  • @RomuloVideos2 Only a part of it was. Not the whole thing

  • @musicguy713 Are you sure? is very strange because someone told me she dubbed the entire concert of Madison Square Garden, and I don't know much about this one, but I wonder why did she dubbed. I'll check the undubbed version once again.

  • @RomuloVideos2

Its is virtually the exact same, so I don't even think its worth mentioning and I really don't know why she dubbed it, there were no missed notes, the "ooh yes" at 4:31 was filled in, the "iiiii" at 4:37 was cleaned up and she went for a softer "you" at 4:54 verses a belted one, its was really unnecessary and other than the fact that all the videos of the originals are bad quality most people would not hear a difference between the 2

  • @OKzs From what I heard, she was good, but she sounded kinda out of breath sometimes. The dubbed version was slightly better.

  • @RomuloVideos2

Yeah, I guess she just wanted it perfect - some of the undubbed is in the related videos if you wanted to see it

  • This performance is dubbed.

  • @RomuloVideos2 She still hits all the notes regardless lol.

  • YES, I love her vocal performance of this. I always sing along w/ her lower register of this song. This performance was AMAZING!

  • LOL, I was like, Mariah was honoring Stevie Wonder, and now, Mariah is being honored! What a coincidence! :D

  • @BlackLightning20101 Oh, I see, I'll have to look her up.

  • @BlackLightning20101 Yet again, I know nearly nothing of adele, but I read that she is a contralto, and yes, Mariah's voice type is debatable, but there hasn't been a contralto that can't belt a A5 with as much resonance as Mariah

  • @SuperPianogirl123 Yeah. Adele's a mezzo who had problems with her vocal chords: her album 21 is really good though.

As for a contralto belting an A5 with as much resonance as Mariah? Can't argue with that.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA I read somewhere that Adele is a contralto, I wouldn't know as(this might sound unbelievable)i only heard 1 song by her(Someone Like You), and I didn't know Rolling in the Deep was by her(I only heard covers, and remakes), but that's besides the point.

  • @BlackLightning20101 Light Lyric Soprano, she has a high placement, her lower register is undeniably great, but compare it to a true contralto(Toni, Adele ect)and you will see the difference

  • @SuperPianogirl123 i'm not sure why adele is on your list of contraltos... i've only ever seen her placed as a mezzo-saprano. I guess she sings in a contralto range for the album 21, but i assume that's what led to here vocal problems....I'd be grateful for your reasoning or source, since i have difficulty knowing vocal type by ear.

  • @SuperPianogirl123 If Mariah's not contralto, then Adele's definitely not one. At least, Mariah's middle and lower registers are dark and husky. There's nothing remotely dark about Adele's voice.

Mariah's voice type is debatable but Adele is a mezzo-soprano who had issues with her vocal chords.

  • I love the fact that Mariah's timbre remains feminine even when she's singing Bb2.

  • Okay guys...IF Mariah is not a contralto (this is a huge IF because I can't think of any type of of soprano can sing over half a song in the 2nd and 3rd octaves)...

    ...then what is she?

  • @BlackLightning20101 mariah's voice type is difficult to clasiffy because of the width of her tessitura. It overlaps both the standard contralto and saprano ranges. But it really just depends on whether you measure from the lowest note of the tessitura or the highest. Also a saprano and a contralto, at least classicly, sing parts written without regard for a singers range as long as they can hit the notes of that voice type and have the right colour to their voice.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA So basically, Mariah could've sang an aria for a contralto and put on an oustanding performance.

  • @BlackLightning20101 ummm....it depends on whether you'd want it to sound "normal" or not.An outstanding contralto by definition can not only sing comfortably and express a wide variety of colours within the lower 3rd but also would have a lower head voice base & chest voice cap then a saprano/mezzo resulting in a change in tone (strain) in those regs. Mariah's voice wouldn't do that (strain) and she'd probably be able to sing most of the head voice note in chest/mixed also.

  • @BlackLightning20101 in answer yes, mariah could sing a contralto aria (with the training), but no it wouldn't sound like a classical contralto (singer, not definition of the word). Her range would make the struggles a contralto singer has, which add a certain realness to their vocals, almost non existent. Plus her tone is very dramatic and colourful in a higher octave, but she only passes as a lyric contralto without a wide range of colours in my opinion.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA Wide range of colors? I disagree. Because I've heard Mariah sing down there with a light, breathy color, a heavy, gravelly color, and a very full, dark color. Umm...the only color Mariah lacks in the contralto lower range (actually it's more like baritone range if you ask) is a masculine dark sort of color. But even saying that she lacks a masculine color is pushing it: listen to the lower, contralto harmony in Always Be My Baby.

