  • i channel 4 6am it back in the day there were a few of us 6am, ps i didnt like tale spin prefered sawboss an crew

  • What about Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs? You didn't watch that?

  • @Fedaykin24, have a few obscure yet charming cartoon series that are excellent for younger children (teach ethics and such):

Anne of Green Gables: Animated Series, The imdb(dot)com/title/tt0283705 Basically a female Tom Sawyer based on some classic books

Arthur imdb(dot)com/title/tt0169414 lots of episodes on youtube

Miss BG imdb(dot)com/title/tt0463268 lots of episodes on youtube

Peep and the Big Wide World imdb(dot)com/title/tt0389668 lots of episodes on youtube

  • Gee i wonder if you can sense a theme here. lol. I'm not trying to brag or nothing. it just gratifies me greately to know that all these semi-obscure shows that i think are ace..or may be potentially ace have turned up all on the same video..well..2..

What are your thoughts on Dogtanian and the Muskahounds + Willy Fogg. The yanks didn't get them at all but i know they were pretty proliffic over here is blighty.

  • Prince Valient...HAVES. I'll admit alot of my purchases are because of that glorious bastard Zaranyzerak...i have to admit that i haven't watched alot of it yet..but i'm making my way through it all!

UYLSSES. I have it on dvd too...still..not watched it yet. lol. its yet again on my very long watch list of stuff i have aquired but not watched. That one wasn't due to the Z man though....but oddly enough i'd never seen it as a kid. I'm glad you mentioned Mysterious Cities of Gold.Haves that too ;)

  • I remember watching Legend of Prince Valiant from a videotape when I was young... Wish I could find all the episodes somewhere

  • I know it got a region 1 release not long ago on DVD so I would say that is your best chance.

  • @Fedaykin24 Yeah I'm pretty sure I could order it online but it would get expensive since the closest DVDs are in USA that I found and I live on the other side of the world :D

  • @zVissyVesiz, I picked up the complete series of "Prince Valiant" for $10 recently at a discount store. It's available online amazon(dot)com/dp/B003CS28V6 for $15. A 30 hour viewing bargain.

  • @zVissyVesiz They just released the whole series in one set recently

  • Dinky Di's is also a seriously underrated cartoon.......

  • In the US, U31 didnt appear in the New England area on TV, though we did have Mysterious Cities of Gold.

  • Just watched this all again, I can't believe we forgot about "Dungeons and Dragons", loved that as a kid, also Dogtanian and Willy Fogg.

Oh, as for these heavily franchised shows, have a look for one called "AirRaiders", marvel comics attempt to cash in on the whole toy line fad with their own creation, it had everything, Toys, comics, duvet covers, but the cartoon never made it to a pilot phase and so it all bombed, almost destroyed Marvel in the process.

  • Oh, and "Peter Pan and the Pirates" with Tim Curry voicing Hook. Loved that when I was younger, also the slightly similar "Pirates of Dark Water".

  • Nice, I've been wanting to check out Prince Valiant (which is out on DVD over here, and quite inexpensive too) and Ulysses 31 (which only appears to be available on DVD out your way...) for a while.

A few other obscure faves of mine.......ah, I'll make you wait a bit. You gave me an idea for a video! ;)

  • Ulysses 31 is a difficult one really considering its a Frech/Japanese co production. It has been released here in the UK but unfortunately that version cuts out the full beginning credits.

Oh and I challenge not to like the credits to Tale Spin lol.

  • Oh, Toxic Crusaders!

  • Oh yeah that's a good choice ... a tick for the list.

  • Oh, theres also that anime version of Pinocchio that the BBC used to air on Saturday mornings, Bravestar, Visionaries, Phantom 2079 David the Gnome, The Perishers, How our Body works, and one That I saw as a kid, but can't place a name on it, where the villain had an oversized Darth Vader helmet (like in Spaceballs)

  • Bravestar almost made the cut for this one but decided to go with Prince Valiant.

  • I think that was a wiser choice, Prince Valiant to me always felt it was trying to catch on the Robin Hood fad because of the Brian Adam's Esque theme song.

Theres some obscure 80's cartoons that didn't even make it over here, like the "Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa", created by one of the artists on the Ninja Turtles comics, which Konami even mada an arcade machine of.

  • Disney being racist you say? That's not the sort of show you'd expect from a company created by a Nazi sympathiser!!!

One obscure kids show that I remember on CITV that NOONE ever recalls was one called "Mr. Rossi" an Italian import show about a bumbling Mr. Bean type character. I just get blank looks whenever I bring it up.
