@4strokemike last I checked it isn't legal in Utah for a truck under 15,000lbs GVR to tow over a certain length without paying a road v and at least having a class C license
I can testify that Dodge transmissions are bad if you pull heavy loads. the trans on my 3500 broke 3 times pulling my 16k fifthwheel. The 3rd time it took out my rearend also. So, I sold the damn thing and purchased an F350. I know have over 160k on the F350 without one mechanical problem. The Deodge engine is great but they dont have a trans to put behind it. I have seen 3 other dead trans on rv pulling dodges over the last two years and not one dead F250 or F350. Facts are facts.
I'd like to see what happens when that Dodge has to hit the brakes, going down an icy hill in the winter, braking on a wet road and handling in the window. It may be a good invention, but really not something I want to see on the road, two doubles driven by some schmuck in a Dodge tail gating, not signaling and oblivious thinking he's the shit. The Hitch Hog does work great when attached to the hitch of the tow vehicle to reduce sag/tongue weight.
@Mattman7342 yuck yuck listen hill billy, a tractor trailer combination and this combination are two different things. Different suspensions, different weights, ABS and some times stability systems. Your talking about electric brakes that probably don't function worth a damn.
for all you idiots, towing doubles is perfectly safe as long as you have trailer brakes on the front trailer, and the rear if it's heavy enough. fifth wheels are very stable on the highway as it is, and a normal trailer won't change much at all. besides, most new heavy duty trucks are rated to tow much more than they safely can with one trailer.
@s0215497 the new 68re has been great for everyone iv talked to with the 6.7. iv hurd gus complaining it wont hole a 215 hp tune over a year of towing. but it wasent built to take high hp tunes
Actually not bad. 21000 lbs and some change. The cummins pulls it easy. I rode in that truck cruising at 70mph. Could do so with one finger on the wheel. Im a veteran trucker with 2 million miles experience. I designed the hitch because I knew there was a safer way of double towing. My hitch makes this set of doubles much more safe than the common setup out there. People arent gonna stop double towing or towing too large of a trailer with too small of a vehicle. So might as well make em safe.
anyone who trys to tow stuff like this should have a class a CDL with a doubles trippels endorsement and would have to pass a DOT inspection. I see too many idiots who cant drive to begin with try to tow and it ends with shitty dangerous driving that pisses me off.
you can clearly see at 0.13 the first trailer is draging the fifth wheel. The right hand tyre is on an angle, it can't be denied as of the weight on the second trailer.
@myfeeling4you The entire hitch moves around a bit because of the slop built into a reciever hitch. Thats the reason the hogs axle will angle a bit on a turn such as this. The weight of the trailer will naturally want to make the hog roll over when making a tight turn. The slop is magnified since the hog extends the ball coupler 17 inches.
Yes it is, totally legal. Its classified as a converter dolly and becomes part of the trailer. Per DOT rules a converter dolly converts a semi trailer into a full trailer. Same as a semi pulling doubles. A full trailer is a self supporting trailer, a semi is a trailer that has some of it weight resting on another vehicle.
If you look closely, you can see the rims are worth more then his truck