    Sure, she's no Toni Braxton.

  • @BlackLightning20101 i find she lacks the same sound of support that other contraltos have whether their lyric or dramatic. It's almost like a spinto sound, or vocal fry(which she's the queen of no doubt, whistle and vocal fry are basicly the same thing in different ways).Even other singers regardless of voice type don't sound like that, which makes me think of it more as an affection/technique then something that's naturally a part of her voice type(it's part of her range).

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA So do you think she adds a vocal fry to her low notes to illustrate a different color.

Oh and I'd like to take back my statement: I've heard Mariah perform runs in the lower 3rd octave before....

Still...her melismas in the lower 4th octave and upper 3rd are where it's at. They are much more consistent in quality there an the ones in both the 5th, the lower 3rd and 2nd octave.

Now that I've thought about it Mariah just might well be a sfogato soprano...

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA (cont) But Brandy (another contralto in the pop spectrum) has a naturally light voice herself. If you want to hear the different colors in Mariah's voice, let me know so I can tell you which songs and where to look.

As for singing contralto arias? Mariah would make the struggles of a contralto in the lower 5th octave nonexistent on a GOOD day. Mariah has her moments where her chest voice is so tired that belting above D5 is problematic (cont)

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA (cont) It is then (when her voice is tired or her nodules are acting up) that she would be able to sound more like a classical contralto.

Again, I can point you in the direction of some of her songs and performances where she's sounds more like a husky soul singer than...well, herself on a good day.

And excuse me: I meant belting above B4 not belting above D5...

  • @BlackLightning20101 *wide range of colours in the contralto lower range. She's more than a little breathy as well which isn't really good for vocal agility within a small range of notes. she can jump notes, octaves even but she can't do complicated melismas limited to the lower 3rd octave for an extended period of time. i never heard her bounce between semitones in that range.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA Bouncing between semitones in that register? I've heard her use melisma in the lower 3rd, upper 2nd octave but they were nothing compared to the melismatic phrases in the upper 3rd, 4th and 5th octaves in Vision of Love, Butterfly or Vanishing.

  • @BlackLightning20101 exactly, she does amazing melisma in other higher ranges quite often and comfortably. But not the lower 3rd, which is where a contralto should feel the most comfortable doing melismas and where they're the most amazing for contraltos in general. in my opinion.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA But then there's one more thing. Mariah's voice is pretty husky and her middle and lower registers have this richness that's uncharasteric for both sopranos and mezzo-soprano. However, it's not nearly as husky as a contralto.

It's really hard to analyze her voice because 1) her voice is just massive and 2) her nodules put it in a constant state of flux.

It must be really frustrating to be a professional singer with nodules.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA And one more thing: aren't low notes a priveledge. Because not everyone can sing low but there are a lot of people who can sing relatively high.

  • @BlackLightning20101 i agree, and i do think she adds vocal fry to a lot of her the things she does like when she fills out words sometimes in the upper 5th+ octaves. you know when it's like she's whispering out the words with a small highnote core and and a lot of bass. on the other thing, i was under the impression that it's easier to lose the top part of your voice since that ruetinely happens during aging, vocal wise. I've always heard going lower is easier to train.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA

Going lower is not easier to train, in fact...it's easier for a young mezzo to learn to sing as high as a soprano (though she might not be able to sustain the tessitura) than for a young soprano to learn to sing as low as a mezzo or contralto.

  • @primohomme and that is tru for most young voices(i.e. the voices of children, or voices that are growing for certain reasons), but every adult voice slowly gets huskier or thiner and lower as they age whether male or female and it becomes easier to extend your range down then it is to extend your range up. Like women can take hormones to sound like men(lower their range), but men can only use techniques to sound like women (raise their) range.

  • @TLPOMNIMEDIA

I was talking about a fully developed voice, say 21 years old at least

For young mezzos and contraltos is easier to learn to sing soprano high notes (Bb5-C6) than for a young soprano it is to learn how to project the mezzo/contralto notes (G3 down to E3)

  • That second Bb2 run up to C#3 <3

  • Amazing. Mariah is the most versatile soprano on the planet. An unbelievable lower register that could easily rival a mezzo/contralto, an effortless soprano (and high soprano) and a solid middle voice (especially in her prime). I agree with others here. She's a goddess.

