Tsunku explained his method on another show. Basically, he looks for anti-idols. Girls who are too polished, who come in -expecting- to become idols, are not genuine and end up being difficult to work with.

Instead, Tsunku wants the girl who came to the auditions on a whim, or who was dragged along by a friend -- the classic "girl next door" who doesn't know her own potential. And at that time, that was Koharu.

actually as you get older your eyes do change. i heard somewhere that all babies have blue eyes when they are born. Also the Iris in your eye gets smaller. In Asians it might take a little longer thus why they weren't exactly sure how old those girls were in the olympics. Also In babies the eyes are in the center of the face and as you grow, your chin and jaw get longer so that your eyes are more like 3/4 of the way up your face. Also hairstyles and skinniness can alter perception of the face.

Okay...so maybe I'm the one with a diffrent oppinion, I actually like her. Tsunku saw potential in her not because of her face. She looked sloppy when 12 (her auditions). Look how populair she is now. So maybe her voice isn't perfect but she's trying and improving. Her voice make the "Typical Koharu" and her uniqueness :)

I hate to say it but I really think Koharu was chosen mostly because: 1. She's pretty, and 2.Because she has a natural confidence in front of a camera and she seems to have a fairly cute personality.

If you think about it, in a situation where the record company is looking for girls who have singing ability, dancing ability, looks, and personality, they aren't always going to find girls in each generation who have all of this at once.

I can understand how some Berryz & C-ute singers don't have "unique" voices. You have to remember they were all chosen to join H!P when they were extremely young (4,5,6,7,etc.) So naturally since they're in/went through puberty their voices change. However, I still love them. =)

i agree with honesty. have you heard her sing and have you tried singing her songs? her solos have a unique "happiness" to it that makes it so hard to copy, unlike takahashi and reina who are the powerful singers in mm. the other girls have more technique than koha but koha has that unique quality in her voice. i used to hate her, but after listening to her solos now, she's grown on me
