No the as90 is not in Afghanistan there is no need for it we use the 105mm light gun instead because it's LIGHT and can be under slung by a chinook and put on hilltops and we use the guided multiple launch rocket system for range nicknamed the 70km sniper
the AS90 has bean proven in iraqi and official figures say that it is less likely to brake down than the French type and it is on a par with the American in regards to range and reliability
and the AS90 is used in afganstan but ueshley mentoring afghans in its use because that have agreed to buy 40 of ten from BEA systems
No its not, It was used in the iraq war but not afghan. The logistics and money is to much. Besides we have the canadians and american who have a 155mm in afghan so theirs no need. The l118 105mm light gun does the job and does a good job at that for the brits.
@gavsky23 ..Chill out its an indirect fire weapon..and it was a fun shoot ...if youve ever been in the forces youd know its great to just have a blast...infact the shot a 6mins was bloody good for a big artillery pice..
Man i would be soo funny if a shell blew those deer, or whatever they are, to peices. I saw it happen in a field full of sheep on a firepower demonstration. Boy did those sheep, or what was left of them, fly!
You wait until he gets stuck on wet grass in that oversized piece of American crap...then you pull him to safety in your Landy....i know what i would rather have....And a Army Land Rover 90 WOULD have power assist steering ......but not full hydraulic power steering....if the hydraulic lines get severed you're fucked.....
@britrb32 ...Well i bow to your superior knowledge .......you were driving the bloody thing after all , so you should know.....but don't knock the Lanny old mate.....it ,and the guys that build it don't deserve it......cheers

This old monster didnt have any power steering at all mate. Just a bog standard engine, 2 seats, and the obligatory strange smell!!
Brian :)
P.S. I did have to pull the GMC's out of the mud a few times in that 90. Including one that had smashed its power steering box!

Why's that guy got "420" written on the back of his high-vis jacket? I'm sure there's an army explanation rather than "he's a stoner" lol
