É a segunda vez que ouço e vejo esta cena deste filme. A primeira vez eu tinha nove anos. Era o ano de 1956 ou 57. Sempre comentava com outros o quanto tinha sido impactado, mesmo sendo uma criança. Agora, com 63 anos eu revejo esta cena com este incrível arranjo. Bom demais!
this has always been my favorite song from this musical. it came on yesterday on TV and I started watching it and I forgot how much I loved this musical! Oh. and by the way, I am 17 years old. :)
I remember watching this on the CBS evening movie in 1968 when I was eight, and thinking, I can't wait to grow up and be like one of these guys and marrying one of those gorgeous and talented girls like Jane Powell or Julie Newmar. Still love to watch this movie.
@AshleyandNCISrox94 That line was almost taken out. When the writer refused, the song was almost removed from the script. The movie wouldn't have been the same.
Saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers last night at the St. Louis Muny Opera, awesome. I think this is my favorite song. Love the dancing and choreography!
Shout out to all of those that watched this with their mom, dad, grandparents, because without them I wouldn't know a good movie from a baseball bat. Love you mom :) you are the best!
THIS SONG IS IMPORTANT TO BE BECAUSE MY COUSIN THAT PASSED AWAY USE TO SING THING WHEN HE WAS OUTSIDE CHOPPING WOOD...I MISS HIM SO MUCH AND THIS JUST BRINGS BACK THE MEMORIES....RIP JOJO 1980-2004
@koolkatkarine My mom always told me at that part that he was deliberately getting VERY far away from everyone before he swung that axe so violently and that I must NEVER EVER do what he just did.
Aha. I agree. Ben is very good looking but the real reason you never see him dance is because the guy who played him (his name is slipping my mind at the moment) was a, I think, baseball player and not blessed with the ability to dance as well as his onscreen brothers. (:
@thenamesbanana Yeah my sister agrees, aparently alot of the dancers where from a ballet company, except Tamblyn of course, Keel doesnt dance either but hey when you can sing like that who needs to
I remember humming these songs in school, some of the other guys would make fun of me and call me gay, I said nothing back as I beat them into submisson.
This movie also played a role in my manners and how I treat women, partly due to the fact that that was the reason my mom showed me this movie in the first place.
Amazing movie my mom saw this as a kid and bought it for my three sisters and I to watch growing up. we can all to this day sing and quote along with it. became a christmas tradition. we even all had our guys picked out since i can remember watching i had Frank

@oOChaosWolfOo for the record....Howard Kell stated in his autobiography that all of the dancers/actors in this movie are straight...all of them married and had alot of kids
@SONOFHERO52 well of course. who ever said they were gay? they are possibly the manliest fightinest singinest dancinest men in all these hills since our own family here in Arkansas.
@JSTONE9352 they were also thinking of taking it out of the movie, because they couldn't get the scene right. every time they shot it something was wrong, the ax swings were out of synch or something else. and they were going to do one more take or take it out. thankfully they got it right on the last take. :)
@Jakeyyy93 well actually it was the choreographers fault...he wanted the dance shot in a straight complete take..it took them a entire day to get it right....the director claimed he could have done it just as well in pieces spliced together....but hey..we got a great number in the end
one of the great musicals of all time i just find this song so beautiful it reminds me of my children i watched this film so much they loe it as much i do
I have the dvd because this was my favourite Christmas film! During the interviews they explained how sometimes they nearly suffered fractures during the stunts! Benjamin the good looking actor didn't know how to sing or act! During the barn dance he was always in the rear so you couldn't notice!

This song almost didn't make it into the movie for a couple of reasons,
first they kept messing it up and had to do take after take, finally they
decided to give it one more try and if they messed it up again they were
going to quit trying, they nailed it perfectly on the final try. After it was
filmed movie co. executives wanted to cut the scene because they felt
the lyrics were too suggestive but then eventually changed their mind.
JSTONE9352 2 weeks ago
@JSTONE9352 Really? Too suggestive? And they say it's OUR times and music that are messed up.
