  • yeah man your tone n tech sounds sublime! its like having warm treacle poured into my ears!! greeny would be proud=)

  • could you turn the reverb up even more please to make it totally and utterly un-listenable?

  • @suereed -Thanks for your interest.

  • @suereed have you actually heard the original?

  • @suereed lol - it probably sounds quite nice directly to him. But by the time it hits the camera mic, in the middle of a nice squarish room with flat walls... well, it's a nice collection of reflections upon reflections. In his defence, proabably wouldn't have pegged this till listening back to the vid...

  • love your playing, and thanks for all the info you have given, you make me want to practice more !britghten up rainy dublin morning

  • Amazin playin mate you can tell you was chuffed with it,Respect greeny would be proud!

  • Really enjoying working through your Channel.

Looking for good demos of Vintage V100 guitars has taken me to two really brilliant guitarists who have uploaded lots of first rate instrumentals using the Lemon Drop or V100IT models. Wonderful.

  • Is that the V100 Icon PG?

  • @CheezFavor -Hello. It certainly is the V100 Icon PG. I changed the pickups to Bare Knuckle PgBlues, but it's pretty much as I bought it after that. Fabulous value and great player.

  • Superb sound! The closest to PG i've heard so far!

Many players rate these vintage guitars higher than certain Gibson's, which is of course a matter of taste. But what do you think of this Vintage, comparing it with 'twice the price' brands? And what about the original pick ups?

    Thanks in forward

  • @hanomagrocker -Thank you for your comments. The Vintage guitar feels and handles as good as any Gibson (true) and the neck is super. The original pups are however substandard if you really want all the light and shade of Greeny. They are ok and in the middle position, do a pasable imitation of the fabled out-of-phase sound, but the neck pup especially, is unresponsive and dull.

I also had some internal wiring cleaned up and upgraded the pots. Afterwhich, the Bareknuckles went in.finito!

  • @hanomagrocker I don't believe that "many players", in their right mind, rate Vintage guitars higher than Gibson LP:s. I've had 3 Vintage 100s and 2 Gibson LP:s (One Classic and one std) and the quality is not compareble at all; Vintage: multipiece Mahogany back, maple veneer, Wilkinson harware, badly inlayed MOP etc. Not saying that Vintage are bad guitars...I liked them and the tone on one out of three was pretty damn good. Ffor a £199 guitar is outstanding! Same quality as Gibson? No way!

  • fantastic, really enjoyed it. your playing was dripping with that greenie magic congrats

  • Thank you very much for those kind words, James.Jeff Makor

  • Peter would B proud !! long live PG

  • @motokev Thanks.regards. Jeff Makor

  • @motokev

Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate it. regards

  • Great !!!

  • I just wish you had use a valve amp

  • Sounds nice. Would you say the PG Blues are the ones to get for mainly blues stuff? I was thinking of getting the Mules but not sure now

  • The PGBlues are the most authentic and proper sounding blues pups I ever heard.

They sound fantastic through almost everything.

I was playing straight through my trusty roland cube 80x and always get silly tone, .

The mules have more girth, but they cannot get the greeny out of phase sound and I think the mules are a bit fat bottomed for my liking.

I endorse Bareknuckles and think you'd be fine with any alnico pups up to the Abraxas,

    also amazing. regards .j

  • Ok Thanks for the reply, I'll certainly bear that it mind

  • Smokin!!!!

  • Cheers.

  • Great playing.

The pickups cust mutch more than the guitar ;))) .

    And thats a great guitar.

    CP

  • Fab, just fab. Great tone, tasteful playing, and fire in your belly. Love it!

  • Thanks for that great complement.

I love Peters playing and the guitar, pickups and amp did me credit on this outing.

    regards

    Jeff

  • got the same pickups in an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus (trans Amber) i absolutley love these pickups, Tim does such good work at BKP and ur playing is great dude

  • I agree about the pickups. They give everything I need for Peters epic sound but also the most authentic blues tone. Thanks for your comment. keep playing.

  • shalom

you have very nice sound and feel in your playing and also pretty vibrato .

  • FAULTLESS GREENY PLAYING 5*

  • Thanks for your complement, John.

I love Peter Green and think he is the main reason I'm still playing.

    regards Jeff

  • KILLER TONE!

  • Nice tone and nice playing, well done!

  • Thanks Kaycee.

    I aim to please.J

  • Great Job! Could you beso kind as to tell me what the volume and tone control setting for the bridge and neck pickups were?

  • Thanks for your comment.

When the volumes and tonepots were full out, I get the complete 'Greeny' sound.

For the live black Magic Woman tone (my favourite), I'm in the middle with the neck all full on but the treble volume on 8 or 9.However, messing around (forgive the pun) will give you your own sweet spots.

    regards jeff
