I have had this album for over 10 years. there isn't a song on there that I don't love. She has an absolutely incredible voice and such a unique sound.
wow!! i didnt think she could sing like that. i LOVE her voice in dragonette, because it's soft and incredibly melodious, especially on the new album,so i thought the new album drew on some of her solo stuff.
but in actuality she sounds completely different on her solo stuff!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. Jesus her voice just makes me want to sing every single song she puts out. No kidding, it's one of the ONLY non-mixed CD's i can listen to on repeat and have in my car playing over and over for days.
Her voice is possibly the best I have ever heard, apart from Hayley Williams. They're pretty close in awesomeness.
I also think its sweet how Dragonette is an innuendo band, its fun and doesn't nessicarily reflect the feelings of Martina herself. I can't see her as the promiscuous girl-kisser she is in Dragonette. But it's so fun! and she is gorgeous!
I've got to agree with you there. Her voice is awsome. I don't know what the feelings of Martina Sorbara is in Dragonette. She was a great Indie artist, though, and i miss that. Her voice was certainly showcased in that venue. It isn't so much in pop, in my opinion, but to each their own. I just wish she had continued in the style in which she started. if you had seen her in person, you'd understand. She was truly great. Cheers!
Her voice is extraordinary! It's impossible to think she's the lead singer of a band whose image is all about sex and double entendres. She looks a lot like my friend Sadie when her hair is down like in this photo :)
So true. She's going to regret that move one day, I think. There's fame, and there's artistry. To be able to walk away from artistry so easily stuns me. This song is perfection. I would have loved to hear a lot more by THIS artist.
It is unforutnate, indeed. However, in this case I have to wonder. She comes from an affluent family, so I have ot conclude sh'es after fame. She does pop well, though. As Drgaonette, she does pop well. It's just not the same and not true to her roots.
You do have a great point. She does come from an affluent family. I think she just naturally shifted into, dare I say it, happier music . In an interview they asked her about musical move. She said that "... she was tired to being or acting depressed, she could no longer find a blunt end to gouge her heart out ." After meeting Dan things changed too. I think she is being true to her "roots". I don't think a/any beautiful, interesting, complicated woman can be defined by 1 thing they have done.
it doesn't have to be so absolute. maybe she is not after fame and she is simply exploring different musical avenues. if you compare the two dragonette LPs they are both quiet different from one another. especially the new one, it has a lot more meat and it seems more personal. it shows growth, showing that she is just exploring a different part of herself yet again. so just because she is dabbling in pop and electro music doesn't mean she is after fame. tastes change.
ty beanie babies. ^.^ it's hard to find her music on the internet. i even had to order her cd via mail ! i really love the song 'this ship' ! well, and all the others. ^O^

If you want to get some energy, listen to Martina in Dragonette. If you want to enjoy listening to music on your own, listen to Martina alone.

Sometimes artistry doesn't pay the bills. How unfortunate.
