  • I liked the jump stop. :D

  • attention all roller bladers, roller blading is not a sport either get a hockey stck or a skateboard

  • @sjm8890 So why are you even bothering to look at the video?

  • @originalinlina Because I fucking hate rollerbladers, they are the most annoying pricks ever

  • @sjm8890 You hate rollerbladers, so you are watching and commenting on videos about rollerblading. How amusing.

  • @originalinlina you know what the hardest part of being a rollerblader is, telling your parents your gay

  • @sjm8890 Wow...unoriginal, prejudiced and homophobic all in one comment. Did you favorite Blink 182's 'All the Small Things' because it is an ode to both what is in your head and between your legs?

  • @originalinlina wow are all you rollerbladers tools

  • @sjm8890 You prejudicially hate rollerbladers, so you go on Youtube and seek out videos on rollerblading to watch and make silly comments on. You then get called out for it and claim that I am a tool for catching you out. Well little Mr. Troll, I hope I come across you on an ice rink one day. I will open ice check you so hard you will travel back in time. Yep, I don't just rollerblade, I also play hockey. Now go cry along to some My Chemical Romance.

  • that looks like a good way nose dive.

why not turn fully sideways and side step.

  • @LuminatX If you use the knee bend correctly and keep you weight back then you should not nose dive. A side step will not control your speed effectively and is more dangerous.

  • @originalinlina

I can stop perfectly fine going sideways, or at least just spin around to stop.

  • @LuminatX I would like to see that. Feel free to upload a video and post it as a response to this video.

  • @originalinlina

As soon as there isn't any snow on the ground I'll take a video.

  • looks dangerous?

  • @Afroknas Not really.

  • haha. Try doing that going faster.

  • @lelo819 It can be done at higher speeds but it will take a very long time to stop you. It is more of a speed control measure at high speeds, especially down hill. It is also easier to just use one foot at high speeds.

  • wtf is that lol

  • @tavomgl Ummmmm....a stepping stop, just as the title of the video implied.

  • The only problem is that if you where skating full speed and tried that against the boards in a hockey rink you would fall on your face and most likely break your neck.

  • @CarrotZ53 This is not intended as a technique to be used going full speed on a hockey rink when heading at the boards. See my hockey stop and power slide videos for more suitable techniques in those situations.

  • Thanks for the video. I'm trying to learn how to skate, and I really could have used some instruction on stopping earlier today. Preferably before I fell.

  • That looks too dumm, like a begginer... i prefer another style of braking....

  • @petrzabinator Well, keep doing your style and shut the fuck up!

  • I have those same skates!!!

  • hmm the camera is a little shaky when it comes to the critical point of the stop

  • @DinoSawz Sorry....need a new camera person.

  • Hey what is the size of the wheels you use on that video? Thanks!

  • @GuillermoAugustoBA I have a hi-lo frame with 76mm wheels on the front and 80mm wheels on the back.

  • lmao that is disgraceful and useless...put hard whells and do slides

  • @nikikouz Your comment is disgraceful and useless. Not everybody wants to destroy their wheels at every chance.

  • IMPORTANT!! I learned to stop this way when I was 8 (girl) with old-fashioned roller skates that were really just a metal base with wheels that you strapped to your sneaker. They HAD NO BRAKES and so I had to figure out ways to stop other than skinning my knees - a great incentive;) This knowledge, surprisingly, kicked in instinctively when I was driving my car and it slid on ice--pumping the break kept it from locking up. SO LEARN TO STOP THIS WAY! It can save your life.

  • @EloquentQuill cars have this great new thing now called anti lock brakes..

  • love them both

  • why not just do a hockey stop or power slide, yes i know it wears the wheels out quicker than that step thingy but not as much as a T-stop, but snow plow is good to, although there is away of slowing down which looks great, i will try and put up a video soon to show what it is as its hard to explain without showing, just let me know if you want me to

  • Power slides, hockey stops and t-stops will all generally create the same amount of wheel wear given they have to dispate the same amount of energy. So why not do them ILO a step stop...you answered your own question...they wear out your wheels. I would like to see your other method.

  • ok i will make a video on saturday and post it as soon as i can,

  • i will try and get one up asap, but it is just another version of a trick called "stroll"

  • @chrisabrahamsson I'd like to see that as well. I'm just browsing through the stopping styles and I'd like to see what you have. :D

  • This works good for getting around obstacles like other people at a rink, or sudden changes in your skate environment, like a kid running around, a cat or dog in your way suddenly. Anything that helps slow you down on inline skates is a great thing to atleast learn.

  • also you can just bring your front wheels close while back wheels are still far from each other. That you can use when you are going fast and you want to slow down or stop

  • I am not exactly sure what you mean, but it sounds like either an inverse swizzle or a snow plow. Both of those methods result in significantly more wheel wear than a stepping stop.

  • .....what!? i hope u never use it on real life... but if its useful for people...

  • Why would I never want to use this in real life? It is a very practical method for contolling your speed and stopping without destroying your wheels.

  • Thanks m8! Just been out to try this technique and its perfect! now i can stop, thanks!

  • how can you not fall?

I used to play with my roller blades

    and suddenly it wouldn't fit.

Now I'm using inline skates and I don't know how to stop!

    Help!!!

    I could try this out.

