  • This version is waaay better than the Fair Warning album's!

Their early eighties' live shows were awesome!!!!!

  • God Dang it know i have to look up what robbie07 said.

  • No one could touch this band back in the day& if Ed gets his act together they will be untouchable again, not even chickenfoot can touch them!

  • ...and this would be dlr on coke.

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S 30 YEARS THIS MONTH THAT I SAW THEM AT MSG FOR THE 1ST TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @robbieo07 you are a poorly educated individual, i suggest you come out of the closet & get a life Vh rule .. Oh by the way i done your mum up the ass what a whore

  • what was the guitar before the red and white?

  • @buckettrucks the black and white fender

  • @buckettrucks the same guitar but sprayed black and white and it had a black pickguard

  • I sure am glad Im 42. I got to see it all!!!

  • @22reTOYOTA

You Sir, are one lucky bastard!

  • @robbieo07 ur butt is gay

  • @robbieo07 tell that to the thousands of girls he has fucked!

  • @robbieo07 so whats yr point?????? is yr gaydar working right? have u come out the closet yet, its cool it doesnt matter

  • So what if hes gay? Its the music that matters.

  • they sure hadda....hear about it later.

  • @robbieo07 If he does have gay tendencies then at the very least he has slept with many WOMEN over the years. If anything he has always portrayed himself as a womanizer in the VH videos.

  • @robbieo07 it takes one to know one.... Your just jealous dude... Hes had more hot woman than a toilet seat at Victorias Secret.. And.. hes smart enough not to get married and get himself into messy divorces

  • best video on youtube

  • @robbieo07 dont be hating cause you get none

  • @robbieo07 try telling that to a girl i used to know who came out of his hotel room smelling like cocoa butter.

  • @robbieo07 David lee Roth banged more chicks in a year then you could in 3 life times

  • @robbieo07 hey, respect Van Halen. they never did anything wrong to you.

  • i am flappo , mod at the official roth army and anyone who dares fucking neg rep this video will get pre banned and is a faggot

  • David Lee Roth: Robert Plant's stage presence with Tom Jones' voice. Finest front-man EVER!!!

  • you are gay, king acosta.

  • My fav VH album - great guitars. I kick myself in the ass, I had a chance to see this show and I got in trouble and my parents wouldn't let me go. I did see them in 1982 though and they played some off Fair Warning. Unfortunately I thought Diver Down was their worst album, or half cover album

  • Dave actually sounds great live here.

  • I was there in the Front Row in the OAKTOWN ARENA..What a FUCKING NIGHT!!! This was when America was truly Great and A Kick-Ass Nation. Now we have such shit music..Rap and Hip-Hop that is destroying the culture of America. Long Live VH!!!!!!

  • @vangelis721 --- Greatest time in rock history.......the mighty VH rocking Oakland.......chicks throwing their panties onstage......Eddie rippin' it up.......Dave doing flying scissor kicks.......smell of weed hanging thick in the air.......good times

  • Van Halen Brother!!

  • wow great!and dave got the lines right!

  • your 100 % right nobs american but the problem was he knew it too .

  • David Lee Roth in his prime! The ultimate frontman...nobody could touch him..especially screechy little bitches like Vince Neil and Bret Michaels.

  • where's ed's flanger, bitch?!

  • what a greaaaaaaat concert--this memory keeps me going at 44!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! david lee roth was known for his well equiped body...ooohh lala.....but together they were terrific!!!!

  • This song poked fun of Pete Townsend's hearing loss. Dave ever the comedian.

  • WOW!!!!!

That's quite the nice package DLR!!!!!

  • @bebes35 --- How cum chicks are always looking at Dave's package??

  • A Noel Monk production

  • This is a very good contender for my favourite VH song.

  • Rock. Love it.

  • tora tora tora!

  • the person who disliked this is probably a nickelback fan.

  • A smokin' version of an often overlooked track. For a band that was having internal problems during this time, you can't really tell from the onstage action. The best lineup for sure!

  • I miss the days when the Mighty Van Halen were still considered a "dangerous band".......the kind that teenagers were not allowed to see in concert because their parents were afraid of all the hedonism and debauchery involved -- and they were right! Lots of pot-smoking and hot-lookin' pussy at VH concerts in those days.

  • @Hunkola Van Halen invited girls to the party. Look at footage of other metal bands and see only teenage boys in the crowd.

  • This song always illicits a little sadness in me- only because it was the last song they played when I saw them on this tour. AMAZING show.. one of the best ever. No one could touch them back then.

  • Hey Eddie, where's Waldo? Lol. Bad-ass. I remember seeing this live; it was a bitch to get my parents to let me go to this concert.

