  • Charlie says : Even I liked it, dude you're over thinking the product because of the process Mr Leigh is Mr Leigh, your expectations should be an unimportant factor of your review. The Film is simple and beautiful unlike American cheese, which has a thousand additives and is disgusting!

  • the anxiety the audience is made to feel for her innocent- good nature...she a childlike figure who we both love and whos vulnerablitly we feel through her goodness, and when she meets PSycho-driving uptight instructorman that anxiety mounts ....amazing film

  • It got raving reviews...

I don't get it... nothing happened in it. The girl is unrealistically happy... and just fucking annoying to be honest.

She starts taking driving lessons with a polar opposite miserable git of an instructor.

She finds a boy friend and the driving instructor gets very angry and jealous.

    She stops having driving lessons.

    The end...

Unfunny dull and annoyingly predictive innuendo dialogue.

    FUCKING SHIIIIT!

  • This is Bullshit. Movie not made for you. Nuff said.

  • @ooooneeee

Film was made for everyone, it's just piss poor. Nuff said.

  • agree with derek about the school job being perfect because it fits in with her "childlike" but in a good way personality. she may seem flippant and off the wall to some but to me the character she played brought a smile to my face and a ray of sunlight to my heart. yes I am a male poppy thank god :).

  • ah fella yor funny u shud do mor of thees

  • that being said, i do enjoy most of your reviews, good job and keep doing your thing man.

  • big miss on your review. what you don't understand is that while she is reluctant to take things seriously, she unders the gravity of each situation she is in. her job is the perfect fit for her, working with young children. they aren't trying to ground her at all. it seems like the movie got you thinking, but you aren't interpreting it on the level it's meant to be viewed on.

  • Thanks for your comment!

It's always hard to go back and discuss a movie I saw a long time ago, but here goes...

The only thing that seemed to "matter" to poppy was the children... there's one scene where Poppy demonstrates REAL frustration and breaks out of her elusiveness and that's when she's talking about bullying.

No on the other situations... she may be under the gravity but she feels oblivious to the emotions of people around her.

It's fun for a while but dreadfully annoying...

  • you must be an insensitive creep if nothing in this film moves you.

  • Tbh, I think you were far too generous with your review. Me and a group of about 10 other people have a film club going. Each week we watch something different and discuss it afterwards. Usually we don't all agree which makes things quite interesting until we get to Happy-Go-Lucky.

We, unanimously disliked this filming. As an audience we felt alienated by Poppy and the film forgot to give us a plot which left us just wishing the film would hurry up and be over more than anything. 2/10

  • @PinballTV That's how life feels most of the time, isn't it?

  • @gruftgespenst Ha ha, you may well be right!

  • The dark side you speak of,is it the part when poppy and her friends, are talking about how the parents of there students, let them play video games instead of taking them out?.

can you explain the dark side,in a more in depth way?.

  • It's been a while since I've seen the movie... so this may not be 100% accurate.

Yeah there's a spark of that dark side when she talks about the parents and bullying.

Also in the way she keeps her flatmate kind of at arms length after she encounters that homeless man. Her friend asks her about where she's been and Poppy wouldn't tell her.

  • Good plot, dude. A good character amounts to nothing if what they're doing is boring the shit out of you.

  • i thought your review was pretty considered and intelligent. i also like your humor. you seem to have something here -definitely keep at it.

  • more like a thumb-sideways.

  • I deleted my account but it didnt work and then pleaded for them to reinstate it and (by doing some favors) they reactivated it. Thanks for the suggestion even though it didnt go so well (like your review).

This movie and I have a special bond especially since they are releasing the DVD on my birthday. Also, I realized I'm not that upset over your review because I'm sure you loved Slumdog Millionaire like all the other millions of delusional people and now I know what category you fall under.

  • Huh... that's the last time I take YouTube advice from Rufus. After a couple banana daiquiris he can be a little off-putting. He assures me that his humor is just dry and sardonic but just don't get it.

Funny story - but I haven't seen Slumdog.

And I didd give it 5.5/10 - that is still technically a thumbs up.

  • are you kidding me? this movie was genius. i don't know why i gave you 5 stars in the beginning of the video. possibly because someone is actually talking about this amazing movie. whatever. everyone is entitled to their opinions.

i seriously think she deserved an oscar nomination and even the win. to each their own i suppose.

(change my 5 star rating to a 2. thanks.)

  • I have put in a request with the YouTube staff to change your 5 star rating into a 2 star rating. So far I have yet to receive an answer, but I'm sure the request will be granted soon.

Meanwhile, I read that you can hurry the process along by simply deleting your YouTube account. Give it a try and tell me how it goes!

Amazing movie? Not really. After around 3 months, there's not really anything I still took from the movie. It was just a bunch of sitcom esque situations stringed together ...

  • Do you have a feud with MySpace? Did I miss something?

  • Well can we all agree that Tom is the modern day anti-christ?

I made a good offer to Tom to buy MySpace... but he didn't go wtih it. Since when was four chickens considered a "lowball" offer.

  • That girl drove me crazy. She had a screw loose. Nobody reacts happily to every single moment in the day....like she did. I could not take anymore of this film, so I left the theater within 20 minutes. I've done that twice in my life. Also with Airplane. Just too stupid to watch.
