  • Gives a big thank you to all the Men who served in the 101 Airborne Division, at Phu Bai, Vietnam from 68-70. God Bless America

  • Thank You for posting this. I have so few pictures of my time in Viet Nam. I was based at Camp Evans with the 3rd FSSE. If you ever watched Mash, that was us. I flew support missions several times a week into the fire bases in and around the A Shaw Valley. Most notably firebase rendezvous and firebase Cherokee in support of the battle for Hamburger Hill.

  • war is hell

  • Big brother was Arthur R Ruiz ,still alive and well in Houston 7135290067 2/502 delta dealers

  • This is my friend and brother Bob's website. 101st Airborne is one of the most distinguished fighting units in US military history. I was TDY at Phu Bai where Camp Eagle was located in the red dirt that turn into over a feet of red mud during monsoon weather. Lots of firepower: Infantry, artillery, armor, Phantoms from Phan Rang, and naval bombardment offshore in So.China sea. Got hit nearly very night there. In 71 counteroffensive up north near DMZ so the entire I Corps was a hot zone.

  • @Micaiah2004 was with b co.327 inf.you said it so well,it was the same way in 69',remember firebase cannon and eagles nest, bob from so.cal. a mixed up 21 year old, proud to have served!

  • hello to all who served in the 101st at Phanrang air base 1966-67...i was in the USAF 614th TAC Fighter Squadron on the other side of the base but went to the 101st EM Club a few times...we had the greatest respect and appreciation for our 101st friends.

  • my dad was airbourne. He shot his friend in tha head 3 times by accident and the guy still lived for about 2 days. Vietnam devastated my dad. War sucks

  • 58000 americans bled to death in vietnam for RUBBER. it wasnt the US governmentUScorporationalcomplex propagandized "domino theory" or "RED SCARE!"..... it was rubber

Goodyear Michellin Firestone Cooper Tire stood to gain or lose BILLIONS

  • Comment removed

  • @Withnail1969 that "freedom/communism" "struggle" was nothing but a propaganda ploy, that worked really well I might add, millions of americans STILL dont know why we were in vietnam!! why arent the "commies" so scary today?

US Gov propagandists are PERFECT at their craft. americans have no clue when theyre being brainwashed by Fox "News" CNN ABC CBS NBC MSNBC etc...

GM Ford Chrysler FireStone Cooper to this DAY rely on rubber from South East Asia. its a multi-BILLION dollar industry

  • remember: usa fought the vietnam war for RUBBER. in the 1800's France invaded/colonized vietnam. rubber trees grew wild there. by 1964 France(Michellin) had VAST rubber tree plantations there.France caused Vietnam to split to begin with, north and south, the vietnamese wanted back together. north sided with the communists south with france (later US)

US tire makers DEPENDED upon rubber from vietnam in 1964

if the "commies" won, the entire us automobile industry would have been devastated

  • my father was in the 101st airborne in the late 60s early 70s. Harry Witko

  • why WHY WHY

  • @gunplow: Because we give a shit!

  • Pretty chilling, this was my life in 1969. I was 18, one of the youngest in the 326th for months. Does anyone remember Posie or Stinky (Stienkoway)? How about Sgt. Hartsuff? Or the guy from IA, John Henry.

  • Hi sjeub,

Were you in the 326th before or after May 10, '69. Anyway, God Bless you. peace JW.

  • I have buddy that was with C btry 2nd 11th artillery there on AirBorne. We split up at that time. I will foward this to him. Glenn Scarborough

  • My grandpa was a staff sergeant in the 101st In vietnam (kieffer)

  • Thanks for posting. This brought back some memories (some good). I was a medic with the 2/502 in '71-72, mostly on fire bases Normandy and Bastogne. I was known as Doc Hatcher and would love to hear from old comrades (or new friends).

  • @drewas55 did you know my grandad? his name was woodrow wilson ham

  • @drewas55 thank you for doing what you did .

  • @drewas55 I was in country from 70 to 73... just want you to know,in my opinion, medics were the bravest of the brave. Thanks Doc...for all the men you saved. Welcome home troop.

  • @drewas55 Thank you for your service good sir!

  • @emmelypeeters Thank you, Christoppe, and all the others for your kind comments.

Most all of us were kids swept up by events we didn't really understand and placed into situations in which we had little choice but to do what we had to do--for ourselves and our buddies. Someone once said that soldiers don't fight for country as much as they fight for the guy next to him. There's some truth in that.

  • @drewas55 Hello fellow Airborne veteran

I was also a medic, also in the 2/502. I got there in December 1968 and I got out alive in April 1970. I was 1st platoon medic in Alpha Company, then senior medic. Spent over 8 months out in the field. I was rarely on a fire base, mostly just out in the boonies. Will never forget the A Shau Valley, May and June 1969. Which company were you with?

  • @kelluccio Welcome home, Doc. I was a 91-Charlie and was assigned with HHC. I never operated with a specific company or platoon, except for a few ambushes outside the wire at Camp Eagle. When not on a fire base I spent my time at the btn aid station at Eagle. FSB Normandy was about 12-15 klicks from the A Shau and had five guns with which to slow NVA movement down. It was a noisy place but fairly secure. We got a few rockets from time to time and had a sniper harassing us for a while.

  • @drewas55 doc...donald e. bear KIA 1968...my father incountry 1968...101st.airborne rakkasan...break contact continue mission...doc

  • 4:26 dose anyone know where that firebase is

  • I think it may be FSB Bastogne, about 12-15 kms WSW from Phu Bai and Camp Eagle. I spent some time there in '71.

