  • always play this song in the car and imagine yourself doing something incredibly dramatic and regretful.

  • I think the Super Nintendo had the best VG music ever.

  • Comment removed

  • This song should have played on a level where your on top of an airship thats going really fast. (with grey clouds in the background.)

  • Listening to all the music for this game after 8 years since I've played it... brings back good memories... I miss this game, I used to be so good at it :)

  • 1:09

    I can hear Gerudo valley?

  • @joohomom No.

  • Mmm honey :) I loved how if you let the Kongs sit still they would eat it. They had so many nice little touches in the SNES trilogy. Not to mention amazing soundtracks!

  • Sickness instrumental

  • I got in trouble once in first grade for humming this during library time. No joke.

  • @HerrShaun It was unlawful justice. *applies shades* You did well...

  • FANTASTIC.

  • in the words of mr rogers, can you say "epic", boys and girls? i knew you could..

  • Porque eles usaram uma música que te faz sentir indo pra guerra numa fase no meio de uma colméia?

    Porque isso é épico, cara!

  • Not only is the music great, but the scenery of the zinger hives were amazing.

  • I ate breakfast whilst listening to this and goddamned if it wasn't the most dramatic bowl of cereal I've ever consumed.

  • @neverfakethefunk were you eating Honey Combs?

  • @largest85 Hah! No, it was Honey Nut Chex.

  • @neverfakethefunk You sir, have earned a thumbs up, and my respect.

  • @neverfakethefunk HAHAHAHAHAHAHA =]

  • @neverfakethefunk PREPARE FOR EPIC HONEY NUT CHEERIOS!!

  • @neverfakethefunk

Was the cereal Honey Bunches of Oats or Honey Nut Cheerio's or perhaps Honeycombs? It would only be appropriate to this song.

  • @xigbar4ever SNES man..SNES.....

  • @xigbar4ever

probably because Rare put the effort into making the music sound epic.

  • @xigbar4ever Simple answer. A mastermind who knew REAL music in its most magnificent and awesome form showed what it was all about. Turning what little we had back then into pure perfection <3

David Wise, bless that man's musical touch.

  • The goddamn red bees are all I need to remember to hate one of my favorite worlds in this game.

  • @MiddleRed13 Soulless, I fail

  • The main problem with the music in this generation is the lack of authenticity, it's always some orchestrated souless generic music for a fps game.

  • i guess the 90s were the same for games that the 80s were for music. something thats never gonna be beaten and only gonna happen once..

  • goose bumps

  • from 1:00 is my favorite part it brings up tears :'(

  • @xigbar4ever cuz back when this was made and into the early PSX days of gaming it was about making a good game not just making a Hastily put together Pos game to keep revenues up THAT'S how a game that's 20 yrs old (well close to) has better music game play story ext then games today it rare to find anything new that's good there are some out there but usually in gaming the older the game the better the game is ^^

  • I'm studying Digital Music Production Engineering. It is one of my dreams to become at least 1/4 of what David Wise, Nobuo Uematsu, Hiroki Kikuta, Koji Kondo, or any other 90's VG composer is.

  • @CECEngineer1337 good luck at achieving that,i would really love to play a game that will have music as legendary as DKC series

  • I hated this level!!!! Damn red bees.

  • This is for the win! ^__^

  • Comment removed

  • @xigbar4ever You sir/madam deserve your 100th thumbs up for that amazing comment!

  • DKC2 was far superior to it's predecessor, though both are true masterpieces. DKC3 and Returns just aren't this good. DKC2 has one of the best soundtracks of any game of all time; each track is atmospheric and fitting, but has melody which the first DKC lacked. DKC3 starred Dixie and Kiddy, the two least memorable Kong characters, as well as feeling rather gimmicky. DKC 1&2 had well-balanced playable characters (Donkey & Diddy; Diddy & Dixie), though I preferred DKC2's. There were a few problem

  • @studiovinny DKC2 had best soundtrack bcuz it was entirely made by David Wise, although Eveline does pretty good tunes too

  • @xigbar4ever Should've read the description... my bad

  • @xigbar4ever Kondo and Rare's composer (forgot his name) working together I guess...

  • I hated this level because when you died, 80% of the time you would be falling for around 8 seconds.

  • Why is Take on Me as a suggestion?

  • @Star00X Because that song's equally as amazing as most of the DKC OST

  • YES PLZ

  • The money that i pay for this its worth. And i am happy that i played this game

  • @xigbar4ever yes

  • @xigbar4ever 20 years old? -_-

    but i think uy exaggerate.

