  • I've been watching this film since I was a toddler 20years later I still love it lol

  • This song almost didn't make it into the movie for a couple of reasons,

first they kept messing it up and had to do take after take, finally they

decided to give it one more try and if they messed it up again they were

going to quit trying, they nailed it perfectly on the final try. After it was

filmed movie co. executives wanted to cut the scene because they felt

the lyrics were too suggestive but then eventually changed their mind.

  • @JSTONE9352 Really? Too suggestive? And they say it's OUR times and music that are messed up.

  • The 8th brother was lost due to the axe swinging last winter! great song and great movie!

  • Came 2 my moms just so I could watch this movie. The song was stuck n my head!

  • @MrBobbybrus Well fuck you're old :P Just kidding, I wish I could have watched this on tv, too bad it doesn't play anymore :(

  • i swear, i cant watch him dancing with that axe, i have a small panic attack whenever i see it!

  • @MissLorettaC me too!! LOL

  • All this axe swinging doesn't seem very safe.

  • @koolkatkarine dude, they are woodsman thats like telling a painter hes not safe with his paint brush :)

  • @koolkatkarine My mom always told me at that part that he was deliberately getting VERY far away from everyone before he swung that axe so violently and that I must NEVER EVER do what he just did.

  • How could they possibly be lonely with all those sheep??

  • @Apteryxrules Men need women, admit it as they did!!!!

  • @Apteryxrules Cause you cant get no sleep when you sleep with sheep

  • @Apteryxrules

Can't make no vows / to a herd of cows!

(true they don't rule out the sheep)

  • My favorite scene!

  • thanks for the posting of this , i love this movie

  • one take.

  • Come on, let's be honest guys, Ben's still the best looking brother. And we all know he's only there for looks because you NEVER see him dance haha.

  • @thenamesbanana

Aha. I agree. Ben is very good looking but the real reason you never see him dance is because the guy who played him (his name is slipping my mind at the moment) was a, I think, baseball player and not blessed with the ability to dance as well as his onscreen brothers. (:

  • @thenamesbanana Yeah my sister agrees, aparently alot of the dancers where from a ballet company, except Tamblyn of course, Keel doesnt dance either but hey when you can sing like that who needs to

  • hah my theatre teacher told us today that they almost cut out the sheep part because it was "taken the wrong way"

  • Don't call them Gay, football player's take ballet, and they aren't gay

  • one of my favorite movies:) Frank & Gideon are my favorites.

  • Amber Tamblyn(House, M.D) looks soo much like her dad!

  • I remember humming these songs in school, some of the other guys would make fun of me and call me gay, I said nothing back as I beat them into submisson.

This movie also played a role in my manners and how I treat women, partly due to the fact that that was the reason my mom showed me this movie in the first place.

I still have the vhs tape from years ago.

  • @FilipinoNative WHAT DID THEY KNOW?!

  • @FilipinoNative I couldn't agree more. Mom said, "Son this is how you treat a woman" :)

  • @surfinsamoan08 Kidnap them?

  • @GTZs10er haha no no on page 4 you can see what FilipinoNative wrote and I am talking about how that's how you treat a woman lol

  • @oOChaosWolfOo ummm, gay??? And Frank is my third favorite, haha :)

  • @oOChaosWolfOo for the record....Howard Kell stated in his autobiography that all of the dancers/actors in this movie are straight...all of them married and had alot of kids

  • @SONOFHERO52 well of course. who ever said they were gay? they are possibly the manliest fightinest singinest dancinest men in all these hills since our own family here in Arkansas.

  • @oOChaosWolfOo

Even MacGYVER was one of those boys at one point. :)

  • @MrsStevenHyde1 you should see him as Riff in west side story!

  • @brie911rox Oh I have, one of my favorite movies :D Riff is definitely my favorite character♥♥♥

  • Some of the executives at the film company wanted to delete this song

as they felt it was too suggestive (this was 1954). Thankfully they

    were convinced otherwise.

  • @JSTONE9352 they were also thinking of taking it out of the movie, because they couldn't get the scene right. every time they shot it something was wrong, the ax swings were out of synch or something else. and they were going to do one more take or take it out. thankfully they got it right on the last take. :)

  • @Jakeyyy93 well actually it was the choreographers fault...he wanted the dance shot in a straight complete take..it took them a entire day to get it right....the director claimed he could have done it just as well in pieces spliced together....but hey..we got a great number in the end

  • These guys aren't getting much work done!

  • is it possible to be in love with film?

  • one of the great musicals of all time i just find this song so beautiful it reminds me of my children i watched this film so much they loe it as much i do

  • I have the dvd because this was my favourite Christmas film! During the interviews they explained how sometimes they nearly suffered fractures during the stunts! • I use to watch this movie with my Grandma.. Great memories as a kid. She just past away and this reminds me of her. Thanks for posting.

  • I love this movie. It always makes me feel so wonderful. They don't make many feel good movies today like they used to.

  • the voice is a dub over. but still a great song

  • @zeekeof2 of course they dub over their voices, lol otherwise it would sound like "hey Larry! switch to wideframe left! step on it!" "hang on...got it!" and such lol. we've been doing voice overs for a loong time and good thing too

  • @oOChaosWolfOo

I meant a voice over from a different person and I m sure they have been doing voice overs for a while

  • @zeekeof2 oh really? they did that?? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

anyway, ya we've been dubing overs for a while, we still use them sometimes. i dont know about that kind, but i mean where the actors say the line after acting the part

  • Best movie ever!!! i cant figure out if they have this exact version on iTunes or not though... cause the one i got... the beginning part doesn't sound right =/
