  • There is nothing we can do about it. China is one of the fastest growing countries in the world and these major companies want to be apart of it. They're willing to bend over backwards to get that profit. America, as a whole, is no different. Americans want those cheap products and the only way you're going to get them is through China.

  • @ShadowGunner82 or other countries that offer cheap labor.

  • It's really wild to me how police in America truly protect the people from harm, while the police in China keep their people in control...as in they don't even protect the people...they protect the government. My gosh, I have a Chinese friend who probably knows nothing of 1989...Police took his family's possessions because his mother gave birth to his little brother (2nd child). It's wild. :( I really want to ask him about June 4, 1989 now that he lives here in America free from being stalked!

  • They know ,but it`s taboo ,so they play around .

Btw communist totalitarism has a life span of less than a century(something between 45-80 years) ,food for thought ;)

  • that man said '89'....look at his face expression and you'll understand ;)

  • thats it

    fuck yahoo

    switching to google

  • @Thetrollmaster2000 that still doesn't mean ur info will be safe from police in china they will still give them it to get income from china.

  • Deleting my Yahoo Account...

  • shame on American business and American government for even getting involved in China. The only China is The ROC!!!!

  • Ha ha just like the U.S. controlling out site's redirecting us to bogus url's or saying sorry that page no longer exist's i wonder why.

  • @woulfe42 If you go to google and get redirected when you click a link, you have a virus that edits your host.init lol.

  • yea the guy whispered "89"; how on earth would this guy know the year when this happened? these guys are the elite in the highest university of China. they are bound to get in serious trouble if they showed that they know of this event.

  • They knew they are ling even my mom knew( i am chinese) and she lived in china b for much of her childhood how could they not know.

  • They are acting stupid.... Can you imagine them recognizing and say yeah there was protests and the students that started it came from my university!

  • Talk about IGNORANCE on a whole new level! I know this picture and I'm not even a Chinese University student!

Oh yeah,I forgot! China Google is BLOCKED!

  • don´t do evil

  • actually these young guys know Tank Man, they are hiding something in front of camera。。。。

  • this part is without subtitles :(

  • the british are such asshole liars.

  • 2:17 WTF!?!?!?!Hes got a dead cat!

  • I don't understand how the stats of this documentory state that it has many views within China in spite of censorship from these (evil/certainly immoral) internet companies.

  • Ooooh, I just made Bing my search engine.

  • @LosAngelesWeedSmoker

    1) fail. microsoft = bing, and microsoft is also among the accused

    2) if you paid any attention to news and media you would know that for about at least a year now, google stooped complying to censorship in china.

  • 1984

  • Honestly, China has its problems, we all know that. But we aren't free, just look at that stupid Patriot Act. We are controlled and monitored too, and just because we aren't executed for it doesn't mean we aren't still deemed as a "threat."

  • @thephoenix4ever wow. just wow. comments like that are mindblowing. you seriously compare our western freedom with what chinese ppl. have to endure? ppl. who get locked away for decades or are even being executed when simply asking questions, let alone speaking up.

my good sir, are you out of your mind?

  • @h0ktar No, I'm fine. But if you think America is "free," that is in no way the truth. No government can have freedom because government is there to control people. China was and still is a communist society, so they have less rights then we do in comparison. I didn't say we were being executed for it, I didn't necessarily say we were in as bad of a shape as China, but we should use these videos as a lesson for our country to not let something like this happen.

  • The only real difference between communism and capitalism is one is explicit and one is implicit. We are all controlled and fed re-packaged information in one way or another.

  • Selling secrets to the Chinese? isn't that treason?

  • IN china .we don't have right to talk about political even now....WE can't say yes what is it in camera!!!!!!!!!!

  • They said they don't know means they don't want to talk about it.We are already get to use to it.I think The students knew what it is .In china ,we can't talk about 1989 in public, especaIilly in front of camera. The only thing we can do is pretend to not knowing it.When i was young,my.mother always tells me don't go out talk political.we can 't get any turth in chinese internet.I always ask my parents what happened in 1989,but they told me very lillttle. But I always try my best to get the turth

  • The only country that can defeat China is China itself.

