@detchuck Both title reigns were way too short. One of my top 2 WWF/WWE teams ever. The other being Tony Garea/Rick Martel. That would be a dream match.
@JeffTheFutureJaros Jeff, to answer your question, the WWF stopped using real artists songs around 87, Before that Hulk Hogans theme was "Eye of the tiger" by survivor and The fabulous Freebirds used " Still of the Night" by white snake. The copyright wars began around 87 when music artists were pissed off at their music being lifted for commercials, The tv show Miami Vice, and just about everyone else. So, the lawyers got involved and the WWF has to redo everyones themes.
@blackshogun77 Thanks a lot man, that's a question i've been wanting a thorough answer on for a while now, so I appreciate you taking the time to explain, I totally understand where the artists were coming from, if only Vince would've had the idea to get real bands to do themes exclusively for WWF like he does now.
Alot of people don't realize how popular the US Express were. At the first Wrestlemania the only match that got a bigger response from the crowd was the main event.
I liked Barry best as a face - he and Steamboat were the best technical wrestlers of their day. Benoit, in later years, was the same level. Flair and Bret imho were a slight notch below.
I agree. I liked Barry best as a face too, although its hard to deny that Barry's joining of the 4 Horsemen was one of the all time greatest heel turns. Bary could do it all in the ring wrestle, brawl, high flying or power moves. He was a great talent.
Barry, Beniot & David Von Erich are my 3 favorites of all time. I TOTALLY agree w/you about Barry bein THE most technical wrestler. Unfortunately, I feel he let himself go toward the end of his career. In his day though, NOBODY could out wrestle him.
The British Bulldogs and Hart Foundation were really good, too. It seems like long-lasting tag teams like this are a thing of the past.

I remember this tag team. Along with the Iron Shiek and Volkov, they were the best tag team at the time.

Rotunda & Windham are brother-in-laws in real life.

Interesting fact: 10 years earlier Barry's father Blackjack Mulligan was 1/2 of the WWF tag team champions. His manager Capt. Lou Albano.

When did WWF/E stop using real songs, like "Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen? Just curious.
JeffTheFutureJaros 2 years ago
@JeffTheFutureJaros Not long after this. Copyrights started to become a pain.

@DVROFFMAN Thanks for the info, I kind of figured that.

Because they had to pay for them.

WOW ! Windham was young and spry; he did that Sunset Flip off the top rope, I never appreciated how athletic these guys were when I was a kid.

Yes indeed! Windham & Rotundo were VERY popular. To this day, my all-time favorite wrestler is Barry Windham

Too bad it's not Gorilla Monsoon on play-by-play alongside Jesse Ventura here.

Jesse was best as color man to Gorilla or McMahon.
