  • Holy dime bag,he was rippin back then and will forever be one of the best metal guitarists EVER period.

  • Llevo como 6 años escuchando a Pantera y hasta ahora me doy cuenta que fueron Glam Metal alguna vez :S jejeje Pensaba que esta era otra bada de Glam pero ya me di cuenta que si son ellos !!! jeje

  • I have this album. I would go see them at the Back Room in Austin. They wouldn't even list their shows under the name Pantera to keep the crowds down.

  • @TheGuitargod: Yep, but Vinnie was not! ^^

  • Wow Dimebag was skinny as fuck back then

  • ANYONE WHO DON'T LIKE THIS IS A FUCKING CUNT

  • this is awesome on so many levels. Nice job dude

  • great video and song...

  • i love those old metallica / pantera photos

  • excellent collection of pictures you assembled -- thanks

  • That'd be cool if there was a picture of Dimebag and Cliff Burton together

  • 1:30 DIOS \m/ DIMEBAG DARREL

  • These pics are fkn CLASSIC!! LMAO!!!

  • Lars looks like Justin Beiber with long hair.

  • @1Daddoz1 ahhahaha!!

  • Killer pics! First I ever saw of those. Pantera sounded like a Judas priest/ Dio collision back then. The main riff in this song is sweet!

  • I love Dimebag, but after seeing this video, I can presume that Phil Anselmo saved Pantera!

  • @palaozs dude google their glam photos and you will see Phil had poofy hair too when he joined the band! Everyone has their past and every band has to start somewhere. Shit Phil even sang high on Cowboys so tell me how he saved the band.

  • 2:25 Pantera + Metalica = Pantallica

  • 2:25 Metallica LOL . BUT what is Lars doing at his pant there !?

  • @TheSkombijohn pulling out that huge cock of his lol

  • the pic @ 2:52, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Rex Brown, and i wanna say the guy with the fro is dimebag??

  • @mattbell420 for sure it is

and why is lars doing his pants up?

  • well i guess the pics aren't that rare anymore, huh?

  • @facer78 Indeed. My work here is done.

  • @MartyFriedmanRulez66 Your second sentence is the exact problem with metal fans -- actually with many "diehard" fans of various styles. "A true metal fan wouldn't diss any metal regardless of how it sounds"? Man, I feel really sorry for the guys who get so lost in the crowd and scene that they just "like" certain songs or bands because their peers do, and not because they ACTUALLY ENJOY the music.

  • @fugitive1201 A real Metal fan DOES diss metal. It's only with standards and prowess do you achieve greatness. All these shitty alternative bands have stained metal for years and turned metal into a sad joke.

In the 80's, metal was mostly renowned for being a great SHOW. You would go to see Iron Maiden or Metallica and have your mind BLOWN. Nobody who knows music would be blown away at a Korn show, because they're playing music which doesn't require any real craft or skill to produce...

  • @WolfgangVonPoserkila Yes, this is exactly what I am getting at... however, personally I'm not much of a Metallica fan.

  • @fugitive1201 If you're talkin bout the 80s stuff, you can dislike them and that's fine, personal taste. Fact of the matter is, you know it is very talented stuff.

I mean I hate Death Metal but some of that stuff is very talented. No nu metal is talented. It's shit I could do in my sleep...

  • already a guitar genious

  • 2:52 lars and james with dime and rex.

  • @SavatageBeast Korn licks balls!!!

  • @chreld Korn rules what the fuck is your problem? RIP Dime

  • Glam?? MY ASS!! pure quality Heavy Metal

  • that riff is godly!

  • @skaterobban Oh Noez!! The 90's Pantera fan is giving me heat about knowing nothing about metal!! What Shall I Do!!!!

  • @skaterobban Yeah because someone like you who thinks Phil Anselmo did NOT scream on the great southern trendkill is a great exhibit of an intelligent human being. Just go do some more skateboard tricks you spotty, skinny little faggot lol

  • sounds very judas priest like :)

  • 12 fucking fags, making me want to go Fucking hostile.

  • @SkullBeneath2 It's funny, I was well entrenched in the music scene from the mid-80'w to the early millenia and you are exactly right about bands that had hair metal pasts! It was really "UNCOOL" to be associated with cheese metal, it became an out and out embarrassment. DD was no exception, many current hard rocking musicians cut their teeth on Dokken, Rat, Motley Crue and even, yes, I dare say, early der leopard, lol! But, god knows during the 90's they would have rather die than admit it!

  • @fickifickmaster I concede that this particular song had a harder edge, but they were as a whole a hair metal band. Most hair bands had a token power balad and hard edged song in their repertoire...it was par for the course for that sub-genre. Maybe they were torn between their hard playing sensibilities and what was "popular" "mainstream" at the time?

