1 of 2 How can you claim it was the worst gun in WWII? Please explain what the problems were with this gun to give it such a reputation? Most negative claims against the Carcano arose AFTER the JFK assassination, by those who felt it was a conspiracy. This rifle (designed in 1891) is very accurate, the 6.5 round is very powerful (significantly more powerful than the modern .223) and the rifles are fool proof.
2 of 2 Fifty years after it was designed, it was still a decent rifle in WWII. I assure you that there would not be anyone outside of easy striking distance within 650 yards against a decent soldier carrying this rifle.
The real name of this rifle is mod. 91! I am Italian and I live 30 Km near weapons of TERNI. I think very lucky to have some specimens. When american troops landed in italy they took thousands of Italian rifle because they were lighter and the bullet was very faster!

Just to let everyone know for so long everyone says the ammo is hard to find. It's actually really easy and plentyfull. Hornady makes it, Wolf makes it, Sellior and Bellot make it, and you can get Hornady online for 20 bucks a box, Norma is making it again for around 38 a box. The clips are all over the place to online. Cheap to buy and very fun to shoot. As this guy shows us. I have a few cavalry carbines and two 91/41s and they are all accurate out to 500 yards open site in a 7 inch area.
Yeah but it is also expensive ($15+), while 7.62x54R or 8mm Mauser can be bought surplus for around $5 dollars a box, but the carcano is still a great rifle!
Easily the best gun based clip I've seen on youtube so far. Great detail of the rifle, with relevant performance information and comparative data, and clear footage of the shots being fired. A top quality clip all round.

Fucile modello 1891; original 91
Moschetto modello 1891; 91cav
Moschetto modello 1891 per truppe speciali; 91ts
from the official adopting acts

no. il 91 is not rifle is a musket. here in italy we classify as. There are various models of musket;
the long 91 is called: 91 fanteria (91 infantry)
the short 91 is called: 91 cavalleria (91cavalry)
the short 91 for special troops is called: 91 Truppe Speciali (91 special troops)
sbirroetrusco 2 years ago
the standard 91 (a gun 128 cm long can't be classified as musket by the way) and by the way this is the text of the adopting act
where is classified as fucile (rifle) and not as moschetto(musket) as the 91 cav or 91 ts
