • @WharfRat44 I was at gathering of the vibes and call me a jerk but I actually preferred dark star orchestra. Yes, I am going to hell, but it just aint the same for me without mr garcia. Not saying Furthur wasn't awesome, I just felt like it wasn't as amazing as expected. Weir is still the man of course.

  • @dopebozoish No. I absolutely agree with you. DSO kicked it, and furthur wasn't impressive at all. I was extrememly bummed out. Even at all good, they didn't blow me away like I expected. So, I don't think that's a jerk move. haha take care.

  • @WharfRat44 saw them in ottawa july 7 i think, sick show, but then i saw DSO play this with Jeff and it was out of tthis universe!

  • @stanleyk20 Yeah dude! Jeff is the best thing to happen to dso, i totally agree with you. yeah i think i'll have to see a single furthur show to give them credit.

  • @WharfRat44 Furthur comes pretty close. There wont be another jerry but there is a john

  • Comment removed

  • @WharfRat44 Mann Center July! I was there for the first night, second set jamfest with Playin', Althea, China>Rider, Eyes, Days Between > Help/Slip > Franklins! Not to mention a rippin Jack Straw. My 7th Post Jerry show, arguably the best!

  • @WharfRat44 Furthur is the business; I saw the 2 Cuthbert Amphitheater shows in Eugene, OR and the Marymoor show in Redmond, WA. They sound great. Full of vitality. IF they come near you, I highly recommend going to see them.

  • @xpansion2012 Hey, yep I've seen them. I need to see a show though, I've only seen them at festivals. Awesome you enjoyed it :)

  • @WharfRat44 The News Years run (online presale started today) looks very promising if you can find your way to SF!

  • Seen them 7-8 times now. You're right they can't do this exactly, but they are capable of putting on really energetic, inspiring shows. I just go to the shows not expecting to here a duplication of GD and I manage to leave happy every time.

  • @Pucknut3ond That's a really positive way to look at it. I admire what you said. Hitting up any shows over new years? they really do have energy and a great vibe!

  • @WharfRat44 , Yeah! You're so right! I've seen furthur several times and they haven't got that Garcia vibe it seems. To me they've dummied up just when I thought they might be breaking new ground, or heading in a new and exciting direction! But hey, I've seen the Dead so many times! I'm grateful the surviving members are still out there mixing it! Peace

  • @WharfRat44 FUTHUR DID THIS LAST NIGHT

  • Nothing cant be better then "Dark Star" in "Sunshine DayDream".

  • Love Dark Star!!!!!!!!!!!!
