I just love this song and all Eddie Reader songs. Saw her at a small gig in Glasgow some years ago! Fantastic!!! Thanks for posting this and thanks to melodyl52 who shared. Stars and hugs. ♥
Oh, how I miss being able to see Eddi live! Nobody ever comes to Geneva! I saw Eddi live about 4 times when I was in the UK - best concerts I've ever been to. And who needs Susan Boyle when you've got this?
What a song. It's massage is so powerful and strong. It's hard to think that someone with a voice as good as hers can bring this home so hard. Very good stuff from a brilliant singer.
This is why, to me, Celine Dion is nothing more than a tattie with a microphone in her face. Why oh why is Eddi Reader not a world famous singer? She should be!
There is talent (Eddi) and there is hype (Celine/Britney etc) and they inhabit two separate worlds... the real world and the commercial hype that many think is real.
Continue to do what you do Eddi.. there are those who love your music and your voice and your "realness"
I think the tempo's fine, but that someone's timing isn't quite right at times - i.e. that someone (bass player?) just seems to be not quite playing their part quite right (in time with the others).
Saw Eddi, Roy & the band a few months ago - amazing gig.
I can't believe I'm about to contradict one of my favourite musicians, but, Roy, I think there is something odd going on - is it the bassist that's off? - listen c1:00? Or maybe it's a mix/monitors thing, I'm not sure, but there's something.
Anyway, I'll slope off now, apart from to say that I saw Fairground Attraction at Liverpool Empire the night after Hillsborough - despite the timing (pun unintended!) it was the most amazing gig, thank you. (supported by a sublime Brian Kennedy)

A voice as good? Do you mean only Tom Waits-types can sell a lyric really well?

I saw her at the Royal Concert Hall a few weeks ago. Her voice melted me into my seat. She has one of the most beautiful voices i have ever heard.