  • absolutely amazing!! the soulful low notes, the incredible midbelted notes, the effortless & controlled whistle notes...i think i'm gonna cry :') great video

  • all those REALLY low notes and 10 seconds after the last C3, she hits a G6 effortlessly?? Really Mariah?? I agree, she is not human...

  • 4:35 to 4:50 I was laughing so hard!! I couldn't help myself HAHAHAHAH!!! xD

    Sorry.

Amazing video lamb. A real treat.

  • @LoboAscuridad1 Lol why are you laughing? & Thanks!

  • @MimiDahhling30 I'm sorry Dahhling. It's because of a another video I saw lol. And Whitney Houston and lol. It was a video made by a Lambie :)

    Just watch this:

    watch?v=jsld9gCCWRA

    It's at 0:13

MC has the most creative fans ever!

  • @LoboAscuridad1 Why lol?

  • @stardusth2o It's from a playing with the legend video xD

  • @Stefano94x Haha I agree Justin's lines sounded rehearsed and not wholehearted.

  • Off-topic: what I loathe about the performance is the intro with all those praises... They're not only boring as fuck, they also sound so empty and memorized. Seems like they're praising him just to follow a procedure.

Apart from this, great performance and fantastic video :)

  • @Stefano94x This whole show was a tribute to Stevie, so obviously their going to be praising him, thats the point lol. Furthermore, Mariah has been a big fan of Stevie's since she was a little girl and had many of his records. She also became good friends with him over the course of her career. There was nothing 'empty' about what she said lol. Stevie is a legend and one the most famous Soul/R&B singers ever! & Thanks, I enjoyed making it :)

  • @MimiDahhling30 That was just my opinion about how they sounded like, I obviously don't know what they feel at the moment lol (but I obviously know Stevie is one of the best singers ever).

  • @MimiDahhling30 i think @Stefano94x meant mostly what justin timberlake said.. it sounded so fakeee... he says "damn im in the same room as stevie" like he's one of his biggest fans but it's just because, like Stefano94x said, it's a procedure to love him. but we know (and i hope Stefano94x knows that) mariah is a true person and wouldn't like about this, she really does love him and idolize him as an artist...

  • It's amazing how Mariah (who is not truly an alto, no matter how many times she says it) can keep such a low contralt/tenor-baritone tessitura! and that's not all, but can go from baritone range up to high soprano at the drop of a hat! she is just freakin' fabuloust, my idol :)

Great job in the showcase @MimiDahhling30

  • @primohomme YAY!!!! AT last someone! She is truly not a contralto, she is an assoluta :)

  • @pedy19

I don't think she is really an Assoluta voice

A true Assoluta voice like Maria Callas is much heavier in weight and the timbre is much more mezzo/contralto, as the Assoluta voice truly develops from a mezzo-soprano voice.

I think Mariah would be certainly a soprano sfogato but more on the lyrical side of the spectrum, like Renee Fleming who has a rich color and a 4 octave range, or Erna Sack in early 20th century whose range was F3-C7.

  • @primohomme Well soprano sfogato or assoluta is basically the same thing, Maria Callas was indeed a force of nature still, Mariah can change the color of her voice and the weigh as well, consequently leaving the assoluta option open (for me). Erna Sack had a really huge range but I believe Yma Sumac would the best example, she had a light voice as Mariah, about 4.5 octaves and able to sing in her lower regist. I´ts a bit subjective I believe :p and confusing at times

  • @primohomme I actually kind of believe that Mariah is more of a contralto. I mean listen to where her natural speaking voice is placed! But yes, Mariah is truly the queen of all divas, and as I tell many of my peers, tell me when your faves can effortlessly shift from deep contralto to high soprano in one performance. Oh wait: they could never LOL.

  • @TheZenomeProject

well, speaking voice is not singing ;) I know some mezzos who speak in a girlish soprano voice, and some dramatic sopranos who speak like a contralto

  • @primohomme Mariah not only possesses this intricate knowledge of music and the technicality behind singers but she also has tremendous amounts of raw, God-given talent.

I don't care what you do: no amount of training can result in something like this.

  • @BlackLightning20101

Yes, Mariah is the perfect mixture of immense natural talent AND great vocal technique

  • @primohomme Georgia Brown-8octaves... Mariah Carey-5octaves!!! I must say that M is rarest voice and more cleaned but.. there is no singer who has 8octaves in range.. She is only one- Georgia.....

