I am about to order a a 5 piece kit off c&c (24x18 bass, 10"&12, 16", 14" snare)
I'm in a rock/metal band and was wondering if these drums are definately going to be suitable for my bands/genre's sound? I play an Orange County kit at the moment, and the 2 brands are so different in their approach to building drums.
Just don't wan't to make a very expensive mistake!
@MrHerbalist66 C&C are great drums, I play rock music, influenced by Black Sabbath to Jimmy Eat World. I play the vintage Mahogany kit, but without the wooden hoops. I would suggest to do a lot of research and go for the sound instead of the company. I didn't go for C&C as a company, I went for the sound that their kits offered. Oh also I'd be careful about your sizes, mounting a 10&12" on a 24" bass drum could be difficult. Feel free to mail me if ya need to.
@acidoversydneyband Yeh I've changed that to just a 12" rack tom now. 14 & 16" floor toms instead :) I think c&c does have the sound I'm looking for - I'm a big fan off the old school Ludwig's and appaerntly these kits are very similar.
Natural lacquered finish, mini tube lugs, 14" x 8" snare!! - cant wait!!
@MrHerbalist66 Class man, fair play to ya. I went for a 13" rack tom and a 16* &18" Floor tom with a 22x14" bass drum. I hope it works out for ya. The snare should sound wicked, nice and deep, you'll get a great hard rock low end off that baby!
@shakakamooroar It's hard for us to tell you because we mostly tune by ear and feel. I can say that our drums are tuned tighter on the reso side and moderately tight on the batter side.
@memphisdrumshop Thankyou! i have a pretty good ear its just i dont know what i'm listening for when tuning. do i go round the lugs and try get the same pitch on each lug? is that it? i tend to try that and whenever i turn one the rest go up in pitch. i try to compensate but does not seem to work for me. i'd just like to know if thats the right idea of what i should be doing and i'm not missing anything. Cheers
Okay, the abalone is not for everyone but it has a special beauty that only can be appreciated in person.
It took 3 complete days just to apply the abalone to these drum shells. 99% of the drums we build are not abalone and are anywhere NEAR this expensive. Memphis Drum Shop is one of not the best shop in the country. Jim carries the stuffs others only dream of having.
And some of my very BEST friends are endorsers of other drums. i own 2 rogers, 1 camco kit.
very good drum solo dude could you tell me price of this brand? Is it a brand that you order your kit as you like but not? would be of great help, finding one that suits my degree thanks :)
Its the construction of the shell..its 3 ply w/ rerings and that gives you the ultimate drum sound..the mixture of think and thin gives you the best of both worlds..These sound great
i love the drummer

@memphisdrumshop Is this the exact sound that you get from the drums or are they micd?
CloudOfDarkness9999 4 months ago

@memphisdrumshop I was under the notion that the audio was compressed. no?
Cadmiumboy 1 year ago
@Cadmiumboy No compression. Some of our older videos have compression due to the auto gain on the old video camera we used.

heck, I can't afford my drums.

these shells are 3 ply maple/popular/maple. WITH ONE PLY REINFORCMENT HOOPS. Not a shell on the market to other custom builders... I don;t think.
the reason this kit cost so much is because there is over $1000.00 worth of abalone on the shells. and that is the TRUTH. HAHA

man i would use this to record sounds amazing

what kind of head does he have for batter and resonant
XXOAPTRAGEDY 2 years ago
The heads are stock C&C heads. They are the equivalent of Remo Clear(resonant) and Coated(batter) Ambassadors.
memphisdrumshop 2 years ago
Whoa, it comes with stock coated?
On the Toms and Bass?
mondlzac 2 years ago
Bass drum comes with a clear batter head and a smooth white front head, not coated.
