My opinion is: look up North, your Canadian Neighbours. We have free healthcare and it works just fine. I agree with you,. On the news, there are people that will give you a strong opinion about something as serious as healthcare even though they have no earthly idea what they're talking about.
we have a similar thing trying to be passed in Australia, but our heathcare system has been leaps and bounds over the American system for years...no offence
the vehement angry of the health care non-debate has been very upsetting.
i think more people who are opposed should actually go to one of the health care bill calculators that are online showing you what the impact will be to you.
what i think is most interesting about the people who are against the bill is that not one of them , fro what i can tell, has ever been in a situation where they couldn't have insurance. it seems there is a lack of compassion. *sigh*
But! And you know what? I want this! I am a terminal illness, and how in the world can I be expected to pay two million bucks on a surgery? I'm so locked into what I am in and cannot go out there to go to school, get a job... why? I can't because of fear of losing my insurance.
You know, I just made a number of posts on the topic of the Health Care bill yesterday, and almost updated my Twitter with a bit of what I had to say, too.
Anyway, I agree with you one hundred percent. Some political topics don't phase me nearly as much, but this one REALLY does... and for the very reason you mentioned! People who can afford to take extra cash out of their pockets to help those of us who actually NEED it. The anger those people project is just crazy.
It really is. And I can see the points that people are disagreeing with, I get that... but what I don't get is the need to cause such a huge uprising about it. These are people who probably don't like Obama in the first place, so getting changes made to ONE bill isn't going to make their next 4-8 years any better.
@pimpincheerio I accidentally hit "remove" instead of "reply" on your last comment - sorry!
Unfortunately, sometimes things aren't as cut and dry as they would seem. For example, because of my previous health issues it is very expensive for me to get health insurance - not something I can sacrifice something else for because the money just isn't there.
I'm not saying that the "pro" side isn't violent too, but that ANYONE resorting to violence needs to rethink their priorities.