  • @iraklitushishvili

Honey, you are delusional. Georgia Brown might have 100 octaves, but she is a DREADFUL singer, she is ALWAYS pitchy (not quite in tune), and her tonal production is dirty sounding like she just drank vodka with raw eggs.

  • @primohomme Hey Fuck you .. I said that Mariahs whistle is high and cleaned but Georgia's vocal is amazing.. and you are delusional and biased!!! and her tonal production is dirty sounding like she just drank vodka with raw eggs.:))))))) ? you are foolish.. fuck you.. Georgias vocal is very very cleaned and rarest.. for me she isn't singer.. she has the best vocal control/after Rachelle Ferrel of course!!!

  • @iraklitushishvili

And there you have it, Rachelle Ferrell has quite shaky intonation

Just like Georgia Brown. So it doesn't surprise me you would like either one of them.

  • Great Vid!! Nice Job..

I Hope She Can Do A Kind Of This Low Notes..

I Always Cry Every Watching This Video.. And One Of The Best Performer Is Here..

    Love MC Always.....

  • Truly magic, her low notes were amazing in this performance.

  • @MrJotendra Indeed :)

  • The Vocal Queen :) This is Just Amazing And Something Else I Find Amazing (Sidenote) Is How The Critique r (U know Who lol) can find the itty bittiest things to say i cant he is truly a non motha fuckn factor bitch :)

  • @DreamloverLambi1 lol who are you referring to? ;)

  • Yes!! This is most definately one of her best performances ever. Her lower register has this dark but yet silky and sexy texture to it. That's what sets her apart from all the other lower register divas. Love her inotation and runs here too! Great Job :D

  • @musicguy713 And because of that, she's a soulful soprano! hehehe. Her runs are quicker than I thought! the more I listen, the more things I realize and hear that I didn't before. And that breathy quality she adds is really striking gold

  • This is so amazing, One of me favorite performances by her. LOVE her lower register! One of the bbest in the busniess. She may not be a contralto but she could sure fool you into thinking that with her mastery of the lower register. It's so soulful, dreamy, sultry, sexy, strong, controlled, and just wonderful. You go Mariah1! Great vid!

  • @MrButler124 Yes! so true.. sexy and sultry especially ;) haha.

  • @MimiDahhling30 hahahahahahaha just gives you tingles doesn't it! Now when someone come to my face sayin Mariah can only go high, I'mma lecture them about vocals and show them this video right chere hahahahah

  • when stevie is rocking to mariah's voice, u know its gud ;)

  • love it, understated, versatile singer! LOVE U MARIAH

  • If I were Stevie, I'd hold her in my arms and never let go!

  • Amazing vocal showcase! Great singing from bottom to top!

  • One of the best l female lower registers.

  • her lower register is so textured

  • the quality is amazing :)

  • @kelvinpyaeko thankyou!

  • these are the best low notes in a performance EVER!

  • @iiAmitx3

    PREACH!!!

in one performance she can demonstrate 3+++ octaves... ONLY MIMI CAN DO THIS IS THE POP MUSIC INDUSTRY!!! :D

  • @MimiXtinaChelleKRow yea!! and in tokyo dome in 1996 in the emotions performance she showed a C#3-Eb7 range in one performance!! unbelievable!

  • after the Eb3 in 2:52 she hits a lower note

  • I'm kinda surprised no one did this before. This is one of her best performances ever! Seriously, how anyone can sing this low through the whole song an then do this beautiful run in whistle register!? I'm tellin you, she's not a human! I totally love this performance.

  • @LoveGreatVocal SHE IS THE GODDESS OF BOTH OF THE LOWEST AND HIGHEST NOTES =)))

  • @LoveGreatVocal I know right! I just had to do a vocal showcase of it haha.

  • @LoveGreatVocal Have you ever listened Georgia Brown? She's vocal range is

  • finally someone does that!! thanks!!!!!!! :D

  • Great performance, and fantastic lows apart from the B-flat.

  • Nice Lower register. She's a goddess

  • i want her to release a new album!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Ahgwenas Next year most likely :)

  • The definition of vocal beauty. Her low register is so strong and well supported. Nice job Kenny.

  • one of my favorite performance from her too! the video enhancements were kinda extreme though, but still awesome

  • @briobrandon911 It's HD lol, I just upped the contrast a bit.