  • God bless my brothers. airbrone vet 2004-2007

  • May God bless my brothers many rest in peace. A former 101st Airborne Trooper, 1973-79...

  • Does anyone remember a 101st airbourne guy called Smitty, he's a homeless vet in Baltimore, I do what I can for him when I see him, I am a vetran myself so I tke care of my own. I would love to know if anyone remembers him, he did 2 tours, dates?

  • @modovonmodo Smith is a common name, but I remember Sgt. Smith who served his 2nd tour with Alpha Co 3/187th Inf. in late 1970 or early 1971; his first tour was in the A Shau Valley, & I think it was also with the 101st. (I also think he was one of the "old-timers" who were at Hamburger Hill). He was pretty slim back then, and he had blond hair. The Sgt. Smith that I knew left the jungle in early 1971 because he had a brother who was killed. He should not be homeless, so do what you can.

  • @modovonmodo Smith is such a common name that most companies have one or more. There was another Sgt Smith in Alpha Co. 3/187th Inf on his 2nd tour; he was crushed under a fallen tree on Dec. 5th, 1970 (my birthday) and medivaced back to the rear. He was a husky guy with brown hair then. There was a 3rd guy who might go by Smitty on a 2nd tour, but he was from Australia and I think his name was spelled Smythe. Whether your Smitty matches one of my Smittys, let's see if we can find him a home.

  • My uncle Jamie Hall was a Sceaming Eagle and was killed in combat on November 30th 1968. If anybody has any info about him that would be great... Thanks.

  • no i dont have any info on him but your uncle now has my respect

  • Thank You:)

  • Hey check out maybe the 101st website. They may have a link for Vietnam vets and you could ask there. You could also "google" and find out the probably many forms that are available for veterans. If you have any difficulty message me and I will help you

Or jail if somebody not go to work free.

    I hait the communismus.

  • The Hungaryan communist are ordered the H people to work all days of all weeks for help the vietkongs with aid and food. And lot of Hungaryans heated this kommunist system because they are must need to go to work always 8 hour for free evry day.The communism is the wronged thing in the earth.

  • This war was part of my youth in rural TN and it wasn't until I was grown that I realized more about the toll it took on so many lives. Whoever coined the phrase "All gave some and Some gave all" I feel said it well. God Bless You All & Thank You.

  • I have that Eagle patch on my right shoulder. As an Officer, I did walk in the woods with 30 guys.

They would die for me and I would die for them.

  • Well.

The USA lost lot of good people that times in V. But If they are use the C.I.A. before the war comes

they are maybe win the war without losting mens. The USA never use the C.I.A and this is the bigger mistake 1914-2001......

I think the second korean war is coming in this decade. So the USA next time will losting lot of mens too in the future.

N korea have an A weapon. And they are have the crasyest communist mens on earth now with Atom.

  • the cia was invloved. thats where SOG came from.

  • At 5:59 there is a photo of FSB Bastogne where I spent many days of my youth. It's strange how I look at these images today with sadness but also with pride. I had the honor of serving with some great young men and the tragedy of seeing a few of them die. God bless us all.

    "Doc" Hatcher, HHC 2/502, '71-'72

  • Was showing dad videos. He asked "wander if you can see vietnam?"He told me where and when. Then we tried his unit 326 Eng. There it was! He is in two of your pics. (CHURCH , NC) Amazing ! Thank You !

  • My Dad was 101st airborne in Vietnam (1969-1970). Thankfully, he lived through it, and I still have a Dad. Thank you for posting this video.

  • To the people who served in Vietnam, I would like to personally shake their hands with all the shit those guys go through. From the first time being in Vietnam to coming back. If I ever saw a peace protester spit in a face of a soldier, he/she is going to eat my fist.

  • For only with them could we ever earn the right to speak of them. No glory shines for country, party or unit but only, should they decide, with each that stands beside each in that moment in time, when all else is rendered insignificant by it's shining of what it means to be Brothers.

  • Let those that view history remember, that the pages are written with the tears of blood of only those that were part of it. And though we may be tempted to praise glory or cast judgement upon them, we should instead stay silent and view only.

  • 101st Airborne Hooah!

  • 101st mainbased in my commenwealth aint they?

  • If your commonwealth just happens to be Kentucky, or Tennessee, yes. :P

  • Kentucky is a commonwealth state where Ft. Campbell is located. The base itself is in both states near Clarksville, TN & Oak Grove, KY.

  • Jesus, I recognized the main gate of the 90th Replacement BN. The guys rotating back to the world would taunt hell out of us new guys even though they weren't suppose to have contact with us. I remember a group of them going by us grinning and saying "You'll be Soooorrryyy!"

  • On the lighter side. I was in the 25th Inf Div, Dau Teing, 1968 The 101st stopped at are camp, got drunk, and set our ammo dump on fire.

  • 101st Airborne B/2nd/501st Oct 70-Oct 71

Phu Bai/Hue; Camp Eagle; gunner to squad leader

Welcome home, Brothers, & Gods speed!

To our Heroes honored on the Wall -- We Shall NEVER Forget!

    Nice Video - thank you!

  • Dear god...this is what my father trained for? Holy hell...

  • I flew slicks with the Blackwidows. Slicks are the helicopters that put the guys in the field. supplied them while they were there, and took 'em out when it was time to move.

Once in an aborted attempted to insert a fire team we took 21 hits, we had 10 peeps in that helicopter and NOBODY was injured. Better to be lucky than good ! BW 14