  • Isn't this episode, "tank man 7/8", teaching one the danger in having one ultimate authority? China IS a "one world" experimment, and look at what they have managed to do...erase out of history one of the most spontaneously "human" events ever recorded. It never happened for 2 billion people. Government is organized crime at its worst, because it has legitimacy that private criminal networks could never have. History of the U.S. is one of government gone viral, and they are modelling China! WTFU

  • I can only laugh at the idea that these companies are somehow "wrong" for "providing" these technologies to China... hello? am I the only one on this planet that can connect the dots? This is exactly what is expected of any company if it wishes to remain "competitive" in a local or global economy.

Understand that this is exactly what is going on in every "corner" of the planet by anyone in power; be it a group of power elite or whatever. The very nature of power dictates this behavior.

  • @Thelonelyshepherd1 of course they are 'wrong'. They sold out that journalist and got him 10 years in jail. Thye directly cooperate with the chinese police, they are in fact working for them-that is "WRONG" . What does Cisco say in the video, !we just make the stuff how they use it is up to them" how disengenous

  • One student says: "It's a piece of artwork" rofl

  • OMG...FUCK YAHOO!

  • pity china ,

  • The sad thing is the cleverest kids know everything and pretend know nothing, then you guys measure their cleverness based on your own intelligence and make a not so clever conclusion.

  • University students...how stupid can they get?!! perhaps...most of them were not born yet or were very young children during 1989!! Still, as a Chinese...you MUST know your history!! Very dissapointing..what was the massacre for? They killed many students and civilians who had no weapons whatsoever...and the outcome are these dumbass preppies..who are soo DUH!???!! Deal with your karma ..China!

  • @rahya2008 they didn't know about it because the schools didn't teach about it because they're government wants to keep in power so they don't provoke them into a revolt...

  • Yahoo and Cisco are probably right now helping Washington how to create the 'Kill Switch'...

  • What moronic bullshit! If something goes against your values: Don't fucking do it!

  • this is weird, the statistics of youtube says that this video is very popular in china...

  • @nemesisre309 true, though, i'm wondering if youtube's statistics consider the amount of ppl. living in a country and compare them to the population of the other countries. like say, in my country there are just not even 10 million ppl. in china there are a billion. now if there are 10 hits from my country and 1000 hits from china, do they count it as equal, or do they compare hit by hit.

well, but actually, that still doesn't proof a point....whatever ;P, yeah, it really is strange.

  • @nemesisre309 do you know what a VPN is?

  • @phorton2m no, but mr google told me (virtual private network), I see what you mean with that :)

  • @nemesisre309 Some are able to get past the firewall.

  • @nemesisre309 look closer. this video has only 59655 views, which if all viewers where chinese then it's 0.004452779980228358% of the chinese population of 1339724852 people. and we all know all viewers here isn't chinese, but i'll pretend just to make the percentage higher, just for your comments sake.

  • @Devoti good observation, I ignored that detail

  • @nemesisre309 which was made after they where interviewed...

  • they knew what was going on in that pic. They choose not to say anything because it could fuck up them later on

  • anyone think jan wong is hot?

  • I am a very proud Chinese man and I feel disgusted by my own people....

  • Yahoo deserves to die and I hate that tabloid douce who takes advantage and makes up stories

  • The empty, meaningless bla-bla of those Google and Yahoo officials is just disgusting

  • This truly is a terrible world we live in

  • Yahoo - shame on you.

  • you know what scares me is that we in america are starting to be monitored, they do it all the time. I mean I guess its good in some ways but.... still.

  • ooo and as of now i will stop to use yahoo services. will move everything to google

  • Sadly money overrides all. While it is essntial, at what point does money become enough and your soul more important.

  • Comment removed

  • this 8 part documentary has made me learned more about my ancestor land. As a foreign chinese borned in far far away land and so as many millions that are like me, many dont know much about the history of oru ancestral land. your video has thought me as well as gave me a clear insight on one of the most important event in not only the history of the chinese people, of china or my mother land, but to the world. ur a herodinzzz414. thx mate.

  • .,they are actually acting weird after seeing the pictures...

  • SHOWING THOSE GUATANAMO POTOS TO AMERICAN HIGHSCHOOLS KIDS WOULD ELICIT SIMILAR RESPONSE.....

  • the united states can request personal information with a simple warrant, whats the difference?

  • 35000 INTERNET POLICE!! WTF! IMAGINE HOW MANY INTERNET FAGS AMERICA HAS MONITORING US RITENOW!! GOOGLE IS CONTROLLED BY THE NWO AND YAHOO IS ALSO!! THESE SUCKAZ.............CONTROLL FREAKS!!

