Crazy overclocking 8600GTS to 1024MHz!

yeah i over clocked my 2 8600gts 256mb gddr3 cards to about the same as this and it wasn't stable. it didn't make me able to play crysis on high or very high, infact it didn't change the game play at all. the only thin i noticed was the value of the mhz had changed on the cards and my picture was going fuzzy and darker by the minute so had to change it back asap

piece of cake...i once oced my old 8600gts to 1200/3120/1500(3000) 1.45v, well as long as it comes with 6pin pcie or dual 4pin molex(i stock on it to provide more power. ) + proper cooling you'll be able to do whatever you want.

@FSFchannel, he means that modern graphics cards have more processing power than the actual PC processor itself, i.e they can compute data so much faster it's just that they're dedicated to graphics.

I OC my 8600GTS to 1359Mhz and it idles at 55 degrees C, i also play crysis at 1600x1000 full screen, vsync on, and everything set to very high, and run it at 52fps, whats wrong with you guys?

Why i didnt saw u applyng settings? And why u didnt show the fps ingame? As we know, even 1.5Ghz PC with 128mb can start the game ... I smell a fail here. Its kinda impossible to clock 8600 that high.

Hi it is possible to overclock it to the highest, but after maybe 1 hour of crysis gaming on ultra high with 16x antiliasing, when you open your case, you'll see a toast with butter on it. LOL

Just to let everyone know it's impossible to get 1k core unless he Voltage mod his mem and core. so stop lieing Yes 1k core is pretty light on the GPU Since it runs really cool on stock cooler.

even if he did, its impossible for an 8600 to OC that far without getting artifacts like a motherfucker.

the max core is 732MHz and max memory bus is 489MHz.

any higher than that, and atitool will pick up artifacts, rendering it all but useless for gaming until you push the overclocking back down.

I was able to overclock my GeForce 7600GS memory clock and core clock only with 60hZ, so 400hZ to 460hZ

click apply :D ... use ATI TOOL at least .. u can do real time OC there... the only prb with my 8600 is this:

WORLD IN CONFLICT:

1: 540/700 - Max 30Fps

2: 560/700 - Max 26Fps

3: 600/700 - Max 14Fps

... must i OC the memory clock too? becuase my benchmarks get worst by the mhz :(

Same as chris2302 - I've used RivaTuner and you need to first click test, then click apply. After you take a video of that then I'll show some respect. @ss hole.

The highes ive had mine( same card) is from 675/1008mhz to 794mhz/1114mhz(fan on high)...proof is that i have nvidia smoke running on them setting..go to my profile to watch that video.

yes 8600GTS has 675 and 8600GTS SSC Edition has 754Mhz but both work fine at 900Mhz

Ye also 8500GT has DDR2 RAM vs GDDR3 on 8600GTS

my 8600GTS came with 700mhz ive OC to 750mhz could go to 800 but it gets a little hot.And its not worth overdoing it, you dont get that much performance boost.I get an average of 90 fps in cod4
