bias tubes to 150 via standby switch.. search web for method @ tubestore i think
i have this one old ecc83 tube that i loved for years. its labeled Groove Tubes and ecc83. whatever it is really it is magical in position #2 . but it may be gone now or going ? will save its carcass in hopes someone can tell me what it is
what are your settings on your legacy? cause for some reason whenever i switch to my neck pickup it always gets muddy and idk how to fix that. its starting to piss me off cause whenever i have intentions on playing fast runs and sweeping it gets to muddy and it just drives me insane..plz help
@8bigtubes I custom make guitars so its one of my own(very high quality) but i am using a Evolution in my bridge, A Blaze in my neck then a custom carvin 7 string single coil in my mid(its based off a jem body and set up)
@8bigtubes Cool, all these Carvin Legacy amps seem to have a dark kind of tone to them, not in a bad way though. I don't know how to describe it, it's almost demonic!
It's really not that dark sounding an amp tbh. It's my crappy recording. The Legacy cuts beautifully in a mix and it's not dark at all IMO. Yes it does have sort of a low-mid emphasis but in person, it's really not dark.
I love the Deliverance amps! I used to own a VHT D60. The only gripe I have is the lack of an effects loop. Other than that, the amp was near perfect for me.
I don't listen to Tool so I really wouldn't know but the Legacy is a darker voiced amp chock full of mids so if you want that scooped Mesa kinda tone then you'll be better off looking elsewhere.
Depends on which Mesa. The Mark series Mesas have mids to spare. The Dual and Triple Rect will still sound scooped even with the mid knob at 2 o'clock compared to a Legacy or a Bogner Ecstacy for instance.
Hey, I just got a Legacy and a Splawn ProMod and a Soldano SLO, 4x12 legacy cab with greenbacks, 2x12 legacy cab with vintage 30's. Going to do a wet/dry effect I think but will experiment. I think I may use the Splawn and SLO for my rhythms and the legacy for my cleans, then use all 3 for leads alternating, dunno. Got a Jem 7VWH and a PRS Modern Eagle on the way. Can't wait.
What are your settings on the TS9? I have one and I have been thinking of selling it because I can't find good settings and my Keeley Ds-1 seems to dial in what I want.
Really nice tone, do you recommend those amps? Im about to buy a new stack, and I've been considering if I buy Mesa boogie rectifier with the cabinets, or should I test these Carvin legacies too?
i agree i ideally would like to have both... ive got a triple rectifier (stupid loud)
the legacy has great cleans and incredible lead tone but in my opinion it doesnt have a very good rhythm tone... thats where the rectifier kicks in... huge amounts of gain and its got great rhythm but the cleans are sub-par, and smooth leads are hard to get out of it...
they compliment each other perfectly..
i agree with 8bigtubes... what kind of music do you play?
I usually play blues-like music with smooth leads and sometimes something like Vai's music. In a band I mainly play all the solos and riffs, and second guitarist plays the rythms and that stuff. I could say I'm looking after a nice clean, and a smooth lead. I've also heard that Legacies are best for the buck. Thanks for your responds!
you make guitars, lets see some of them....

@young0wylde0child Try turning the mids down to 5. It should help clear it up some.

Sounds a hair muddy to my ears.
Just an honest criticism...

its not muddy at all....what you're hearing is a 'brown' sound...like a modded plexi.

Did you know VHT is now known as Freyette Amplification. The Legacy is awesome But the Freyette Deliverance has to 1 of the top 5 amps used.
viperBSG 2 years ago
Yes I did know.
I love the Deliverance amps! I used to own a VHT D60. The only gripe I have is the lack of an effects loop. Other than that, the amp was near perfect for me.
8bigtubes 2 years ago
Yeah, but for the price of a Deliverance you could buy two Legacy heads and run them in stereo.
TheDistortionist 2 years ago
lol I do :) with a 22 ms delay to the left side. 1 half stack on each side of drummer. Sound in unbelievable :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone!
FYI, I've ditched the Keeley TS9DX for a Xotic BB Preamp and I couldn't be happier! So much more transparent and flexible with the active EQs.

It really depends on what kind of tone you're after. The Legacy and the Rectifier are worlds apart in terms of tone.
What kinda of music do you play ?