  • @fickifickmaster CONT.. I was exactly one year younger than Dimebag and I chose bands like Suicidal Tendencies,TSOL,Bad Brains,Motorhead,Dead Kennedy's,X,The Lords of The New Church,The Cure,Judas Priest and young Metallica. As for the more mainstream metal scene, while I really liked Motley Crue's first 2 album's I was increasingly turned of by their style and if i was going to listen to 'hair metal" it was going to be Hanoi Rocks or something more Glam, straight out of the New York Dolls set

  • @fickifickmaster CONT... I don't know, I just fi by the direction they chose to take their music...nd it amusing how the Anselmo-Pantera fan set get so upset about the brothers past affiliation with the cheesier sub-genre that they were certainly well entrenched in during their youth. I suppose if we are going to re-assign Pantera's style song by song...well, this song is a bit harder, but it in no way changes what they were at the time, which was a HAIR METAL BAND

  • weird, this is closer to new wave of british heavy metal than glam metal. Seriously rockin'!

  • @fickifickmaster and Diamond Darrel is practically anorexic while his brother was always fat, haha

  • @antoinevlah I'm afraid you are wrong @antoinevlah early Pantera were very much a hair metal band. I am more than qualified to determine musical genre and sub-genre, are you?

  • @Swampwitch99 I don't want to jump into an argument I'm not part of but this is a bit more aggressive than most hair metal, which is mid tempo and full of Def Leppard style group chants... this sounds a bit more like Judas Priest at times. I'm sure their other songs had the party, glam, hair metal feel but I could imagine Priest and Maiden fans diggin' this no prob

  • these pics are from the ranch in munster tx.

  • 19-year-old Dimebag > 99% of current guitar players

  • @penumrocker25 Dime is the greatest

  • The claims of hair metal come from the over the top, whiny and generally melodic vocals, but that style of singing bleeds over into a lot of traditional heavy metal and early speed/power metal as well. It's got a touch of glam, and it's more present in some places than others. Overall it just sounds like straight up heavy metal. I'd rather jam it than most of their "groove metal" work.

  • IT WAS THE 80'S FOR FUCK SAKE ...ITS WHAT YA DO

  • @spacko338 alot of people dont realize everybody in the band was between 18 and 20 and it was prime mid 80s for the time, they were still youngsters trying to figure out what they wanted to do with music,. to say the least, this is still a killer song compared to alot of the music back then., its not van halen, ratt, or dio, but it was STILL badass for its time

  • @dakotaj still is

  • @dakotaj it's Judas Priest, but not quite.

  • MAYBE IT'S TIME PEOPLE REALIZE IT'S NOT WHAT YOU WEAR THAT MAKES A GREAT BAND... IT'S THE SOUND THAT MAKES A GREAT BAND.... DUH

  • fuck! this sounds like judas priest.. anyway R.I.P. Dime

  • Posers.

  • What guitars do James and Dime have at 3:39, respectfully?

  • @bag04u bleach was pretty dark if all you hear is what they play on the radio

  • Lars' fly is open at 2:52 LOL

  • glam<3

  • Es HEAVY METAL puro

  • no offense to pantera or anything, but i hear people say they were ashamed of what they did in the 80s because they were only doing what was popular at the time. then isnt that true with all they did? they started playing darker music in the 90s, when the popular music was darker....

  • @motleydrue666 Well there first groove metal album was in 1990, but was written in 1988 and 1989, so technically they turned dark just before :P

  • 2:55 "exact" looks like james hetfield, and lars ulrich from metallica. and then it looks like rex and darrell.

  • i prefer this to their later fake tough guy bullshit

  • @SkullBeneath I was wondering where those folks were lol...I've never heard any of this older stuff other than the Power Metal album split with Villain...It's funny cause if you go into a room and say Pantera theres a 95% chance that no one even knows this Pantera exists...It's like they tried to bury this stuff like an old turd or somethin' and I'll go ahead and say that I came up on the tough guy bullshit so I enjoy it but this old stuff isn't all bad theres some good stuff here feels classic

  • @cheznar

It's funny because there are some early 90s interviews where dimebag was asked about changing his 80s nickname from "Diamond Darrel" to "Dimebag Darrel" and he insisting that it was a missprint, that it was never meant to be "Diamond." The change in sound and attitude didn't bother me so much as the fact that they were working so hard to hide their past lol. made it kinda hard to swallow their 90s output when you know theyre so concerned with selling an image. & the 80s stuff is cool!

  • wow sounds like judas priest

  • I love the current Pantera, but I do miss the original lineup, especially from this release and Power Metal.