  • I was there!!! One of the best VH shows I have ever seen. They were at there prime. I wish they had the whole show on video.

  • sammy who?

  • saw vh twice in atlanta. two of my fav concerts!!!

  • doesnt get much better than this shit right here.drink you're jack daniels boys.

  • i saw vh in 82 and 84 awsome

  • @jkt70 You lucky bastard

  • i saw vh in 82 and 84 awsome

  • i hope instead ofdying and going to heaven, i end up at a Van Halen concert in 81 or 82 instead..cuz that is better than heaven in my book.

  • Eddie looks like a rockin' Oompa Loompa.

  • If you pause it, she looks pretty baked too!

  • The girl in the audience at 0:51 is gorgeous!!!! I wonder if she ever knew she was in this video on you tube? She must be atleast 45 years old by know!!!! VanHalen was at the top of there game here.. Dave actually sounds great live in this video!!!! VH forever!!!! God Bless!!!!

  • @nehocyrrah i bet dave boned her too

  • I was not at this concert. I was across the street at an arcade playing Donkey Kong. Then I went to the movie theatre to watch "Escape from New York". As I walked out I heard people on the street talking about the cabbage patch craze.

  • This is HARD rock. Metallica and Megadeth are examples of METAL. Metal has no R&B influence where Hard Rock does. This is right from an interview with DLR himself.

  • @nyshortline....i guess as the king of monday morning jack off u rock....in 1981 VAN HALEN was the band.

  • if you didn't live thru this awesome period of rock music, you don't get it.

    they were actually musically talented---

  • @marshallplexi3 Actually I totally get it. But my father made sure to show me what real talent was.

  • where's waldo? playin guitar!

  • I saw them in Ft. Lauderdale in '79, '81, and '84. Oops, showing my age, here. Never forget those shows.

  • AMEN! saw a few myself. the energy was unrivaled. best ever.

  • I can play this song perfectly, if I dedicated this song to a girl who has never heard this kind of stuff what would she think?

  • depending on her genre of music, what she finds interesting, and if yr on spot then its a 75% chance she will dig it. but like all women, they all dig guys who play guitar. i say go for it man haha

  • This is true...ROCK ON

  • @Gary2112 it works everytime man honestly in a whole retro spec ive gotten a bitchin life for what i put in you tell a girl you play guitar or are in a band and you got it in the bag

  • @Gary2112 i play guitar myself...i turn 16 in another month and im still single lol i suck

  • @Gary2112 Great song... but seriously... break out the mullet and broken down Camaro.

  • @Gary2112 LOL I played a couple of van halen licks once on stage, chicks loved it!! even if my pants split down the side so you could see my inner leg! haha

  • thats an odd question.. Why not do it and find out?

  • @KingAcosta28

she would think : FUCK YOU :) LONG LIVE THE 80s HEAVY

  • @KingAcosta28 Well, if she read this kind of stuff, she would think you are conceited.

  • @KingAcosta28 dude if you can play it perfectly that's awesome man! go for it i'd say, a real women would totally dig on this song and introducing her to this shit would blow her fuckin mind, go get her bro!

  • @The2secondpepod thanks dude

  • @KingAcosta28 you gotta sing it too

thats wat chicks are really into man

  • i saw that drum set at guitar center :D

  • Sex , Drugs and Heavy Metal. This song kickazz live !

  • This is BIG ROCK not Heavy Metal!

  • @lidesnowi

    Heavy Metal? Of course not.

    This is Heavenly Metal! :)

  • @Smartskaft2 According to DLR himself this is Hard Rock. Metal "has no R&B influence. Metallica and Megadeth are Heavy Metal."

  • awesome

  • Questions remain....#1 was the the Blizzerd of Ozzz

    just Van Halenized Black Sabbath

We will never the Truth of the 80s

What theyr afraid to tell you is that when Jimi Hendrix was in the amblance on his way to ER he woke from

the coma and grabbed the EMT by his collar then said

Metal is the future!!!! then wacked him across the head

with a piece of broken gutair then slipped back into the coma never to speak again....... RIP Jimi.......

  • The greatest rock band in history, bar none! Better even than Zep!

  • mcquestion

    Thanks for the laugh!

  • You're welcome. Hey, the truth is funny sometimes.

  • mcquestion

Correct, it is. However, as the guy who believes virtuoso guitarist and BAND are synonymous, you're clearly unaccustomed with the truth.

  • I decry your truth handling abilities!

  • mcquestion

Well, like you said...The truth is funny sometimes. But other times it aint.

