  • i had a stress fracture a year ago and i can do anything but run, if i run later on in the day my leg hurts right where it was fractured. is it possible the pain could be coming from something like this, rather than my leg actually still being injured

  • interesting how u can mainpulate ur mind in such ways that could benefit ur life and no so beneficial i reckon this guy is lucky to be aware to this treatment

( what if he gets a real bad itch in his AMputee Leg that would drive me nuts )

  • the best way to fix that is have the nerves caped off ,,warning , it can be quit painful until the nerve settles down , nerve continue to grow if bone is damaged it miss-forms the above soft tissue and phantom pain is the nerve is bundled and when moved give a spastic sensation like

  • Strange, I would think tricking the mind into thinking the limb is still there would prolong the denial...but hey, whatever works.

  • @Shrawty

    Just thinking the same thing.......wierd.

  • so basically, it is like a boost of morale or confidence. The mind is what is causing the phantom limb pain... interesting.

  • so dope.

  • Yeah, this thing is a brain hack because it makes your brain think your leg's back.

  • boy can i relate..i have that feeling to. tons of phantom pain, feel like my toes are tied up in a big rope. or my toes are being cut off, constant pins and neddled and on and on.

  • Oh my gosh, I think I had professor Ramachandran for a class back then...

  • Yeah, saw this on House also, but heard of it elsewhere....don't remember where. Pretty neat stuff.

  • I saw this on an episode of House.

  • What episode... Tell me now!!!

    Please!!

  • For some reason, it really saddens me to watch this.

  • "For some reason"?

I'll venture a wild guess here and say that the reason it saddens you is THAT DUDE LOST HIS LEG!

  • I was trying to be politically correct. Thanks man.

  • what a neat idea - my fella is leg amputee and this looks like good news - we been trying all sortsa cures - watch this space

  • I know your post is old, but if you haven't found any more info, look up Professor Ramachandran at UC San Diego. He invented this technique. He also has a book on the subject of phantom limbs called "Phantoms in the Brain". Good luck.

  • I just also noticed that someone posted the entire BBC show about this. Do a YouTube search on "phantoms in the brain". I hope this is helpful.

  • Cool!
