Banks are reluctant to modify loans because they are trying to regain the money they lost because of the (government caused) economic crisis. Yes, the government caused the crisis when it forced banks to pay out bad loans that could not be paid back, so that banks had to raise rates to make up for the loss. I read this and I got the feeling this person doesnt own a home. Banks cant just sell your home. You would have had to not paid your mortgage for over 120 days and refuse to respond to their repeated calls, letters etc. Foreclosures have to go through legal proceedings and you get served to appear in court over the matter.

At the time yuou got that number I believe it would given that you could be one day past due and receive a prequalification. By the way the first policy on this didnt roll out until April 15th. They,the banks, rely on the emotional attachment that most,if not all, people put on their homes to not just walk away. Modifications : a lot of homewoners have adjustable rates that are about to reset and when they do, their payments will go up.The banks can be pro-active and modify these loans before it gets to that point. This is in part of what caused the down fall of the housing market. Homeowners have hardships such as : loss of income, disability, Illness,Loss of Job Reduced Income ,Failed Business ,Job Relocation Death of Spouse, Military Duty ,Medical Bills etc

The reason : modifications are denied when a modification is revewied ,because the Home owner still cannot afford to stay in their homes..In order to qualfy for a modification you must demostrate that after the modification you can make the payments..one of the excuses the banks were caliming that when they offered mods the HO still could not afford the payments..Obama knows the lingo and he got my point once he saw the video..and if you saw the video he responded to the question...

Its not your loan to modify, so why does your caring mean anything. If that security that held that loan that paid your pension, and some random person wanted to cut your pension, you'd probably not want them to make it worth less.
If the only payment the person can afford is the teaser rate, then they couldn't afford the loan in the first place. We need the cost of living to come down to match people's incomes. The price adjustments that foreclosures enable make this possible.

Show me the contract that said you could be guaranteed to refinance and that has been broken. People speculated, many made money at the beginning of the mania, now many are loosing money. I'm not sure if you realize this, but the only way you can lend money at below market rates for a short period of time is if later you are sure to get above market rates to compensate. AIG held more retirement and 401K accounts than actually home loans. If no one is living there you dont have to you simpoly finish the foreclosure place the house back on the market. Remember the bank is really only looking for the interest on the property because that is its profit. No they would not be more willing to do anything when they simply can take the house back. Banks are reluctant to modify loans because they are trying to regain the money they lost because of the (government caused) economic crisis. Yes, the government caused the crisis when it forced banks to pay out bad loans that could not be paid back, so that banks had to raise rates to make up for the loss. Don't blame the banks for this situation. It is the fault of the government and ACORN.

I read this and I got the feeling this person doesnt own a home. Banks cant just sell your home. You would have had to not paid your mortgage for over 120 days and refuse to respond to their repeated calls, letters etc. Foreclosures have to go through legal proceedings and you get served to appear in court over the matter.

At the time yuou got that number I believe it would given that you could be one day past due and receive a prequalification. By the way the first policy on this didnt roll out until April 15th. Imminent defualt means your acct is not past due so clearly you are making your payments also dependsing on your financial situation there is a chance you could get a pass.

listen,mortgages are simply contracts between TWO entities and they are based on the "at the time" appraised value of the property at hand. They,the banks, rely on the emotional attachment that most,if not all, people put on their homes to not just walk away. They,on the other hand see nothing wrong with walking away from a tanking value on one of their properties. Chase just walked away from a 4 billion dollar mortgage in New York cause to reappraised value simply wasn't there.

Modifications : a lot of homewoners have adjustable rates that are about to reset and when they do, their payments will go up.The banks can be pro-active and modify these loans before it gets to that point. This is in part of what caused the down fall of the housing market. Homeowners have hardships such as : loss of income, disability, Illness,Loss of Job Reduced Income ,Failed Business ,Job Relocation Death of Spouse, Military Duty ,Medical Bills etc

I agree, that standard should be applied to all. 2 (and more) wrongs don't make a right. The banks stupid enough to hold loans made to fools that couldn't pay should have been allowed to go belly up. This would have given other, smarter banks a chance to take their place. But instead, the they were made whole with our, and our childrens money.
In case you haven't noticed, I'm of the opinion that the foreclosures ARE THE CORRECTION to an unaffordable bubble market. They'e not the problem.

The reason : modifications are denied when a modification is revewied ,because the Home owner still cannot afford to stay in their homes..In order to qualfy for a modification you must demostrate that after the modification you can make the payments..one of the excuses the banks were caliming that when they offered mods the HO still could not afford the payments..Obama knows the lingo and he got my point once he saw the video..and if you saw the video he responded to the question...

Its not your loan to modify, so why does your caring mean anything. If that security that held that loan that paid your pension, and some random person wanted to cut your pension, you'd probably not want them to make it worth less.
If the only payment the person can afford is the teaser rate, then they couldn't afford the loan in the first place. We need the cost of living to come down to match people's incomes. The price adjustments that foreclosures enable make this possible.

No the banks have just as much responsibilty as the the homeowner..it wasn't about a teaser rate, it was about what the banks on purpose pushed to make money on wallstreet and led the HO to believe he or she could refinance there home after the so called teaser rate expired..It was so big of a problem the government bailed the banks out and left the homeowner to defend for themselves...understand this was done enmasse, not isolated cases....to black and white alike...

Show me the contract that said you could be guaranteed to refinance and that has been broken. People speculated, many made money at the beginning of the mania, now many are loosing money. I'm not sure if you realize this, but the only way you can lend money at below market rates for a short period of time is if later you are sure to get above market rates to compensate. lets see pulling the troops out of iraq in 6 months. He either didn't do that because he is a liar or the boys in the pentagon sat him down in the big boy chair and slapped some sense into him. Also before he was elected. He rejected the iraq surge because he said adding more troops would make violence go up. When it later lowered violence drastically, he OPENLY LIED and said he knew all along adding troops who were oh so professional would help the situation. Fuckin liar.

Obama won because people were blinded by hatred towards bush plain and simple. They were blinded to the fact that in Obama's entire political career he has accomplished nothing. From community activist to State senator, to congressman, to president he accomplished nothing. Not one significant piece of legislation. The bill won't pass because everyone who isn't a either an open socialist or a minority who thinks obama is their brown messiah hates it.

Also did you also know at the time Freddie and Fannie were prohibited from taking sub prime loans which they really didnt take because they didnt meet their lending qualifications. But of course to know that you would actually have to do a little research. In that research you would see the biggest bansk to fail were PRIVATE banks...such as Country Wide, Freddie and Fannie owned less than a third of the sib prime loans.
