@TheMonsterReport I have heard there are reports of whoops in this area at night. i have not heard any myself though. Plenty of woodknocking last Spring and Summer.
Ya Jim, everything is pretty dead at least here. Redchun was out the other day though and has a great woodknock you can here pretty well on his last video. At least in PA, sounds like one squatch wasn't lying low----lol.
Snow sounds like a bear to walk in. I generally follow the direction of those snaps. Those kinds of snaps can possibly be caused by big boy catching the small trees with their shoulders (wide as hell), typically cross trail. No different than you walking through branches and snapping them. Good vid, I enjoyed it.
@BFResearchSE Thanks Alex. The snow does make hiking a lil harder. It makes your footsteps sooo loud as well. If I find several snaps I do try and figure out a possible path to follow.
I was wondering if it would pay to go off trail 25-50 ft if possibe, where it looks down on traill and see if there are any sighting areas where they watch you? prints and such !
Really nice area! I love the pines! I hope you guys checked those thick pines! Has there been sightings in this area? Those may be the areas you want to check, the ones you don`t want to go into.Take some young teenager with you and put him in there!
Yeah I routinely check the pines because I think it provides good cover for them. Coincidentally, right across the trail from there about 40 ft is where I had my sighting.
glad to see you got out in the field its been sooo cold

I was out this weekend as well. Nothing very interesting to report. Just deer turkey and grouse sign.
