So, we must adjust, live well, love much and laugh a lot. Libertarians will go nuts otherwise. My point was that Ann naied this one, and she's beautiful - not that that means anything.
It's crazy that everyone is blaming this on Bush. What about BHO and his cronies that were MAKING the loans to those that should NOT have had loans? BHO has been working with Ayers (yes.. there IS more than a casual know who is between the two - wake up America) on putting those that would vote for BHO in homes. The shady companies that made the loans are to blame as well. Ask yourself: why DID BHO vote against McCain 2 yrs ago when he had a fix for the mess that he saw coming?
Try logic, reason, the historical record, lessons of history and common sense, instead of aggressively rejecting them all in favor of Liberal theology and its pagan mysticism.
Whether they nationalize mortgages or nationalize banks, you can bet your money, your liberty, and your life the government will seize this opportunity to nationalize a whole lot of something.
Most federal spending has nothing to do with the role of government, but that doesn't stop Democrats from loving them, and promising more of it.
The source of this "mess up" is the GSEs (Fannie, Freddie) and regulations that forced lenders to lower lending standards, e.g., the Community Reinvestment Act.
Democrats LOVE both. The US Congressional Record is stuffed full of Democrat arguments to grow the GSEs and increase lending to people who can't pay it back.
There are many factors that have contributed to our current state and it's obvious that the extent of your research is the biased liberal media... Ugh, lazy ass libs who like to roll everyone else under the bus because nothing is ever their fault. Hahahaha!
Lastly, inflation, which is increase in the money supply. Only two entities can cause inflation: Govt and its agent-the Fed. Only they can spend money into existence and have most control over how fast banks can multiply the money they inject. When they inject too much, they raise rates, which puts the country in recession.
ROFL. Are you freaking serious? That was 500 billion dollars over what, almost seven years? This bailout plan, on the face of it, is more than that in a single proposal...and believe me there is more to come. This will equal the cost of two Iraq wars in a single bailout easily. And keep in mind, this doesn't even come close to the actual dollar loss in home value depreciation, which HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IRAQ AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PERSONAL IRRESPONSIBILITY AND GREED.
It has ALL to with Iraq since that massive mistake lowered America's reputation in the world, thus the $ dropped, thus those mortgages weren't supported.
Learn about economics and we'll quit laughing at you.
You want me to learn about economics when you are saying the dollar value is based on global perception of the United States? I don't think I've ever heard such an economic argument. An irrational liberal one sure, economic, not so much.
I understand you do not have a deeper understanding of economics, and I don't fault you for that.
"Value" is based on "Confidence & Desire", that's a tenant of all economic activity.
The FACT Bush vastly lowered our country's standing in the world has had the simple effect of pushing our "Value" lower, thus prices rise for what we pay for imports and the products we produce lose value to others.
This is the entire reason our mortgage crisis happened. Nobody in the world respects us.
Really? I was under the impression that by lowering lending standards so that people who should not be buying homes were, we falsely increased demand. This false demand, created by speculators and people who did not actually have the resources to pay off their loans, artificially inflated home prices. Then again, maybe my understanding of economics is just to "basic". I'll go back to my corner and watch the house of cards fall as you fix all the wrong problems.
Also, the economic meltdown would have occurred with or without Iraq. Think about it. Just do some basic math and think about it. The housing crisis costs way more than the Iraq war. When comparing the cost of the war to the cost of our individual and cultural irresponsibility in housing, Iraq is a drop in the financial bucket. The economy is in ruins because we don't know what anything is worth anymore in terms of major collateral. No collateral, no lending.
Dude, are you stoned? You must be stoned. Let me just make this real simple for you: Getting high does not increase you knowledge of economics, or anything for that matter. Well, maybe of Tostitos, but that's hardly helpful right now. I'm not sure what "deep economic enlightenment" you think you reached, but without understanding supply and demand, the rest is moot.

Guess who the housing/financial bailout helps?
HOLLYWOOD!
Section 502 allows $15 million to film and TV producers EACH in tax relief.
Think of THAT if you lose your home.
The Senate expanded the bill 3 pages to 450 pages of PORK.
Hollywood refused labor demands this winter, yet will gladly take USAs last dollars?
1) ALL major networks REPORT on this atrocity
2) Boycott films that take this $

I have my list...and it all a product of Govt interference, Rep or Demo:
John Maynard Keynes (completely warping economics)
Community Reinvestment Act (Carter/Bush 1 Clinton)
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act in 1999 (Reps)
The Fed (1% rates and allowing banks to loan money they don't have and leverage it in secondary credit markets)
Fannie and Freddie (banks could dump suspect loans forced by the CRA)
NBER and BLS (fudging inflation, GDP and unemployment stats, misleading the public on economic health)

The MORTGAGE MESS (a 4 step fraud):
Step 1. "Redlining" -- Spawn GSEs (like Fannie), faking outrage over lenders NOT lending money to those who can't repay.
Step 2. "Community Reinvestment Act" -- alter FEDERAL LAW so "community organizers" (like ACORN & Greenlining) dictate lending practices to lenders.
Step 3. "Predatory Lending" -- Fake outrage over lenders having lent money to those who can't repay, as the toxic debt collapses.
Step 4. Call it "deregulation", and blame others.
