I personally preferred the original US opening. Yes, it was goofy and kind of stupid, but so is One Piece, and at least it was catchy and fun to listen to. Also, the lyrics made sense in the context of the show. It was reminiscent of the work that Richard Stone did for the Animaniacs, Freakazoid, Pinkie and the Brain, and other such songs. Again, yes, goofy theme song, but at least it was fun.