  • @TheMostBleedingHeart It will be in four more years.

  • @BloodPump Ah,ok

    :P

  • This tune used to not be high on my list from DKC2, but it's grown on me as time has went on, now it's one of my favorites. Especially the bit that starts at about the 1:00 mark.

  • THE ZINGER!!!!!!! XD

  • This NEEDS to be in brawl... (looks at hackers)

  • @alexdz123321 It can be done quite easily, you just need to be willing to install hacks on your wii

  • @nintendo1889x

Ya; I know. However, I don't quite have a Wii YET. I will have one though.

  • Either this or Final Fantasy Vi has my favorite ost of all time.

  • @1918me

tough choice what game has the best ost, DKC2, Chrono trigger, Secret of mana, Street fighter, Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 6 or Starfox.

A reward should go to all of them

  • @xRocketzFighterx

    Agreed. :D

  • @xRocketzFighterx

    Earthbound; Mother 3?

  • @alexdz123321

all earthbound games never got released in the uk here and never round europe to :P I'm not touching the emulator version.

  • @xRocketzFighterx

    It's underrated times 15.

  • @xRocketzFighterx

Why only SNES? I can sort of understand only comparing music from that console generation, but how about some Genesis, TurboGrafx-16, and NeoGeo love? Metal Slug and Sonic 3 & Knuckles are both god tier. Easily on the same level as Donkey Kong Country 2 or Chrono Trigger as far as music is concerned.

  • @321cheeseman

I have a huge playlist of loads of video game soundtracks on all systems megadrive has my personal favourite soundtracks of all time, my list here is purely super nintendo only.

the megadrive audio chip is older than the snes but it takes great talent to use the megadrive to make a kick ass beat, rave, epic feel, rock music.

Rocket knight adventures, sonic 3 n K, moonwalker, alien soldier, lion king, mickey mania, contra hard corps, gain ground to name a few have great music

  • @321cheeseman Streets of Rage also has great music.

Let me put it this way. Even though now we have the ability to compose songs using real orchastras and electronic guitars, and real instruments, for some reason, using basic sound chips found in early consoles can sometimes produce music that is really amazing. NES, MSX, MD/Genesis, SNES, GB, even N64 and Arcade games from the 80s and early 90s.

  • @kdreamland It might have something to do with the fact that the lesser sound chips forced one to work more on composition technique. Seriously, the minimalistic music of many of today's games gets put to shame by the saturated thematics of earlier gaming soundtracks. There are of course exceptions - some games still do have legitimately good composition, but sadly, those are the minority, especially amongst more mainstream games.

  • @AgentDC76 Frank Klepacki's must for the Command and Conquer series ans basicly anything made by ZUN for Touhou are some of those exceptions. But you are right, most music nowadays is minimalistic and outright bland. Music as playful as it was in SNES times has become hard to find. ._.

  • @KamuiKunitsuna Going by what I've heard from Touhou in some countdowns, I would completely agree.

  • Anyone else craving honey all of a sudden?

  • This sounds like a song for a Mortal Kombat style fighting game when inside a dragon's stomach or near the dragon's heart.

  • I always love how this tracks intensity rises up to the end and falls again,

  • reminds me of some old skool van damm music lol

  • This makes me think of a Martial Arts demonsration...

  • Man, this music doesn't make me think of a beehive anymore. It makes me think of some hellish computer emergency.

"WELCOME TO THE NETWORK. WE HAVE BEEN WAITING." Etc.

  • @LoneSniperSG Funny that it was actually used in a Mario Romhack that way.

  • 1:01 - Reminds me of "Separate Ways" by Journey.

  • @xigbar4ever

this game easily has my favorite soundtrack of all time, but this generation has some amazing ones too. Listen to nearly any song from shadow of the colossus and it will blow your mind

  • @xigbar4ever

The people who made these soundtracks back then knew what they were doing; what feeling and atmosphere they were trying to create and how to acheive it. Nowadays, the young guns who make these tracks are too focused on electric guitars and bass noises and extreme techno scratches to get the sound and the scenery to go together. That or they go overboard on orchestra. They refuse to take a step back. It's actually very disheartening. Hopefully it'll get better.

