everyone please check out the video of my Oil painting. It took me 5 months to finish and its 4 feet by 6 feet. let me know what you think of the piece. the video is called - Monumental Oil painting- from start to finish
Thanks for your kind words of encouragement. I have a few ideas, now it's just a matter of making myself get to work! Inertia is a powerful force here in the midwestern U.S.!! :P
Cool. Looks like fun. I live in Sacramento, California. Every Labor day weekend we have a three day event called "Chalk It Up" where the sidewalk squares are decorated by artists using chalk while local bands play in the interior of the park. Totally fun. This reminds me of that. (Except the music is better at yours!)
Very nice video... When I see the beautiful art that these people create with chalk on the pavement I always think, "My gosh! Couldn't you put that on something that could be saved in a safe place? It's going to get rained on or stepped on..."
It rained the day after I shot this. Had I been a more organized person, I'd have taken pictures of the work as it melted away. That would have made this a complete story. Or a different one, anyway.
great event to video! where is this located? we used to go to one every year in Pasadena, CA and its awsome when people come together in the streets like this.
awsome portraits and music! thanks for the great credits too.
This was in Jefferson City, Missouri. A group here does a jazz festival every year. Usually it is held on the grounds of the state capital. This year they did it at a local park, with lots of shade trees :), and invited people to do chalk art. There were quite a few very talented people there, but these two were my favorites. The jazz band was comprised of college students, and altho you might not be able to tell from this bit of tape, they were very, very good.
These are awesomely beautiful works of art! So kewl that you got a permanent record of 'em... and thanks for the credits at the end. I wish you had talked a bit - about which was your favorite or what you were feeling. GREAT VID !
baby steps, Elaina. I've been quiet for 20 years. It's going to take some time to find my voice.
The chalk artists were amazing to watch. I could not decide which of the two I liked better, so I put them both in the video. The Miles Davis was so vibrant and colorful, but the Van Eyck just looked perfect, like it wasn't sidewalk chalk at all.
Yeah, the artist, Essex Garner, was pretty amazing to watch. He didn't even know I was taping him until afterward, when I talked to him about it. He was so focused.
