@kyklops Watson didnt have internet access in this round. In his 4 terabytes of memory the stored all of wikipedias text and a few encyclopedias but he didnt have internet during the match.
Watson was given a handicap because the answers were inputted in his system and could notify the Jeopardy system the first millisecond that he knew the answer and answering was allowed and the human contestants had to wait until the answer was finished before they could ring in. Notice Jennings tapping his buzzer repeatedly.
@MrNiceGuy1422000 The humans were notified by a light, which took them tenths of a second to perceive. Watson was notified by an electronic signal and could activate the buzzer within about eight milliseconds. The humans tried to compensate for the perception delay by anticipating the light, but the variation in the anticipation time was generally too great to fall within Watson's response time. Watson did not operate to anticipate the notification signal. [source: wiki]
@spyderpilotuser Gerald Tesauro, one of the IBM researchers who worked on Watson, explained that Watson's wagers were based on its confidence level for the category and a complex regression model called the Game State Evaluator. (source: Wikipedia)
why did watson start fuckin up consistently towards the end of the 1st round when it was kicking ass in the begging? like if a "stop kickin ass" switch was pressed? hmm....just wondering.
At 12:16, is the "19-teens" really the correct answer? Sure, we know what he means, but is it technically correct since there is the year 1910, 1911, 1912, and those aren't teen numbers? Does it mean we are now in the 20teens, or 2010's?
A little ironic that one of the first advanced AI's is named after IBM's first president, who made business with the Nazis by leasing them punch card calculators that helped them to manage the massive amount of data in their concentration camps.
Tickets aren't needed for this "Event", a black hole's boundary from which matter can't escape." Watson What is Event Horizon. (applause) (applause)
"Within thirty years, we will have the technological means to create superhuman intelligence. Shortly thereafter, the human era will be ended"? Waton (menacingly, with blinking red eyes): What is the Technological Singularity? (applause) ... (silence) ...
The fact that he got three daily doubles, completely randomly, and two as a first choice in the category is sooo suspicious. I love the amounts he wagers.
@UdonBullets It's not *completely* random. Watson got a lot more questions right than the other two and, thus, more opportunity to pick daily doubles.
Fuck Watson, he might answer questions fast but lets see the fucker dodge a bucket of water!!!