  • That's capitalism for you. And communism too! :)

  • thumbs up if you're ashamed to be chinese

  • @bh3ader

THUMBS UP IF YOUR ASHAMED TO BE A AMERICAN IN A CREATED DEPRESSION!! OPPS I MEAN FALLEN ECONOMY!

  • The students are not lying. I would never have seen the tank man picture before I studied aboard. Never know the stories....

    This is very sad.

  • If the students told what it was, they would be dead

  • @flyingfuckjunk hey why would they be dead plz reply

  • This documentary was uploaded by a chinease from People's Republic of China and \its the most popular and most viewd in this coutnry but from over 100 million internet users how many saw this documentary? From 360.000 to 36.000 :(

  • WTF was that yahoo guy talking about? having no shame~ thinking that he still have done the right thing! Shameless~ Scums

  • the yahoo goolgle microsoft stof should go to martial court

  • GOOGLE'S OUT NOW!

    thank fuck

  • it's really sad how they don't know anything, or choose not to spread the word. I think no one has stepped up onto the field for the others to follow, so everyone is just held back and scared of the gov't finding out what they know about their country.

  • On another note the Shi Tao part confused me a bit, but to clarify for anyone else in summary:

1st. Chinese government sends all media outlets a message about not reporting anything related to Tiananmen Square, as not to cause a social unrest.

2nd. Shi Tao uses his private Yahoo! email to forward the message to an organization that believes in democracy for asia.

3rd. Chinese government gets wind of the message and immediately contacts Yahoo! who divulges the information.

    4th. Prison.

  • The basic idea of Capitalism is ok but the natural progression through the desire to maximize profits, and the fact that the politicians that make policies have special interests, vested or not, is WRONG! Like the kids in the video, the emerging generation is not aware of the implications of certain decisions made before them, and continue to lower the bar. Now outsourcing is taking away jobs from Americans and exploiting the people from other countries who are not protected for our comforts

  • Is there anything we in the uncensored internet can do to help fight censorship in the countries of dictatorship?

I can't believe yahoo did that. They could have just got the heck out of China like Google did. I'm not saying google are perfect, they're still supporting censorship in other countries, but when it came to cyber attacks on a person they put their foot down!

  • those student made me laugh.what a show

  • hahaha this is just brilliant. fucking hypocritical americans. always criticizing chinese human rights problem, and helping the devil at the same time.

  • 4:45 guy just got owned

  • Human Rights Now !

  • How tragic.

Yahoo and Cisco should be held accountable for these crimes against freedom of the press and truth.

  • Fuck them seriously.......

  • A common focus is always needed to unite people. Even without borders, people are divided by cultural differences, values, beliefs, language, politics and many more. But at least we see developed countries working towards it, also globalization will help in a way or so.

  • @Momboos yes, actually, even the top communist officers in china do not believe in socialism ideology, which have post a lot of damage to human history.

  • why cant all the borders of the world fall down...and instead of many political unties on oone planet...just have one....a peacefull one

  • foolish

  • @Jose04811 If only the world knew our thoughts of peace we wouldnt have problems.

  • @Jose04811

    That's a great ideal.

But it is impossible to make it happened.

  • You just have to believe that it's possible, even if it's unrealistic. Fight for it but don't expect that we'll have immediate results.

  • thats the worst idea ever

  • @Jose04811

Because humans are very susceptible to power intoxication.

  • @Jose04811 That is something I have been praying for... But that will never happen... One day, everyone will have to see that we cannot have someone like China in power... And maybe... Just maybe.... Tank man, Hero of all, will make all powers see how tank man (peace) vs tanks (war) resembles our world... Mybe eventually everyone will see how we ALL want peace instead of tanks.

  • @Jose04811 that would likely mean a world government and a few people in charge of many.....lets not.

  • @klasco1991 i was going for peacefull anarchy

  • @Jose04811 Fair enough but then you have the problem of people gathering in societies where some are bigger than others etc and trying to dominate each other. People abuse power. Balance is key, Government has a role but we must make sure it's balanced and has limits. U cant trust government or people. In Anarchy people form groups, not all people are good. China is unbalanced the government has more power than the people.