  • such a fucking killer main riff can' t belong to a glam metal band , pantera was a mix of euro metal and us hard rock due to the early singer songwritting style but frankly until cowboys from hell pantera said it all they had to say musically speaking !!!

  • accept ?

  • @bilotin

    LOL!

  • DIMEBAG MADE PANTERA WHAT THEY ARE <3 *RIP*

  • DIMEBAG MADE PANTERA WHAT THEY ARE <3 *RIP*

  • greatest guitarist is Mikael Akerfeldt!!!!!!

  • metallica sux

  • @LokiLasher u suck donkey cocks

  • @lleo11 haha

  • This Pantera sucks 1 000 000 cocks!

  • this is the pantera i saw back in the '80's at savvy's and joe's garage!!!! power metal!!!!

  • WTF 2:52 is MetallicA OMG lol

  • @GeorgiMetallicA haha it totally is..just cuz it says pantera in the background does not make it them lmao

  • @GeorgiMetallicA Holy crap Original- Original Lineup, too. James, Ron, Lars, and Dave.

  • What the hell is Lars holding in that pic at 2:52?!!!!!!!!!!!!?

  • @2.51 is that Lars and James from Metallica with Dimebag and Rex??

  • @RezaCHUNWOOKIEE Never mind, the next image from that one answered my question.

  • His fucking awesome guitar-playing even cuts through this shit.

I was ready to write-this off, and was already looking at the other video suggestions when I heard that crisp, perfect style through the terrible mixing, homo singing and overall crapness.

  • "Glam metal, heavy metal, hard rock"

  • i love pantera. and im really glad they picked up phil and went in a heavier direction. Power Metal was a kickass album

  • @megadethpwnsTallica

Also, what Megadeth/Pantera songs do you know?

I ask because Dime has had his fair share of outright shredfests! Speeds which I would think outperform Dave's any day?

  • @SeekerOfCheese Kirk mainly plays in the same key and along the same old boring pentatonic scales, with some wah slapped on to it. Dave solos, but he's mainly a rhythm guitar playe these days and twice that of Kirk, not to mention about 96% of Megadeth's music has been created/written by Dave. When they recorded R.I.P the songs had already been written Marty just needed solos. Of Course Marty is a far better guitar player than Dave. I don't get how Kirk could be better, it's impossible.

  • @megadethpwnsTallica first off, i am a 'real' guitar player, of about 10 years.Second, please explain how and why Dave plays circles around Kirk?

I again refer to my point that the best solo's to come out of Megadeth have been largely facilitated by Marty Friedman.

Were as Kirks soloing ability throughout the majority of Metallica songs seem to match the underlaying rhythm with near perfection. As a guitarist you should know that speed and technicality means dick all if it doesnt go to the music

  • @FullmetalA7X ...Well no, because the guy that murdered Dime did it because of Pantera's break-up, and the thought that Dimebag was stealing his ideas. If Dimebag had joined Metallica in the 80's the whole thing would never have happened. Kirk would still be in Exodus.

  • Lol, I bet James and Lars had wished that they had picked Dime instead of Kirk.

  • whats up with the drums? lol

  • why do you compare dime, dave nd kirk, they have their own fuckin style to play

  • People its cause in Panteras early years,,....they were glam metal..then they changed when they heard about metallica..they changed there looks and their sounds.

  • This is really good, damn Pantera i never knew.

  • the solo is just insane!

  • this aint the pantera i know and love...lol...this singer sux cox and dix

  • the only band member i can recognize is vinnie, lol

  • holy shit, his voice is ANNOYING

  • hahaha fags this is good music glam??? who the fuck cares this is how shit was and it was still sick as fuck respect history and be eclectic music is art not condesinding veiw points from dumb drunks and wanna be fans fuck your self if you think cause you have a zz top beard, tatoos and, wear throw back metal shirts that you know shit about anything

  • Terry's voice is really weird.

    Good song.

  • @Twordragons6 i agree with you these guys are my favorite band but i will say im glad CFH came out and WolfgangVonPoserkila this isnt Hair Metal it is Power Metal but its just their look that would make people think of a Glam Band

  • isn't it inspired by king diamond

  • Dimebag without his pink beard. Blasphemy!! 0:50

  • 3:36 = fucking great photo

  • the gay mdr

  • Even this old "glam" version of Pantera kicks ass! Dime is such a badass guitarist!

  • They looked so fucked up back in the time

  • his playing reminds me of eddie van halens... idk y lol. its cool though. cowboys from hell is better though :P

  • really cool transitions from their glam period to what made them popular in the 90's.

