its funny that tom hanks is known as the "modern Jimmy Stewart" because his character in You've Got Mail was actually the modern version of Stewart's character in The Shop Around the Corner

I think theyre both on the same level of stardom during their times. Achieved around the same, great talents we'll see what roles Hanks gets as he ages. Though he still has some mid-life roles to take on like Larry Crowne. Hanks is the quintessential everyman, and so was stewart. Then again hanks had the talent to play viktor chavalsky and that souther prof in Ladykillers. and mike sullivan's cold blooded self

Tom Hanks is exceptional but even he will never reach the status of Jimmy Stewart. There are just some that are totally unique