  • @Jose04811 Yeah let's not. Starry eyed idealists like you will be the end of us all. Systems become corrupt, which is why the duke of Zhou put forward the concept of the "mandate of heaven". How do you propose to overthrow a CORRUPT FASCISTIC world government if it where to degenerate into such a thing? Even the zhou empire itself eventually succumbed to that problem btw, and it's founders wrote the I Ching...

  • @Jose04811 Thats what hitler tried to do.

  • @Jose04811

Because to many humans are fucked up.

  • @Jose04811

    That was rhetorical, right?

  • @lardhat in a way

  • @Jose04811 you're being idealistic. Lennon imagined it in the 70s, nothing's changed.

  • @Jose04811 I like your way of thinking. But all a peaceful society would be an invitation for violent people to make money. Unless you have a system like the taliban where people are actually scared of "The Law" and and its enforcers.

  • @Jose04811 because of all the different cultures, traditions, religions etc.... i cant see americans and iranians sharing land with each other any time soon

  • @Jose04811 basic human nature

  • @Jose04811 sounds good, but with governments like china and north korea, and terrorists who can never be pleased, i fear that that will never happen.

  • @Jose04811 Would be nice man, probably it will happen when people put aside petty differences, prujuidences, and etc....

  • @Jose04811 that would be a bad idea , remember their are fascists who beleive in world take over :: leader > followers > revolution. its sounds stupid but theirs always unfourntantantly the possiblity

  • @Jose04811 Thats to Fanatical

  • @186713 200 years ago, people would have thought showing your ankles was to fanatical let alone most of your leggs...nothing is to fanatical, society becomes more and more leniet on what we call acceptable

  • @Jose04811 your thinking of the NWO (new world order) .. that is far worse than the separations of today ..

  • @Jose04811 The risk with that is that if the "world goverment" decide censorship like China, then there will be no place on earth where someone can speak freely about that.

  • @Jose04811 That's a beautiful dream. Too bad dreaming is for sleepers. :/

  • @Jose04811 Well thats called a new world order. If we can't get right free, democratic order in one country. How in gods name could we get the whole world to go along with it, and more over. How could we keep people from destroying our new world system, we would need a massive, overwhelming. police force. And all that power, in the hands of Humans... Psshh.. "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely." Were not capable of such things.. On paper, yeah.. In reallity. Nope.

  • @Jose04811 I don't think that would work, large scale revolt would spring up because the upper class would shrink

  • @Jose04811 cause what you're suggesting is the wet dream of all globalists, and if you support globalization yourself, FUCK YOU!!!

  • @CKelaiditis so let me guess, your a democrat, liberal, who believe in free speech, and your saying fuck you to my beliefs, insulting me for what i believe...your no better than those who take away the rights of free me and pull them more away from the their natural right like life and liberty...

  • @Jose04811 Democrat yes, liberal no. If I was liberal I would support globalization, but I don't. If you feel insulted, I'm happy, this was precisely my intention!

  • @Jose04811 I agree :)

  • China sucks! Communist should DIE!

  • lol!!!!!

  • @freshfacehooker yea exactly, and the documentary doesn't even tell us who are those 3 young people, where they come from, whats their background. Are they even students? No. The documentary just uses the power of assumption; it knows we will assume what it wants us to assume.

  • overpopulation obviously is world's biggest problem.

The more people live in this world, the more problem we have for managing our lives.

Our freeedom is in the hands of others.

The haves do not want to lose what they have gathered, and the have nots want to gather.

It all boils down to this.

It is in service to others that we become free.

  • Dr. Bequelin of HRW (based at USA) has became a career china-basher.

  • stop spiliting China

    fucking western midia.

  • america your next, the u.s. government will do the same thing to you..only thing different is alot of us have guns.. and its coming to the next generation of dumb down americans!!!! hey american idols on you fucking retards!!!!!

  • @eromnoops1 damn im glad I wasnt born a retard, or taught like a retard while I have been alive.

  • Google and Yahoo search will not even allow Tank man image in China? What a bunch of brown nosers!

  • @IBMeddling its not brown nosing. BN is becoming buddies with your boss trying to get a pay raise. what these kids and people are doing is trying to stay alive.

all company's doing business in china must follow the extremely strict rules. Company's are..not trustworthy, they must protect an investment and we as people (prob doesnt matter where we are) are always expendable vs the almighty coin or dollar/yen.

its a scary time we live in.

