@kbm515 Rayner was created just after the "death" of Hal Jordan in the DC storyline. John Stewart was originally from the 1970's. In all, there are five Green Lanterns from Earth. Alan Scott, Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart and Kyle Rayner. Kyle was used in this episode because he was the current one being used in the comics.

@superanimeniac It makes sense because if it didn't then the entire premise of the episode falls apart. In fact, this reminds me of the old Superfriends where Sinestro had a yellow ring, and the green ring didn't work against anything that was yellow. Sinestro still wanted that ring even though it was demonstrably weaker than his own. (There was also no reason why GL should ever be able to beat or even fight Sinestro, but whatever).

Really the only things out of place is that Kyle is drawn like Hal, he lives in Metropolis, and here it was Abin Sur who sent his ring not Ganthet. Also technically Kyle wouldn't have met Sinestro (so soon anyway) since Paralax killed him. Kyle still had the ring seek him out, had no vulnerability to yellow, was an artist, female gaurdians, and was a badass Lantern.

This whole Green Lantern crossover is a little sickening. Mixing Kyle and Hal's stories. I hope no little kids get confused.

There are a few people saying, "People with power rings couldn't touch Superman." Actually there is a lot of comic book evidence that some power ring wielders are on Superman's level. Some could probably beat him. In comics Lanterns have on a few occassions made constructs with the same molecular make-up as kryptonite. DC will never give us a real battlle though.