  • Whatever, bub. You're clearly taking this more seriously than I.

  • mcquestion

Maybe you should shave instead of waxing.

  • I'll give that all the thought that it's warranted...

  • Ed was asked his fav music selections, and all the amazing intros he picked, just like I would, and I do mean that includes this intro song, the whole affair kicks ass

  • Iv'e been tried and convicted ....It's winner take all !!!!!!...., words to live by ... thanks for getting me through these mean streets. Diamond Dave Forever. Happy Birthday ! 10-10-09 .......

  • This song has tremendous lyrics as well as great music...always one of my favorites....Fair Warning maybe their best disc that Van Halen released...VH Rocks

  • Fair Warning IS their best album dude, don't let anyone tell ya otherwise. Michael fuckin Anthony RAWKS! Great harmonies too, Mike and Eddie.

  • that was their least selling album too but i think it went double platinum or something

  • Ed...then everyone else. There are super talented technically proficient animals out there but nobody will ever match Ed's feeling and natural groove. This shit will never get old. His lead in this one is stellar.

  • That is the best summation of Van Halen. Ed is the king on so many levels it's not even fair.

  • Absaeffnlutely bendito.......

  • @bendito103 word!!

  • @bendito103 he ruined rock guitar playing

  • @taypax How?

  • @bendito103 everybody just tried to play fast and do tricks...and guys who didn't were thought of as bad

  • @taypax ...I agree. After the first album hit in 78 the rock/metal scene was bombarded with non-stop Ed clones who were more often then not hyper-lame and caricatures of what VH was laying down...The whole glam metal shred era is a punchline but Ed and his songwriting still holds up. Van Halen is and never was glam despite Roth's circus antics and the theatrics...The music stands on its own without the image ie. spandex, hairspray, make-up etc...I could go on and on defending Ed's substance

  • VH peak live performance... one of many... but definitely peak

  • Very underrated song, my fav from VH along with dreams with Hagar

  • This Is an example of Real Musicians coming From nothing, and Ending up with everything, Unlike people now adays who get there gigs based on their looks and what people want, these guys and there predecesors had to impress night after night just hoping to get noticed, there was no such thing as contests or shows that got you careers, Van Halen started in bars in california and ended up selling out world wide, This is why this is the greatest band... Period!!!

  • Love the way alex's snar sounds!

  • This is what VH are all about, 0:42 - 0:47 that's the sound that made me fall in love with Ed's playing....PLEASE, if there is anymore useable footage besides the three songs from Oakland '81 that we've already seen...can you release it? PLEASE!!..?

  • Ed has confessed he has this entire concert on film........but he's being a dick and not releasing it on DVD.

  • This is unreal shit, I could die happy at this concert.

  • fuckin right

  • this is just magic

  • I saw this show three straight nights over fourth of july weekend at cobo arena in detroit. this brings back alot of memories. they were awesome!! I saw them again in 82 three straight nights, but I'd have to say this is when they were at their best.

  • talk about luck - We never got to see them

with this line up in australia, but i saw

    roth solo in 88,,,AWSOME.

  • i saw that show in 88 as well. and you're right, it was awesome. it was at cobo arena in detroit, i was like five rows from the stage. Steve Vai on guitar and I believe Billy Shehan on bass. Can't remember who was on drums.

  • sammy hagar had a good song off the sound track from heavy metal. but thats it!

  • Hunkola, i think you have a problem.

Dave was better but sammy rocked too

    get a life

  • I'd love to see that FAT FAGGOT Hagar pull off a show this fuckin' cool........LOL !!

Sammy Hagar = lame, curly-headed fuckface

David Lee Roth = ROCK GOD, cocksman of gorgeous women

  • Hey Hunkola!

Although I favor all VH eras, your posting cracked me the fuck up!

When I read your descriptions of Sam & Dave I couldn't hit the floor fast enough. Too funny!

  • Thanks, bro........I've had my fill of all the Hagar cocksuckers on YouTube.......my life's mission is to squash them like the bugs they are.........true Van Halen glory is about Eddie slammin' away on his axe while Diamond Dave launches insane leaps off the drum riser and fucking hot ladies by the dozen after the show.........that's the only Van Halen that ever mattered to anyone !!!

  • Yes indeed hunkola....tho I only caught the Diver Down & 1984 tours, dems were some awesome times. Haven't seen a show like that since. Sad!