  • omg dime bag..lol...rip i love you dude, wow you look sooo diferent here.lol.vinny looks like a cave man.lmfao.

  • omg dime bag..lol...rip i love you dude, wow you look sooo diferent here.lol.

  • @twodragons6 This isn't hair metal you fucking idiot.

  • @WolfgangVonPoserkila what is it?

  • @twodragons6 Fuck you! hair metal rules

  • @twodragons6 first of all idiotic piece of shit pantera of the 80's have nothing to do with 80's hair metal...second 80's hair metal rocked and produced great bands and songs...so go fuck yourself

  • And where are they now? Yes this isn't glam metal. I'd say more along the same lines as Lizzy Borden, Just a tad heavier.

  • @twodragons6 it doesnt suck shit either

  • this is great but this singer fuckin sucks

  • holy crap i never knew pantera started off as a glam metal band! lol

  • 2:53 lars pants are unzipped

  • How can you people bag on any one ! What the hell have you ever done that has gone viral, or even public ! Dime was cool in personality & as for guitar playing he smoked on the very first album til the very last, which is more than I can say for you who bag on the band in that stage. That was a style back then, & they changed, & you have still have done NOTHING !

  • vinnie sucks lars **** every night thumbs up for Lars

  • i hate ppl that come with comment just to knock ppl down. what u think you are losers, little childs.

  • @dickiedik5 They think that they're trolls..it's what trolls do

  • @Schuldiner11 hahahahahaha...goodone

  • @dickiedik5 They think that they're trolls..it's what trolls do

  • the "new" PanterA is better...

  • @langiskurz lolno.

    New Pantera is shitty screamo.

    This is real music son.

  • vinnie cracks me up in those pics, that sum cool shit

  • lol pantera used to suck so baaad

  • 10 people can't do guitar squeals like dimebag

  • 10 people can't do guitar squeals like dimebag

  • You can hear the Priest influence

  • Vinnie would definitely win a hotdog eating contest against Lars.

  • Vinnie would definitely win a hotdog eating contest against Lars.

  • This is not totally glam, you can tell they're men.

  • I am...THE BATMAN

  • @husky14bear thats damn right , those two couldnt hope to play like Dime or Mustaine.

  • @husky14bear aweonao saco wea

  • @husky14bear Fuck yeah!

  • @husky14bear WHAT!???

Dave Mustaine? You mean the ex Metallica fuckhead who let Marty Friedman do most of the soloing during his Epic appearance in Megadeth?

Dont get me wrong i like Megadeth, but are you serious?

Kirk is a legendary guitar player, and i would certainly put him above Dave any day, but i'm sure there are some good shredders out there who come closer to Dime than Dave!

  • @SeekerOfCheese

    Yes I agree ..

Dave isnt a shredder and do NOT come close to dime ..

  • @SeekerOfCheese Lol no!

  • @chordanae ? was that meant to be a reply to my message? to which i would say Lol yes!

  • @husky14bear A-FUCKING-MEN brother !

  • @husky14bear you make my night happy, i was expecting more people saying shit about kirk hammet and hetfield...

really your comment make me see the guitarists arent completely lost ....

    tks

  • @husky14bear James is better than Dave, and Dave doesn't come close to Dimebag at all. Dave even admits to being a shitty lead guitarist. And Dimebag who was the best of both worlds (lead and rhythm) said you can only down pick so fast until you have to alternate pick, unless you're James Hetfield. Don't get me wrong, I love Dave and Megadeth, but he is soooo overated by his fanboys.

  • @husky14bear Dave is nowhere near as good as dime

  • This was probably recorded in the Abbott brothers' dad's studio in Arlington, TX.

Their dad was a producer and performer of country music.

  • 2:52 , Why does Lars have his zipper down?

  • DIMEBAG...GETTCHA PULL

  • 3:36 was dime wearing that shirt backwards?

  • @Charbok12 Nah it's not on backwards. That is the way the 'Kill E'm All', originally titled 'Metal Up Your Ass' album shirt was released.

  • All you hard @sses who think Metallica are b!t*hes, know this: Without Lars Ulrich, there would never have been a Pantera.

  • @comeonewtf yeah but Lars Ulrich is a horrible drummer so no1 cares.

  • @comeonewtf are you are retarted or just trying to get a response. Pantera and Vinnie were thrashing before lars became anything. Lars chokes balls compared to any standard. He is comparable to Ringo. He happened apon a talented band, after some major replacements. Lars would have been playing drums at the local soup kitchen if his luck had not interjected. My friends eight year old sister can play better drums than Lars, and many people can say the same.

  • Night! :P R.I.P. Dime!

  • Not as bad as I was expecting, at least musically
