  • Love this song, love the album, even more today than I did 30 years ago. (has it really been that long?)

  • When this album came out I wondered how Thomas Dolby got his music through record company execs. Because at the time this music was far more original than that generally distributed,

  • Yes, THANK YOU!! Brilliant . . . .

  • Thank you for posting!! Also for all the information :)

  • Brilliant song.

Little did I know, with Asperger's, that it was gonna be the theme tune of my life!

    I couldn't ask for a better theme tune! ^_^

  • It is a great track!

  • So rich metaphorically. The rain pours down, washes us clean, makes us pure. This song has accompanied me through some of the most difficult transitions of my life. Each time, its meaning is deeper and more intense.

  • Fantastic! Kraftwerk meets Benjamin Britten with something else besides. There's nothing like getting your face wet after years of dryness and burial, it's what I'm doing at present.

I know Shingle Street well; its wide-open spaces and rather mysterious atmosphere have inspired many artists and musicians.

  • I grew up and was right on top of EVERYTHING Thomas Dolby released. I waited in the rain for the record shop to open when Flat earth came out. I still have every CD he made. A true genius and a man way ahead of his time.

  • fantastic song wonder how I missed this gem.............

  • @celticraider1 You didn't.

  • If they don't fix it, something will.

  • reminds me of better times

  • Always loved the tone and space of this song, like John Foxx with his song 'Endlessly' ... it's form and substance is almost ethereal - it is simple yet there is something quintessentially evocative of the proud people we were ... I love the end of this song

'When I was small, I was in love, in love with .. everything, thing, thing, thing, Ooo-Ooo-Ooo now there's only you, and now there's only you Oh-Oh-Oh, Oh-oh, Oh-Oh. Swift, Byron, Donne, words worth as much as any Wordsworth. Brilliant

  • Thanks for posting this. Takes me back :)

  • Very unique song!

  • love this song so much! I had it on vinyl but have never seen it on CD :-(

  • Great!

  • OMG thanks for posting!!
