  • You can listen to band after band perform live and they may sound well but the tightness of this band is right in line with the tightness of some James Brown type stuff, this is sooooooo crisp!!!!! I saw them perform in "94" and I couldn't believe that guys that had been apart so long could bring it back so nice!!

  • Jerome where's my mirror?

  • The coolest band ever.

  • @heinie Right, the original Time lineup in particular

  • 7:36 girl on the left side of the screen... HALLE BERRY!!!! OMG! HOW COOL IS THAT?

  • whats the name of the first song?????

  • @heavenshearts81 It's called "Oak Tree".

  • @heavenshearts81 Oaktree!

  • @heavenshearts81 The Oak Tree off Morris Day's 1st solo album...His 2nd album was tight as well.

  • @MrPoisonhands Yep, it was the Fall of 1985!

  • @seand67 One of my top 3 lifetime concerts, managed to go to one of the 2 only ever UK show's...The Time are tiiiiiight!!!

  • awesome !!!

  • his tan is beautiful

  • i gave up comparing MD 2 Prince. THEY are both the best in what they do, and this differs a lot. Prince's approach to music is way different 2 terry and Jimmy, or let alone morris. Let's be honest, the best stuff comes out, when they all throw it 2gether like they did on Pandemonium. and without prince's songs on the first 2 albums, it would never be that...TIMEless feel 2 those appearances. it goes like hand in glove, so why discuss that? let's see what that new album brings! 2011-30 years :)

  • @zarcon85 between Morris and Prince are a lot of good ideas for "The Timne". For instance, Prince played all the instruments on 777-9311. So they've worked together. Going to see Prince this Sunday.

  • @afrosensuous i'm going next week over here in germany...i even bought a pair of stacy adams to wear 'em there...since i have to 'walk' them in, they are kinda glued 2 my feet for a week now. everybody stares at me, like i came from another planet. oh and, since there are demos like:'cloreen bacon skin', where prince explains it was done with morris on drums while doing sessions 4 'what time is it', i guess, 7779311 is morris on drums, prince doing everything else.

  • @zarcon85 actually,777-9311 was a Linn drum loop programmed by David Garibaldi(Tower of Power drummer).I know.I'm a drummer who nearly broke his arm learning it back in the day!

  • @mrthundaboots was thatt Garibaldi? it sounded like he spent 3 yrs on it, and then, he TRIPED & DROPPED the Linn drum once he got it perfect I was one of them stupid drummers that actually wrote it out! I heard Dennis Chambers play it on a sound check! Greatest groove ever!

  • @afrosensuous Morris Day plays the drums, sings and acts. Morris Day made the other half of the movie 'Purple Rain." Does Prince like to give credit to anyone? Lisa and Wendy come from talented family members too. Wasn't Prince upset 'cause Wendy and Lisa wanted credit for their work to. Didn't Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam help Janet produce one of her most successful albums? Prince is a genius but God blessed other people as well.

  • Oh im so cool "COOL!!" honey baby cant you seeeeee!!! love the intro on this live video

  • whats the name of these songs

i kno the 1st 2 but not the rest

  • morris and terry lewis... cant lose! thanks for posting

  • by the way, what's the name of the song they play startin around 8:47 ?? this one is sure funky...

  • I love it.... what more can I say....

  • I cannot help but to watch this video over & over & over again! You talk about a great way to jump start & energize your day to a fantastic start! Also, I watch this before I start my work out routine as well! Takes me back to the day! This video is off the chain!

  • @1Islandbmet Wow, thanks for watching (again) and posting your comments. I appreciate that. Stay tuned for more old school music from the Sinbad Summer Jam series.

  • this has very nearly been the best 15 minutes of my life...

  • @SajjMan Wow, thanks for stopping by.

  • Morris Day has more swagger, soul, choreography, style & raw talent than ANY other R&B performer in the 80's & 90's, period! Even though Prince is & always will be talented, MD always had a more personable connection with his audience, which made him a cut above Prince. His hits of Fishnet, The Bird, Jungle Love, Cool, 777-9311, made my 80's experience a great one!

Does MD still tour? What ever happened to Jerome? Thanks!

  • @1Islandbmet I agree, thanks

  • @1Islandbmet Yes Morris Day still performs. Recently the original members including Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis reunited for a few shows. They also said their new album is finished. Jerome recently stopped touring Morris Day about two or three years ago but reunited with the original members.

  • @RJTheMack PLEASE let me know where they are touring at! Are the tour dates on his webpage posted yet? New album!!! You gotta be kidding me!!! Fill me in! I live along the coastal area of SC & it is rare that acts come this way. Thx!

