  • do you guys know they originally want Bill Murray as Batman!

  • batman doing some night patroling.

  • The guitar-like instrument which kicks-in at 0:30 gives me the chills to this day. Beautiful music, entrancing visuals (the snow makes it extra perfect). Bravo Tim Burton!

  • @intheTea04 lol and its nothign to it its just a string on a guitar. lol i love it too.

  • As a kid I watched this movie as if it was a daily requirement. I loved this scene for the visuals, music, acting, and everything in between. I love Bale as Batman but there's such a special feeling with Keaton as Batman that makes me wish he played Batman in other dark movies. I would of loved to have Keaton's Batman interact with a Robin.

  • I also feel that this is the most underrated of all the Batman movies. But still, I found it to be pretty damn awesome.

  • The music really fills the disturbing mood and atmosphere that is coincided with the character Batman's presence in the movie. I think that without Michael Keaton playing Batman, I would have disliked it infinitely. But I frigging love it!

  • Late 2am cruises around town in this would be Cool.

  • I still have the Batman shirt i got when this movie came out. now thats Vintage!

  • @batmanlooksgood I also got a vintage shirt from 1986 won on a lottery at the premier!

  • @labonka Nice!

  • Oh I can't believe I found this scene...This is my all time favourite Batman Scene! When I was a child, I tuned it back several times...Absolutaley brilliant!

  • Magnificent. This is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Batman Returns is my favorite Batman movie. It has the operatic nature that Batman needs, in order to make sense on film. It's so moody, and character driven. This scene shows off some of those attributes. Just a superb film.

  • #OMG This is a fantastic scene. I was around two years old when I saw this movie the first time. This and Batman, are my childhood movies.

  • And people bitch about Bale using the Batvoice when talking to Lucius in TDK? KEATON'S BATMAN JUST DID IT WITH ALFRED HERE!

  • right they did it before so why is everybody complaining about bales voice.

  • Ive noticed that bale isnt the only batman who changes his voice keaton does it too.

  • Keaton and Kilmer did it before Bale did

  • I just love these scene it gives me chills everytime the music, the atmosphere, the snow in gotham ,the music and the way batman looks at the penguin everything is just perfect love it.

  • No matter what people say about Michael Keaton not being "Physically" similar to Bruce Wayne, one can't deny he looks as BATMAN as ever here. The mask, the eyes, the mouth, the car, the music, the mood -- everything is right.

  • I agree. Ever since I was a child, this has been one of my favorite scenes. I bought a Starlog magazine when this was coming out & it had an exclusive fold out poster from the conceptual painting/art of the Penguin sitting in the Hall of Records. I like the feel of this movie more so than any of the others. The mood was perfect. Gotham in the snowfall is a perfect match and it's a nice scene to see the Batmobile whirring quietly in a slow pace.

  • Damn cool!

  • If your logic were correct then why would the police force allow Batman [in the Dark Kinight] to confront the Joker in the interview room of the police headquarters? The only times the police was after Batman was because they suspected him of committing a crime.... just like in Batman Returns when the police turned on Batman when they suspected Batman of pushing the princess off the rooftop. So much for the "obvious".

  • in TDK the MCU understands him to a degree and works with him in many scenes unofficially to the public. (in nolans) only MCU deals with batman (that's why the batsymbol was realistic in this). in the interview MCU were uncomfortable and they even showed it but Jim felt he was the only one who could intimidate joker to find dent. lol you guys can thumbs down me but i just perfer nolans and i love both universes, that's all. hell batman kills in burtons and he DOES get away with it.

  • I still disagree. In TDK he wasn't wanted UNTIL Joker demand Batman to reveal himself [to save lives], which makes sense seeing Bruce Wayne would no longer be an anonymous contributor dressed as a bat IF he revealed the truth to the general public. It sounds like you are confusing TDK with Batman Begins, although in Burton's 1989 Batman things were VERY similar.... until the public learned he was a contributor and he was only trying to protect the citizens of Gotham. Makes sense to me.

  • yes your right and also not not really. we still see that ignorance from the people but when he establishes himself in TDK they lash out when he doesn't turn himself in. they blame him for all their misery. yes they were very similair between the two films. i think it's just the fact that he gets away with murder in burtons. i don't know i grew up with it and loved it none the less.

  • But in TDK Batman wasn't the fully established "detective" we know him as. Keep in mind, in majority of TDK Gordon wasn't even the commissioner. Batman is still in his earlier stages.... there is SO much to the Batman character and the general story that is missing and I'm sure Nolan won't wrap up the Batman story with many loopholes.

  • agreed, nolan wants an air tight sequel which will be hard because the third movie in almost everything is a flop. let's hope he can entertain and still make it air tight. i'm not going to hold my breath for him to make a saga. that's not fair as a director to be held and expected to create another masterpiece trilogy.

  • And also.... says who in Nolan's 3rd Batman film the Batman character won't become an established "detective" that can be trusted among the general public of Gotham? Keep in mind the Batman character in TDK wasn't fully established just yet. In Nolan's view, his version of Batman is suppose to be the earlier years of the Batman character. Of course it will get to the point Batman will get trusted by the general public whether it will be Nolan's 3rd Batman film or something beyond that.

  • no your right, he'll be that detective in the end because we see the progress to becoming a monster in TDK and at the end he appears to the public as the villain no better than joker. when he's finally established with robin he'll be the true symbol of hope.

  • I agree with you. Nolan portrayed Batman in TDK as a villain.... he cost the city a lot of money in property damage and he seemed responsible for the deaths of many people (unintentionally). In the end of the film it felt like Batman did the opposite of what he intended to unlike in Burton's films Batman was more of a hero with little flaws and was more organized.

  • that's what i love the most is that we get a real life batman as this is how we would react. in the comics it took him forever to get the respect/ trust (which isn't much trust) that he has. but in this everyone hates and fears him and now they all don't even call him doing good deeds since he covered for dent. the movie was just really "deep" i sappose with alot of reflection on society when it came to what the joker said. "they'll cast you out". by far the smartest character in the movie.

  • The Batmobile Michael Keaton drives...: Ain't she a beauty?: :) .

  • Yes-it's still the best in my opinion, but the tumbler grew on me in TDK thanks to the ingenious batpod inclusion...

  • Agreed.: :) .

  • Love this scene.

  • Me, too.; The Keaton Batmobile will always have a spot in my heart...: I even have a picture of her as the back-ground on my lap-top, I love her, so much.: :) .

  • I agree, man nothing beats the the 1st 2 movies. I love the feel those 2 movies have and it's so artistic.

  • Terrific scene! The Dark Knight cruisin' the streets in his ride, walking his beat, just like a cop. It's cool as Keaton makes his voice gravely when he talks in his Batman persona.