  • To not fall you keep your weight back and bend your knees when stepping. If you are too upright and don't use your knees enough you are going to fall forwards.

  • ohk..

    thx!

It's too late to try it today...

    It's gonna rain..

    Mayb next time..

Is it like breaking with ur roller blades only

    that it doesn't have breaks?

  • Yes, this is a method of braking when you don't have a heel brake on your skates or if you are in a situation that you cannot use your heel brake.

  • thank you..

  • it wun work,i rather do a t brake or powerslide to stop....you will fall if you speed too much...

  • The top speed you can do this stop from will depend on your skill. Some people may only be able to do this at 10km/h, others from 30km/h. If you cannot do it at the speed you are going, then trying a few slaloms first to wash off speed.

  • HOW THE HELL DO YOU NOT FALL DOWN!!!!

  • Keep your weight low and back.

  • Yeah, got my skates out the other day and they have no brakes!

  • The "stepping" motion while stopping like this - is quite similar to what you do if you accidentally jump onto grass while skating, you kindof start "running" so you don't get stuck in the grass and fall forwards.

    It feels similar to this.

  • hureeeeeeeeeensooooooooooooooooohn

  • Aaaahhh, I've learned something new again. I shall try that technique today

  • gracias muy bueno ahora tengo una nueva forma de frenar

  • Hello can I just ask how soft your wheels are here? I prefer the softer wheels with a lot of grip and yours appear to have that! good video btw, Never thoguth of using this method to stop

  • On these skates I have 85A wheels.

  • or you could jus do a turn stop...

  • That type of stop creates significant wheel wear. The stepping stop creates almost no wheel wear.

  • but u have no momentum going which is the point of other stops or turns.

  • Sorry, I don't understand...what do you mean I have no momentum. I am moving with significant speed and I have significant mass, therefore I have momentum.

  • when u stop, some hockey stops can give u momentum into another direction which can help u

  • Then it is not a stop...it is a turn.

  • ok then do a hockey stop and be able to stop ten times faster than this

  • Next time I am indoors and remember to take a camera.

  • ill try tht 2morrow down skatepark

  • Nice, I want to learn this for stopping on the street skates we do in London, too much T-stopping will just rape my wallet. Could you explain what exactly you're doing with your knees, where you're putting pressure etc.? Would help a lot.

  • The simplest way to explain it...it is like pushing in reverse. Instead of the push-glide for gaining speed, you step forwards onto an inside edge and absorb your speed with your knees. Best way to start learning to do it is rolling on one foot and continually stepping with the other until you stop. Then once you can do that on each foot, you combine it so both feet are stepping to a stop.

  • bbbbbaaaaaaaaaaaadddddddddddd

  • If you have a video of you doing it 'not bad', then please post a video response.

  • oo ur pretty skilled?..

  • couldn't do it with my roces black m12 but gheeez how i can i stop beside doing the damn spin to much speed and i'll spin face first to the ground

  • You need to use your knees for this one..it is the key to the stepping stop. Check my other vids for a few other methods.

  • plus also i have smaller wheels does that make a difference, u seem to stop rather easily with those wheels cited in above video. I just want to learn to stop damn it and to make the transition from goign a lil ffast to turning the tight corners of streets gheeez. and too not fall straight back sometimes that hurts my wrist for landing on it and my right ass cheek nastyyy

  • Smaller should make it easier. It just takes practice and soft knees.

  • hey man just to let you know there are way crazyer cess slides out there those are cool but look for a dre powell video or aggressive skating thats the ill shit there man

  • I am very aware of the proggression of Cess slides in aggressive skating. I have been skating longer than most pro aggressive skaters have been alive and I skate aggro a bit myself (but I cannot cess like those guys).

  • i think it did answer it: you won't learn to stop like that without falling a lot :)))

  • i like the last one (jump-stop) im gonna practise that one for a while now

  • If you keep your center of Gravity in the middle of skates keeping them straight it helps. And Bend your knee's a little bit.Don't lean to far foward or back. And thats About it besides the pushing method

  • If you falling a lot and struggling to kstae, you really are not ready to skate without a heel brake. I always reccomend that beginners use a heel brake as their primary stopping method. Once you learn to skate better, you can learn "no heel brake" methods of stopping while you still have a heel brake on. Once you have them down, you might be ready to skate without a heel brake.

  • kool

  • wouldnt this damage ur knees after a while

  • Not really. You are using the muscles in your legs to control the stopping, so you just need you work on strengthing those muscles.

  • Why is it a bad way to stop? It is the only method of stopping without heel brakes that does not generate significant wheel wear. What do yuo believe is a better way to stop?

  • Why is it "pretty bad"? What is wrong with it? Feel free to post a video response of you doing it pretty good.

  • What don't you get? How to do it. Why to do it.

  • i agree with u man

  • lol is that you stoping?

  • Stopped me!

  • looks quite difficult. I like it though. I'm not aggressive, I'm long distance/speed with the big-ass wheels.

  • What was so poor about it? Post a video response to show us how good you are at it!

  • an aggressive skater... not at alll

  • It's not aggressive skating. I don't like the look of this though.

  • Do I look like an agressice skater?

  • oOo =o.. n it doesn't wreck the wheels! *must learn how to* thx 4 the clip XD