    AIP§

  • c'est juste trop bon

  • @xigbar4ever

Not necessarily, you just need to diverge from the mainstream a bit to find it. For one, Sins of a Solar Empire has great music. Even Kingdom Hearts, which I would be very surprised if you weren't knowledgeable of, has good music.

  • Levels this played on:

    Hornet Hole

    Rambi Rumble

    Parrot Chute Panic

  • the first part (especially between 0:38-0:50) of the music feels like if you were

in a forest, lost, and you get the feeling of someone trying to ambush you :S

Could have been a great soundtrack for Rambo :)

  • @akatsukihunter is the most beauti part *-*

  • Creepy

  • @xigbar4ever tath`s true at 100% dude you has read our mind

  • @xigbar4ever Couldn't agree more!

  • ZINGERS ARE THE DEVIL!

  • @xigbar4ever simple really...people care more about graphics than music and gameplay overall these days.....

  • @xigbar4ever

dude its like the beetles they are still beter then 90% of anything new these days lol

  • @xigbar4ever Dave Wise, that's how.

  • Comment removed

  • @syndicator Don't be so negative.

  • japan has nobuo uematsu. We Have David Wise

  • Its like this composer makes us proud to be children when these games came out, btw i hope im keepin my fingers crossed ..0 dislikes

  • man oh man, who ever made this music, id like to say thankyou!

  • the boss zinger is strong -_-

  • i still play these games on my moms super Nintendo :)

  • Hell this game had 3D rendered graphics, better than PS2.

  • @xigbar4ever Okami started on the PS2. Also, every Metal Gear Solid game has had better music, not to mention many PS2, PS3, Xbox and Xbox 360 exclusives. If anything, modern music is far superior in quality.

  • @CaptainRaccoonWhitly I don't know the music of the metal gear series but I guess it has music ore like a movie? This does not make it necessarily better. Just a different style. The music of Donkey Kong is really creative and a Rare example of greatness (pun intended). Also these are two completely different types of games and therefore need different types of music. So I don't know if you can compare them. Also judging from the number of remixes Chrono Trigger (SNES) has the best music.

  • The music gives a sense of urgency, its amazing.

  • @xigbar4ever That's not really true. Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Okami all have better soundtracks. >_>

  • @CaptainRaccoonWhitly None of them as memorable as the games of the past.

  • 1:02 simply beautful

  • T.T beatifullllllllllllllllll

  • @AJStherandom you lost many time playing another games, this game is awesome and the music fuckin amazing! xD

  • Or if you have a wii and internet, download it for virtual Console.

  • Im scared to death of bee's, but that didnt stop me of playing and listening to this awsome song!

  • @ajs... you seriously need to buy a supernintendo with this game off Ebay and play it.....

  • Rare + David Wise

  • @JordinaryDude =win

  • @xigbar4ever because class is permanent

todays music is just so rushed and very little thought put into 90% of it. sad i know... very little good music out there right now

  • I always remember that if Dixie Kong was playing, when she was sticking to the wall if you let her sit there long enough, she would lick the honey off her hand :)

  • @PennyLane6383 Only if she was on the floor.

    Or was it both?

  • @PennyLane6383 Not alot of people realize it, but if you look at Diddy, he doesn't look like he has an animation. He's actually sucking the honey straight off the wall. ^^

  • @PennyLane6383 that's awesome lol

  • Amazing ost... I wonder where I can download it. ;s

  • ARES

  • @wilatemodel Thanks, but I've found the complete OST in a random site :D

  • The third Hive level was a pain with that violet Squawks... Oh my god... and all of these Zingers...

  • I remember dying so many times at that level the first time.... ^_^

  • Is it creepy that when I hear this theme I imagine a bunch of monkeys trapped in a hive getting killed by zingers one by one violently as they try to escape?

  • That is creepy! I can picture them impaling the monkeys with their stingers... now the image is etched into my head!

  • LOL XD

At 3:39 the monkeys begin running and it has a slow motioney feel. Then at 1:01 the zingers come out and start killing everybody and theres's crying and sadness as everybody's fate is sealed by the swarm...

  • Trust me, I'm not a demented person. It's just that I was up at 5 A.M cleaning with nothing else to do. So I was listening to this music and it made things go through my head XD

  • @Jakester12621 hahaha is that what happened to you on this level?

  • @pieisgood235

lol x] why yesh of course~! Just not as gruesome though xD

  • @Jakester12621 That, is a fucking awesome image to picture to this song!

  • super rockin maynnnnnnnnnnnnnnnne