It wasn't a "concert'' with Dave, it was a party. My bud lived in Albuquerque in '81 and said he NEVER saw so much tail at a show like he saw at Tingley Stadium when VH came through town with their "FAIR WARNING TUNA TACO ROCK AND ROLL SEXTRAVAGANZA"

  • At least you were lucky enough to see some legendary Dave-era shows........I was only 14 when "1984" came out so I missed those legendary concerts.........but I did see the Roth-VH reunion tour in 2008 and it was spectacular as you would expect.........I just missed seeing Dave launching 10 ft. off the drum platform and the spinning helicopter kicks.........but Dave is 55 yrs. old so it's hard to pull off those acrobatics anymore........hee hee........but the Pasadena boys still know to slay !!!

  • Hagar cocksuckers---hahaha

  • hahahahaha curly headed fuckface

  • hunkolah wt up nigga u know wats up! fuck sammy !

  • @Hunkola Roth can't sing for shit

  • Eddie's energy and control on the solo from 2:40-3:30 is sick. A true Mozart of his day.

  • "Lets spend the night together now i need you more than ever" and in the morning ... "I dont wanta hear about later.." I see this song is the sequel. Good call, roky!

  • whoever said the fishbone comment i never even heard of that band they must not have even been close to what theses guys have done ....

  • I miss Mikie

  • doctor rockso sounds awesome here

  • is one of the best sons of van halen. es de mis preferidas.

  • これこれ!

    昔、大阪梅田の『キューピット』でよく観たよ!

  • @mkikuya2000 eglish muthafucka

  • I love the 3 clips from this show. I wish they'd go back and put the whole show out as a live cd/dvd thang.

  • Hey anyone else's being reminded of Let's Spend the night together (The Rolling Stones) in the chorus? A little bit huh? lol

  • The heirs to the Led Zeppelin throne... and they did their way

  • Eddie is still better than anyone today

  • I could watch van Halen clips ...over and over...they are the greatest.

  • GOTTA love Dave gyrating his hips & showing you his religion in those tight pants!

  • will anyone tell me how 2 burn a audio cd of these live videos?

  • you can hear it ! feel it !see it ! and we lived it!this what van halen is all about over flowing with power and feeling no one can compare to this!true rock icons the the beatles on roids!

  • Unreal. This is Van Halen at their most Van Halenness. Dave is in love with the life(and himself). LOL Eddie is drunk, pissed and overflowing with virtuosity.Mike is happy to be there, and Alex is holding it all down for his brother. At this stage...NO ONE could touch Van Halen. No One.

  • Bands would look so dorky if they performed like

    this today.

  • Dorky? No way man. This is what i call a live performance. None of this emo mosh pitting bull shit. No other band today can give a great live performance like Van Halen at their prime.

  • Nobody has the spirit, energy, balls or humour to perform like Van Halen nowadays, not to mention lacking VH's talent as musicians and songwriters. I would love to see a band with even half the talent of these guys come along and blow people away but I cant see it happening when everyone is worried about how they are percieved and their image rather than just rocking out and having fun with it.

  • I agree with the talent that VH has but I would say that Fishbone in their day would have destroyed VH in a live performance. Now Eddie is argueably the greatest guitarist of that area but he was the talent in VH. Alex and Michael are a great rhythm section but they can't hold anything close to what Norwood Fisher and Phillip Fisher gave to us in Fishbone. The raw energy that the 80's and early 90's Fishbone that toured could easily blown anyone off the stage.

  • All due respect to Fishbone, but you are talking about two totally different bands, and two totally different styles of music. As far as stadium hard rock, Van Halen are on a level of their own. For my money, in regards to my personal tastes, and the mix of spirit, energy, musicianship and songwriting that I love, Van Halen in their prime are untouchable. But if you are going to compare them to bands of another style, you could mention everyone from Little Richard to The Ramones.

  • Van Halen 4 Ever Man!! This is mah favorite song. And it even rocks more Live!! Back in the good ol days when they ruled man!! Diamond Dave!! There will be no substitutes man None!! Rock This Shit!!!

  • you got that right !! pay my bills!!

  • Why is Van Halen dressed like Waldo?

  • LMFAO!

  • You mean, why is Waldo dressed like Eddie.

  • agreed

  • all of them together w/ roth was magic.

  • Rock Gods

even for however short a time.

    EVERYONE love Van Halen

  • Brings back good memories, long hair,

girls, and a six pack in summer.........long time fan.

  • i saw them for the fair warning tour at madison square garden when i was 14 or 15 in NYC and i will NEVER forget it.

  • Van Halen ALWAYS AND FOREVER will Rock.

  • For Hunkola:

Too bad two of them aren't even American, you douche, they're Dutch.

  • lol 0:21 that gives me serious goosebumps. just think if that was you on that stage :P haha
