It's really a shame no game has ever been made like this since. Such an awesome soundtrack too. The Actraiser Symphony is one of the best orchestral remasterings of a video game soundtrack ever.
I remember playing this game, in fact, i still have it for the snes. Very good game. The angel parts get a little stupid at times, but all in all, a great game.
Na the Neo Geo had a better sound chip that was 15 channles instwad of the Snes 7 and every channel of the Neo Geo could use sampling the Neos sound chop was helped by a Z80 processor and also the huge cartriges allowed more sound effects and more samples. The Snes had the second best sound though it blew me away.
It's all about the composition, my friend. Yuzo Koshiro did an epic job with Actraiser.
Even though next gen systems have the processing power, they don't necessarily have the composers.
This SNES game has a cult following in terms of music. Same for Star Fox (first one). Let's not even talk about freak'n game boy sound quality yet Tetris music will live forever.
my sunday school teacher brought a tv and a snes with this game 5 years ago, she said that this game helps us learn how it's like to be god, as like a lesson.
This game won awards for it's sountrack- boasting Snes's unparalelled sony music chip in the hardware. This music was the best a home system could do at the time, and it still actually sounds good. The second level sounded like a real orchestra playing... and not some cheesy 8 bit sounding music
I love this game, it's in my top 5 favorite games of all time. I really wish they'd release the SNES sequel on the VC, and I really wish Square Enix would make a new ActRaiser. I'm so sick of Final Fantasy, they're beating all of their old horses to death but they completely ignore ActRaiser.

The side scrolling portion of this game really sucks and imo is the downfall of this game. The making of a civilzation is the coolest thing ever though. I had much fun with this game. Now actraiser 2 Reallly sucked.
The side scrolling part sucked. The civilization building was great. Thats why Actraiser 2 sucked, there was no civilization building, just the same old bad side scrolling.
Incredible game, even to this day. One of first games to really show off the SNES' abilities... the sound effects and music being the high point of the game.
Get a Wii and then go to the online shopping option-virtual console. Lots of SNES games including Zelda: Link to the Past. Need the class controller that plugs into the Wii-mote. Runs 800 Wii points or $8 but you can only buy 1000 points at a time...
BTW, I love this game, it combines elements of several game genres, including: adventure, a city simulation (like Sim City), action, strategy, and an RPG all rolled into one
This game brings back great memories of a time when video games were worthy of remembering. Its funny how I can sing the songs from old video games but not from new ones, there was a special and unique charm to video games during those days that is absent of games today.
There are great games these days, but they dont feel as unique as the ones years ago.
I loved the original actraiser. Its one of my all time favorite SNES of all time. The soundtrack on the game was the best I ever heard at that time. This was my favorite background music (fillmore),and it sounded epic. (Should have been the background music for final battle :)) Actraiser 2 was not as good play wise though. I agree with the remake of original Actraiser game idea!!!

In fact, the Neo-Geo was more similar to the Megadrive in the way it made sound. =)

This game brings back great memories of a time when video games were worthy of remembering. Its funny how I can sing the songs from old video games but not from new ones, there was a special and unique charm to video games during those days that is absent of games today.
There are great games these days, but they dont feel as unique as the ones years ago.

I loved the original actraiser. Its one of my all time favorite SNES of all time. The soundtrack on the game was the best I ever heard at that time. This was my favorite background music (fillmore),and it sounded epic. (Should have been the background music for final battle :)) Actraiser 2 was not as good play wise though. I agree with the remake of original Actraiser game idea!!!

Ah this was such a nice game along with the series that Enix made Soul Blazer,Act Raiser 2, Illusion of Gaia,etc.

I saw this game in my list of roms and thought i'd give it a shot. I had NO idea what to do so i googled the game and saw this vid and didn't know about having the palace over those circles. Anyways it's a really interest and good game.