  • wait til the pull this on us.

  • crap i'm using yahoo messanger as i watch this :O

  • It's like the whole deal with ww2 and appeasing Hitler. Theyveseen that the chinseese gvmnt is willing to go that far and now they don't want to provoke them again. By doing this it appears the people have won out when really the government ended up getting what they wanted all along

Besides. Thy did mention in an earlier part that there were gvmnt "minders" with them.

  • even if they know they still wont say

  • I highly doubt the students were unaware of the tank man. They're smart and knowingly admit to the knowledge of tank man to western cameras puts their own future at risk. Noticed that one of the boy did whisper 89, thus he knew about the context of this picture, but chose not to speak about it.

  • I have a friend (exchange student in shanghai) and I just sent her a video about the tank man. She showed it to her host mum and sister there, and they said "no...we have never seen or read anything like that" in a strange tone (she said), so ...yeah, maybe it's a story they don't want to remember....

  • @Chowdder All Chinese I know, know about Tian'anmen incident. However, none of them has ever seen the tankman. Because you cannot get detailed information in China. Also, they do not talk aout these thigns to people they are not close friends with. Because, inside China, some people spy on people to find out whether these people are pro or con towards the government.

  • @Chowdder that's exactly what i was thinking. How could the boy know when the picture was taken if he supposedly knew nothing about it at all? from what i could tell, either the boy isn't so good at obfuscating his ignorance or he was the only one who had an idea what the picture was about. I also found it odd that the program pointed out the whispering but then said that the students were completely clueless....

  • @Chowdder I agree that he obviously knew something about it, and simply decided to not speak up. It's impossible to conceive if the girls knew anything at all, or were maybe one step ahead of the boy and already concealing their knowledge. In my opinion the experiment should have been more vague involving yes or no answers.

  • @Chowdder If I lived in China, I wouldn't risk it.

  • @Chowdder That's possible. Consider, then, the Fabian dilemma: when do you act out? When do you disobey? If it's OK to know about Tianenmen Square 89 but not OK to speak about it, is it OK to let news reports and books about T.S. spread misinformation about it? Is it OK to use Google, Yahoo, etc. while those entities cooperate with the censorship? If not, what is to be done by the aware individual?

  • @11Jamie11 Don't lump in Google, which is cooperating only in that it is providing as much information to Chinese citizens as possible within the restrictions of Chinese authorities, with Yahoo and Cisco. Yahoo, which provided information TO Chinese authorities about somebody's email content leading to that person's imprisonment, and Cisco, which is helping Chinese police and law enforcement, are both ACTIVELY AIDING Chinese repression--Google is just trying to work around it.

  • @Chowdder Well, It's considered innapropriate to talk about at their homes, and teachers wouldn't dare speak, so where would they get it from? I only think that one boy knew about it because he had been told before by someone other than his family or friends or school.....

  • @Anime101z I'm sorry but that's not entirely true. I have friends and relatives native in Mainland China who are all around the ages of these student. They know about liu si (June 4th) and what happened (not in detail). They don't talk about it in public but they definitely bring the issue up once in a while in family discussion. Public discussion/forumns are not frequently carried out because these people want a future. So I wasn't surprise no body mentioned about the tank man to the cameras.

  • @Chowdder

    Isn't it obvious?

I can't blame them though. I'd probably do the same thing.

  • 再過個十年

    不會有人記得了

  • What else could we expect of this big companys? Don't tell me you're idiot enough to think they care about people.

Money is what they want. No matter if the chinese government is going to arest innocent people using their software. As long as they get payed they don't give a shi* :)

  • I always knew Yahoo was evil, but I didn't realize how blackly evil it truly is.

  • Are you serious? You are comparing a news worthy photo to schematics of something that could create mutually assured destruction? You are delusional!

  • there is lots of censorship in the uk a well

  • the students most likely knew about tank man but if they said something they would be introuble.

in communist countries your never allowed to speak badly of the government. Several of my family members went to jail for taking part in anticommunist movements when they were still in communist poland.

  • As a jewish person i greatly admire the chinese we have much in common, great empahsis on education, culture and history, but also great courage and a desire for freedom; china will be free one day

  • and money! money money money!!!!

  • Education??????? No education in china is free anymore!

  • Who is teaching the students at Bei Da? Did any of the Bei Da students of 1989 become teachers?