  • @1Islandbmet I remember they were in Columbia last March. For tour dates you have to check out sites like tourtracker . com or type in Morris Day in Google news and they usually have articles on their next performances. Morris was doing shows with this group and The Original members did about 6 shows last year. Last I heard about 4 months ago Jimmy Jam said the album was done, they were just looking for a record label to sign with.

  • @1Islandbmet - To be quite honest...without the influence of Prince, or Jam & Lewis, Morris had fairly mediocre results. The early recorded hits of The Time was basically Prince, Morris and Lisa in the studio. "The Bird" and "Jungle Love" are still under the Prince banner. "Fishnet" had a strong Jam & Lewis influence (because they produced it). "Jerk Out" is basically Prince (and was meant for Mazarati a few years before it was actually released). "Oak Tree" and "Color of Success"? All Morris.

  • @smoothpants Thanks for watching, but why are you here rehashing all of this info that most serious fans ALREADY KNOW ? Are you trying to show what a musical guru you are or something ? Come on, stop the madness.

  • @seand67 - No, I'm just responding to someone who says: "Even though Prince is & always will be talented, MD always had a more personable connection with his audience, which made him a cut above Prince."

So I'm saying how can Morris Day be "a cut above" Prince, when the man had limited success left to his own devices. I'm only creating debate, and not rehashing info. Obviously, the man who said this is NOT a serious fan IMO.

Do you have a problem with that?

  • @smoothpants Ok, thanks for elaborating.

  • @smoothpants

Morris actually wrote one of Princes early success "Party Up" I think the minneapolis sound influnced them both since the were in the same band at one time.imho

  • After all this time Jerome is still backin up his main man! LOVE IT!

  • @kgreene8806 I know right...LOL

  • That's Halle Barry behind Morris on Ice cream castles...!! Wow

  • @jjdpro Yes indeed

  • YASSSS, uhh

  • YASSSS, uhh

  • Thanks for this moment of the real king of the BLACK POWER!!!

  • All I can say is Wow and thanks!!!! No one can ever feel bad while listening to Morris Day...My 22yr old daughter had never heard of the song, "The Bird", now she can watch this...brought back amazing memories!!

  • @rmarti50 Thanks, I appreciete you watching and posting comments.

  • this is great thanks

  • why havent morris day and the time put out a dvd of they live performances yet?

  • @iamsukafree Because prince owns them. He wrote & produced all there music.

  • @BBBYpsi get the fuck out of here with that bullshit.morris day & the time is a thousand times better then prince.they perform better then prince could ever dream of & they songs is better then his.morris day color of success album was better then any time album & jimmy jam & terry produced way more hits & better songs then prince ever did..& prince dont own them

  • @iamsukafree your such a douche bag know nothing. You do realize a song like Jungle Love jessie played bass & prince played all the other instruments in the recording version. He also set the time up because morris was a friend of prince in high school & that is why they always opened for him. Jimmy Jam & terry have written more hit songs then prince but non of times hits. Prince has written for many artist like chaka khan/bangles/sheena easton......Get a clue dumbass

  • @BBBYpsi u a complete idiot.prince was always jealous of morris day.morris day dressed better & performed better & always out shined prince.even in purple rain.the only good parts is morris day parts.even if prince wrote 4 the time.they the ones who performed it.just like when denzel washington act in a movie.he not the one who wrote the script but he the one who performed it & jimmy jam & terry produced more hits then prince & better hits then prince.

  • @iamsukafree I did say Jimmy Jam & Terry lewis wrote more top 10 hits then Prince (writing for janet jackson did that for them) As for a better performer not close Prince is probably about the best live performer ever & who won more awards & has a lifetime acheivment award. End of discussion I win as usual & I will not respond to anymore of your non fact comments sounds to me like you want to suck on Morris Days nuts.

  • @iamsukafree yea jimmy jam & terry lewis had more top 10 hits then prince but not more hits overall. by the way here is a little something you can read to show I am right thimble head. Just copy & past this but fill in the blank spots with a backspace. h t t p : // w w w. w arr. org/ purple. h t m l

  • Damn! Where's his voice?!

  • Thanks again!

  • they may have started off as a little side project for prince but i think they grew into one of the tightest high energy funk bands of the 80s.and the 14.01 is definately the time move.right!?

  • WOW, THIS IS SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH, I REALLY APPRECIATED IT AND WILL TREASURE EVERY SINGLE MOMENT I ENJOYED AT HIS CONCERTS,

  • @hermosillo62 Thanks for watching and posting your comments

  • oh man, you took me WAY back...they were the group back in the day...YAYESS

  • @indigirl86 Glad you enjoyed this. It was a good set even though Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, and Jesse Johnson were absent!!

  • Classic
