Those real plants are cool and the sand rock mix is cool. In the beg. it always takes some time getting the right fish mix. Keep up the great work! Yah bless you.
The tank was $650 and the stand was under $400.00 alone. That doesn't include the gravel, driftwood, live plants, Rena XP2 and XP3 filters, Heater, all the chemicals and stuff needed to keep those fish alive, plus the fish and the continuous weekly expenses to keep everything going. But this is an old video. Look at my new one. You'll get an idea of where I'm at with this.
Is it worth it though? You bet! I'm just glad I can barely afford my habit, I mean hobby.
It's a 384 watt, 72" T5 HO lamp. My plants were going nowhere and dying quick with the standard, run-of-the-mill lamp that comes with aquariums. It wasn't until I looked up aquaculture that I realized I needed a high output lamp if I wanted to continue to have live plants. These lamps are expensive but you can find a good deal in Craigslist or even eBay.
As for the angels, it's amazing how quickly they grow. They were about 2/3 smaller when I bought them about 3 or so months ago.
Looking good! I've got no real plants in mine now...cichlids annihilated them! :( Will be putting a few vids up soon of the individual fish and how much they've grown since the last vids.
Your Red-Tailed Shark is gorgeous.....

what was the blue fish on the left at :21
darphinparis 1 year ago
@darphinparis It was a blue cichlid. I got rid of all my cichlids about a month after since they were too aggressive for my community tank.

no wonder the caeruleus look so stressed and hiding by the heaters etc.

I donated my cichlids long ago. The only cichlids I have left are Bolivian Rams and, of-course, the Angels. My tank is very different now.

That first Angel with the black and white striped fins is impressive.
What kind of lighting do you have? Those plants are doing rather well.
